We stayed three nights in the inn itself. We were a bit surprised at first with the dated room and living room. We agreed it would be a wonderful setting for a murder mystery movie or to play one of the games that make for a fun evening. However by the time we left, we were enchanted. On the first night we had been invited to dinner at a friend's home and returned to find music taking place in the living room. What a treat! The two fiddlers were excellent and the mood, the humor, the playing, the dance and the Scottish flavor set the tone for our stay. We had one dinner at the inn and it was very good and while a bit high in price, we had no complaints at all And then we got a second night of music and while not as lively as the first it was still very fine and we learned a lot from the excellent fiddler. All in all this was a great stay for us!

We picked the Normaway for its proximity to Cheticamp, as we were holidaying in beautiful Cape Breton. We wanted somewhere we could arrive and relax—dining in. The inn is lovely and staff were amazing. Dinner was delicious!! The room was comfortable, with antiques and a new mattress—and 3 hooked rugs! Dinner was excellent and there was a young entertainer in the big common room after dinner. Sing-along and free entertainment.

One of my favourite places in Nova Scotia and a very unique, beautiful property. House is very grand and in the evening features live fiddlers in the living room. You just know you’re somewhere special as you head down the tree lined pathway. Wander the property to see horses peacefully grazing and the sun setting on another good day. Highly recommend. And be sure to pick up a bottle of the fresh squeezed blueberry juice!

The Normaway is quiet, relaxing and romantic. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was good (the oatcakes and porridge bread were amazing) and the cabin was charming and well equipped. We had the luck to stay during a lightening storm and actually lost power, which added to the ambience. The staff managed to complete dinner service and everyone ate by candle light.

Quaint location off the beaten path, with peaceful surroundings and surprising amenities. Inn is old but it is as comfortable as staying at a relatives old home. Staff are welcoming and fun. We had dinner at the restaurant, reservations made by suggestion of the inn and we enjoyed every thing! Lamb shank was delicious. We made it out on a great day as we got a chance to got to the Barn for a local performance and what an experience! Fun and flavourful music that you can't help but tap your feet and enjoy. Would definitely do this again. Thank you Normaway for helping us experience such a delight!
