The ambience is spectacular. Bring your camera and take pictures as the sun starts to disappear on the ocean. Our server Catherine was a delight. A true Cape Breton Islander, cheery and positive. We had the fresh 11/2 lb lobster supper and the Halibut served with lobster ravioli. It was very fresh and very good. Best lobster we've had since... More

We decided to splurge for a three night stay at Keltic Lodge during our first trip to Cape Breton in early July. We liked the idea of staying at a historic property. On arrival, the site was spectacular, with wonderful views off both sides of the headland. The main floor dining room and lounge area were nicely decorated. It was... More

If you enjoy seeing historic lodges, this is worth a stop and perhaps a stay. But it is showing it's age. The rugs need replacing and the rooms are just average. A nice view (from some rooms). There is a restaurant, and the food was good but overpriced for the area.

I sent this note to Mr. Hudson, the manager of this property, several weeks ago and didn't receive even the courtesy of a response. That to me says more than anything he could have said. We stayed at Keltic Lodge for the first time on Aug 21 and had high hopes based on what we had read. We were very... More

We stayed 3 nights in two of the cottages and while the buildings ard rustic they are clean and very comfortable. The views and the pool are great and we had excellent customer service. The food is good at the Atlantic Restaurant and the breakfast in the Purple Thistle was substantial, varied, and we'll prepared.

We didn't stay at the lodge overnight because they were full but we came for breakfast after hearing they had such a great buffet breakfast. The food quality was fantasic and at a great price too at $17.00. Large selection of hot and cold choices. You won't be disappointed.

I knew our $250/night room wasn’t in the main building, but (based on photos and descriptions on the website) I expected a modern room in a “motel”-like 2-story building. Instead, our "room" was a 50+ year old wooden “cabin”---upgrading to an actual hotel room would have been several hundred more $. It had a TV, AC, and a comfortable bed,... More

If you want Sandals this ain't your place. If you want a place with history, charm, service, and great views then you are looking in the right place. The cabins are well done and VERY clean. Fancy enough, but the rustic charm has not been erased. The breakfast here is excellent and the views (especially at the end of the... More

We decided to splurge on this hotel for our trip to Nova Scotia. We had requested a suite as 3 of us were traveling together. The light colored carpet up the stairs to our accommodation was dirty. While the unit looked lovely, we quickly noted that the bathroom door in the first bedroom was warped and would not close. In... More

Even though the location of this property is outstanding, the service levels need improvement. Upon our arrival at the Lodge, the Front Desk Agents were real busy - starting their shift and getting themselves set up in their little office. Both Agents were to busy to acknowledge that we had arrived. Neither one of them asked if we needed help... More
