Set atop an expansive ridge, our heritage estate overlooks scenic Sturgeon Lake in the heart of the Trent-Severn Waterway. Towering pines shade an historic, square-timbered manor house. Loon calls echo in the morning air. Lakefront sunsets bring a warm glow to the dining room. Through careful design we blend heritage romance with contemporary luxury. Our premier spa, scenic golf course and fine dining ensure a memorable visit. The Dunsford House is at the heart of the Eganridge estate. Carved from virgin pine forests on the shores of Sturgeon Lake, this gracious log manor home blends Canadian heritage with contemporary luxury. Named for the prominent English family who settled here in 1837, Dunsford House remains one of the region's finest square-timbered structures. Massive hand-hewn logs speak of the home's early 19th-century heritage. On the manicured grounds overlooking the lake, sit five luxuriously furnished one and two bedroom cottages. Rich in history and elegant in appointment, Dunsford House and the cottages rekindle the warmth and grace of an age long past. Enjoy the spectacular view from our spacious Terrace Rooms. Glass doors slide open to a private patio or balcony where you can watch islands emerge from the morning mist or listen to a loon's haunting call. We welcome you to sublime pampering at The Spa at Eganridge, a serene environment complete with hydrotherapy baths, Swiss showers and an extensive menu of body and skin care services. Eganridge's secluded setting eliminates distractions, so corporate events and business retreats become productive and pleasant. Corporate golf tournaments are a house specialty. We have excellent menus and facilities for business meetings. Treetops, our conference facility, seats up to 140 people. Your wedding dreams come true thanks to our photogenic waterfront setting, professional wedding planners and hostess. Our wedding menus and elegant reception room overlooking Sturgeon Lake make every reception special. The Eganridge golf course has one of the most scenic settings in the province, and most tees and holes have views of the lake. Housed in the estate's adze-hewn post-and-beam barn is a fully stocked golf and tennis shop. The pine-paneled dining room and screened-in deck offer panoramic views of the most splendid scenery in the Kawarthas. An acclaimed menu features regional ingredients presented in the classic French tradition. Our vintage wine selection is unparalleled in the region. Experienced, friendly staff will turn every meal into a memorable occasion. Dress is casual; ambiance is gracious.

The place has a spectacular view of Sturgeon Lake and the Fall colours are spectacular. The facility is very nice and the decor is well appointed. With a golf course attached, it is a very good place to stay and enjoy the weekend. However, with us anticipating a lovely dinner for two, the ambience changed from very nice to disaster. A simple dish of chicken penne was delivered without the chicken. A complaint yielded an apology but no offer to replace it, no thought of removing it from the Bill, only a policy stated that you must pay no matter. Refusing to pay then apparently meant that the waitress would have to pay for entire meal because you could not remove one item. Outrageous!! Holding both the waitress and the customer hostage. Eganridge must change their policy because my policy is not pay for what I do not receive. In conclusion, we paid so the waitress would not have the entire bill deducted from her pay. BE AWARE! Once the order has been entered into the system, no changes are permitted. Terrible, antiquated, and totally an antithesis to customer or Human Resources management.

Our terrace king room was spacious and clean. BUT, we had an issue with a leaky valve in the toilet, which I reported and they said they would fix, but didn't, and when asked, they said "would you like us to paddle the maintenance man?" The golf course is lovely. Another HUGE highlight was horseback riding at Heaven's Gait. Dinner was good, but you can get a better breakfast and service at Eggsmart in Bobcaygeon.

