The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was continental and all of the breakfast options were processed options (e.g., instant oatmeal, cereal, etc) and no fresh fruit was available. Although it was nice and clean, probably wouldn’t go back.

We stayed in the loft which did not have Air Conditioning or a television although it was clean. There was a fan in the room to use to cool off the room. There was a shared bathroom in the hall for the three rooms on that level. The breakfast was a very basic help yourself affair.

We stayed for a couple of nights. The room wasclean and good sized. The breakfast basic but adequate. We enjoyed our conversations with some of the other guests on the second night (from Australia and Tenesse). Excellent location for the park area of Cape Breton. You could consider breakfast at the Keltic Lodge and would recommend the Middle Heaad trail... More

After a day on the Cabot Trail it was a welcomed retreat. The room was clean but small on the back corner of the porch. Didn't like the bed so I had a restless nights sleep. It is walking distance from the entrance to the park and around the corner was a restaurant and bakery.

I stayed here during a motorcycle trip and the location is great for waking up and hitting the twisty roads. I was greeted by friendly staff and was treated well during my stay. The liquor store and a restaurant are within walking distance and there is a convenience store nearby. There is also a gas station next door (no premium... More

Third night stay on our trip to Cape Breton. Very close to the Highlands. The inn is very dated, but the room was clean, though the bed was very hard. The bathroom was immaculate. Continental breakfast was ok, nothing to speak about, but I was content with coffee and toast. Decent value for the money.

The Island Inn was great in that we had our own bathroom and TV. No a/c and that week in Cape Breton we could have used it. Lots of parking. Sleep well except for the heat. Breakfast was all right but not exceptional. Included toast, cereal and coffee.

I am not normally a person who stays at a B&B so I don't really know how to compare it to others in that regard. My room was only accessible from inside the house (there were others that had doors off the veranda that might better suit travelers with mobility concerns) and it was small but clean with a 3/4... We found this Inn in the NS tour guide and it said it was a B&B but we found it was more like a lower class hotel. It was clean but we found the price was just as high as a classy B&B. There was a light breakfast but not what we had expected. They had made an old house... More

Reservations made on line. Inn found to be for sale. Somewhat tired in appearance though it appears efforts are being made to upgrade for sale appeal. Desk clerk very pleasant. Reservation was made with note of Inn allowing dogs. Online did not indicate to Inn we had dogs ( tiny Yorkie mix). Only one room is allowed for dog use... More
