We were so looking forward to our two nights and distillery tour at the Glenora Inn in mid-October. Just hours before our arrival, we were informed that the tours we had booked were not available during our stay and that the pub was closed. On check in we were informed that the restaurant was also closed. They did give us the option of cancelling the reservation, but that didn’t seem a viable option at 4 p.m. Our cabin was clean and adequate. Thankfully it had a fridge and microwave to heat our frozen dinners, as there were no restaurants open in Mabou or Inverness. Needless to say, this wasn’t the gourmet food and whisky tasting experience we had hoped for. We feel we should have been warned, either at the time of booking, or soon afterwards, so that we could have made alternative plans.

The distillery tour was really cool and educational. It’s very impressive to see how they built all this from nothing. The grounds are beautifully maintained and really remind me of distilleries in Scotland. The food was delicious and satisfying. Had the crab dip, smoked salmon linguine and swordfish and enjoyed them all. The prices were also reasonable for the portions you got.

We were in the lodge, beautiful views of the valley, room looked brand new! Kind of hard to navigate where the main desk is, we walked into the restaurant part. Shuttle (and driver!!) to supper and back is wonderful, we both got to enjoy wine. Our crab dip was lacking crab and was pretty runny compared to other dips ive had but it tasted great just not so much like crab. Our mains were good, i enjoyed the smoked salmon pasta (if you dont enjoy smoked fish, dont order it), my husband had ribs and fries and liked it, it had a smokey/hickory bbq sauce and he prefers a sweet bbq sauce but meat was tender none the less. Dessert we had toffee pudding, needed to be warmer with more sauce but it was OK. Staff was great, view and lodge were amazing, food was OK.

Stayed for a night on last night of vacation. Stayed in brook side building. Very nicely appointed, modern. Nice little outdoor patio. Wifi in my room was very weak. Food and evening music were good, will be looking forward to the fine dining restaurant reopening after Covid. Would be nice to have microwave In room as food service ends at 9, and many people seemed to leave the restaurant with takeout containers. Comfy bed and nice heat pump/ AC. Whiskey tour before we departed was short but interesting and informative, will be doing the VIP tour in the future.
