The room setting is well maintained, with Netflix tv. The beds are very comfortable. And beautiful lake view is a big plus from balcony. To enter Iona from main road needs pass 150m water via ferry, which costs $7 per car.

Check in was quick and easy. Room Was bright, newly renovated and spotless. The views from The balcony are spectacular. What set this motel apart was how wonderful the staff was. I had heard about this place on a motorcycle/ Cabot trail blog. It had mentioned riders get some discounts in the restaurant and that there was laundry on site. The mangers didn’t seem to know much about this but were more than happy to honour it anyways. There wasn’t any guest laundry facilities but they let us use the laundry facilities that the house keepers use which I was so soooo thankful for! We ate dinner twice, breakfast both mornings and made sure to try most of the craft beers at the bar. Serving staff was great and the chef was amazing, food was excellent. We really enjoyed the live music entertainment on Sunday night as well. Another bonus with this property is that they ahave a coffee shop, ice cream / chocolate shop and liquor store right on site. If your looking for accommodation for your Cape Breton, Cabot Trail holiday motorcycle trip or road trip of any kind Iona Heights Inn is the place to stay!!

AmaZing place to stay! We stayed here 2 nights, making a trip out to louisbourg fortress while here. View of Bras D’or lake was beautiful. A little remote but worth the drive out to stay if in the area. Owner and staff were super friendly and ensured we had what we needed. The store, including beer/liquor store on site was good. Restaurant was reasonably priced and we got to enjoy live fiddling while we ate. Would totally go back here if we ever make it out that way again!

We stayed here for 2 days and really enjoyed our time here. The Good. 1. The location is spectacular. It is a bit off the beaten track but the views from the hotel across Lake Bras d'Or are fantastic. The view constantly shifted from dawn to dusk and in the various weather conditions. The room had a balcony overlooking the lake and we sat there for hours. 2. The place has a really community feel and has a pub, restaurant, general store, off licence and a chocolate shop onnthe premises. Lots of local people seem to use the facility including for the concerts held there. 3. The rooms are clean and decorated in a modern way with a Canadian theme. Good wooden flooring and the air con is great. The room also has lots of extras woth a coffee maker, fridge and ironing board. 4. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. 5. The restaurant/ bar has a good range of beers, many local, and a good menu. The food was a bit hit and miss with excellent scallops and good burgers but the fries were not great and another fish dish a bit bland. Service was good and you could take the food to your room. The Bad. 1. The place is basically a traditional 2 storey motel which has been well done up but there are a few issues. The bathrooms are pretty small, there was limescale on the bath, a desk was in need of a re-spray, the Wi-Fi was pretty awful and the walls were pretty thin. Overall We really enjoyed our stay and, although it is a little rough around the edges, we would definitely return for the views and the friendly staff.
