We booked this place before checking Trip Advisor ratings. Bad mistake. Check in took about an hour by the time the owner appeared. The lodging was a poorly maintained 50-70 year old cabin. Light fixtures hanging from the ceiling, miserable bathroom with no outlets, oil heaters with cords strung across the floors, virtually no amenities. The cafe associated with the lodging was fine. I cannot recommend this lodging to anyone for any reason. The associated cafe was small and not fancy but service and food quality were good.

On tour around Lake Superior with our British car club, this special little restaurant opened just for us on Father's day, and what a nice gift it was. By this point in our trip most of us just wanted something simple and not to large a portion for lunch. This place was great. We arrived to plates of what I call funeral sandwiches (I like funeral sandwiches), beautifully cut sandwiches masterfully seasoned egg salad, tuna salad and ham and cheese, served up with a garlic soup, once served to Red Skelton (the proprietor says he's the only guy who ever left with his recipe). Absolutely delicious squares and brownies to finish. And the lady in charge would let us leave without the left-overs for the road. So simple, yet so well done. It's the lunch stop I want every day on the road!