We attended Eganridge in August with 3 families (13 people) and stayed at Dunsford House. We all enjoyed our 5 day stay in this wonderful house which was more than big enough for everyone and had all the necessary appointments to make our stay comfortable. We brought our own food, and there were two towns nearby for any incidental items. Golf was very reasonably priced and we enjoyed several rounds during our stay. Members of our party as well as myself looked at this resort on several different websites for images and also to read reviews. To be frank, a couple of our guests were concerned about some negative reviews posted about this resort. As is so typical when giving people free rein to rate and review anything and everything linked to the internet, there will be people whose daily misery taints all they touch, and others that have unrealistic expectations of quality and service for anything that they pay for, and finally those who blatantly look for recompense in exchange for any level of complaint however outrageous. When these reviews are taken out of this equation, our experience was consistent with a rural resort in a remote setting trying hard to provide the best experience possible. Our experience during our time at the resort was not entirely without issue, but the measure of any hotel/resort is in how they manage issues as they arise, and Eganridge did their very best to address any issues that arose in a courteous and timely manner. Their response only raised our opinion of the resort as a whole. Overall, the staff and management at Eganridge were responsive and professional during our stay, the resort provided what our group needed to deliver a memorable week, and there was excellent value in our stay. A special thanks to Jason the Property Director who worked after hours to help manage our last minute booking, and who’s high standard of excellence was subtly evident in the actions of his staff and the level of service delivered.

We rented a one-bedroom 'rustic cottage' for three days in August. We chose the cottage to maintain physical distancing from other clients and staff. The property is in a nice setting, the grounds are well-tended and the golf course was in good shape. Front desk staff were great. We were surprised that the website failed to mention that the cottage had elements of a kitchenette. If we had known there was a sink, mini-fridge, microwave, kettle, and some utensils, this would have altered our packing. This oversight needs to be fixed. The cottage itself was not beachfront. (Indeed, none of them are.) But it was spacious for the three of us and decently appointed. There was patio furniture to relax on. Unfortunately the housekeeping had been rushed prior to our arrival: there were crumbs on the floor and the sofa. The sofa bed itself was in dire need of replacement: unsightly stains on the cushions and the mattress was old, creaky, and very uncomfortable. As to dining, we couldn't wait for the restaurant to open for breakfast (8:30 am is too late for us) and took our morning meals in Bobcaygeon. We had an unfortunate experience at Augusta's pub - slow, inattentive service and an entree delivered cold. (No discount was applied to our bill, which was really off-putting.) The upper restaurant was good, if pricey, but there was no kids' menu and we were told that we couldn't dine there AND order a meal for our child from the pub. So after dining in Bobcaygeon one night we ordered take-out from the upper restaurant and the pub the following night and ate on the veranda of our cabin. (The staff kindly delivered our order in a golf cart.) But we regretted the lack of nutritious food choices for our 6-year-old. Can't keep feeding 'em pub fare! The private beach is actually a private shoreline, with minimal sand for kids to play in. If someone could have raked up the dead aquatic plants which had washed up on the shoreline, it would have improved matters slightly. (We visited the public beach in Bobcaygeon around the corner from the locks.) On the plus side, there were water boards and kayaks available for ready use. Overall, we would recommend the resort for couples or perhaps families with much older kids. Advice to cabin-renters: bring provisions!

We were excited to get away on our vacation and this place offered golfing, horseback riding and fishing. When we arrived pass our check in time, we were told our room was not ready yet. They said they would call us when it was. We waited almost an hour and never received a call so we went back to the desk only to be told that it was ready for us and no excuse on why they didn’t call. Since we never been there before we asked questions of the front desk. The front desk seemed annoyed with us and barely told us anything. That night we ate on the outside patio, were the staff barely wore masks and the wait staff could be seen washing dishes and drinking beer through the window. There was barely a menu and the food was terrible and very pricey. The chairs were not wiped down after people left. Just a quick wipe of the table. The next day, we found that our room was not freshened and when I asked, they said they were not doing this because of Covid. They said if we wanted anything, we had to go to the front desk for it but this desk is not staffed 24 hours. We were not told this when we booked and the price was not lowered even though we did not have full service. We even had to empty our own garbage. There was mold in the shower and the jacuzzi tub did not work. Also we would set the a/c but they controlled it somehow and kept adjusting our air. The golf was nice but they did not wipe any of the carts before the next person took it out. The pool was very dirty and small. The day we checked out, we asked for a complementary coffee and we certainly bothered the front desk since we were given quite the attitude. This resort, and I say this loosely, is the most unfriendly, dirty, and pricey place. We will not be back.
