Spent two nights here to explore the iconic skyline trail and whale watching. It is a homey place, perhaps stuffed with too much furniture in a heavy style , perhaps unsuited for a seaside location. However, it is spotless. The hotel manager is a charming lady that goes out of her way to help customers. Overall, a good place to stay.
Almost eerything was as promised. The food was delightful. The bed was the BEST sleep I have had in years. It was super clean. The place was quiet. The view was great from our front second floor room. The only issue was a private balcony was promised but it was not private. Anorther room had accessed to ours and we had access to theirs. Not a real big deal
We were very lucky to get a last minute booking here for one night July 2022. The house is beautiful, right on the waterfront and we received another wonderful Cape Breton welcome despite being late for check in. The room was nicely furnished, comfy bed, lovely ensuite, good linens and towels. Continental breakfast included juice, cereal, fresh fruit, eggs, muffins, pastries, toast, tea and coffee. Can definitely recommend
Excellent accommodation. Our 3 night stay was absolutely perfect. Will definitely rebook if I return to that area again! Owner Lyne was great to work with as we were a large group of friends traveling through the area. We booked the entire property while we were there and each room and both rentals are very lovely. The rentals in the back offer a little more privacy and are stocked with anything you could possibly need.
The Maison Fiset House overlooks Cheticamp Harbor on the Cabot Trail Rd. We only stayed one very comfortable night here. As intrigued as we were with the presence of a jacuzzi in the room proper, we didn't make use, but we could have. The large comfortable king size bed fit easily in our "Cheticamp Room." There was plenty of bureau space, both for hanging and folded clothes. A door on our 2nd floor room opened to a small deck complete with seating and a partition separating our "deck space" from the room across the hall. The best thing about the Maison Fiset was our hostess, Lynn. She recommended an excellent local restaurant upon our arrival but it was at the delicious full breakfast where she excelled. Unfurling a map of the Cabot Trail Park she detailed all of the most desirable trails and places of note that we had to visit in the nearby Highlands National Park, and then some. Staying at the Maison Fiset House was one of the high points of our Canadian trip.…
Elegant historic home, 8 rooms & suites, some with private balconies for magnificent views of the harbour & beautiful sunsets; our suite "L'isle de Cheticamp" was outstanding, super comfortable king bed, luxurious furnishings, linens & pillows, large jacuzzi bath, fridge, just a few of the many amenities to make your stay amazing! Very quiet & relaxing surroundings! This inn was extremely clean and safety protocols evident throughout. The complimentary full hot breakfast cooked to order was a great start to our day. Private free parking at back. Walking distance to many restaurants & shops. Very pleasant & friendly staff! Owner Lyne Larade, an extremely pleasant & welcoming host, was most knowledgeable of the area & its history, well informed & helpful to make our trip most enjoyable. Fall colours were just starting to appear ... made our trip even more scenic! Thank you, Lyne !…
We stayed at Maison Fiset House in Cheticamp for 3-nights in mid-Oct while exploring Cape Breton Highlands National Park ($140/night). While described as a heritage building, renovations have removed much of the historic feel except in the small common area near reception. Our 2nd floor harbour-view room, with a semi-private deck (shared with 1 other room), was moderate in size but a bit small for the king bed, all of the furniture (desk & chair, large cabinet with the small-capacity mini-fridge, 2 upholstered chairs) and the large jetted corner tub. The french doors onto the deck & a side window provided an open, light atmosphere. The bathroom had modern fixtures, with a shower stall and a sink with a tiny vanity. Water pressure was poor, ranging from barely adequate at best to a bare trickle at worst. The in-room jetted tub was a nice touch, although the pump was very noisy and most of the jets did not work. Our off-season package did not include breakfast or maid service (indeed, we did not see our host again after check-in), so we did not use the 1st floor common areas (a breakfast area with several tables & a tiny sitting area), although they did have an ice machine. The weather allowed us to sit on the deck one afternoon and, while the water view was pleasant (not really an active harbour, just a wide channel between town and the offshore island), the constant traffic on the Cabot Trail immediately in front of the hotel (even in October, I can't imagine what August is like) diminished our enjoyment. The Inn was located at the south end of town, a short walk to the Co-op & liquor store but an uncomfortably distant one to the restaurants, pub, bakery & craft shops (we drove). Cheticamp itself was small but required planning – every restaurant required reservations (many had closed for the season, others were closing at the end of Celtic Colours (virtual this year), the bakery usually had lines-ups, and there were surprisingly few craft stores & most planned to close soon – something that should be born in mind when travelling in many parts of the Maritimes. Overall, the Maison Fiset House provided a comfortable base for exploring the area despite some deficiencies (traffic noise on the deck, water pressure, jetted tub) – a good value at the reasonable off-season price.…
Super comfy bed and linens, nice balcony facing the Cheticamp Harbor (our room was Le Digue). Walked to the Harbour Restaurant for dinner, and had a fabulous breakfast the next day at the Maison. Close to the Trois Pignons museum and of course, the Cape Breton National Park and the Skyline Trail. Would highly recommend as a stay In Cheticamp before heading to the park.
This place is a beautiful little gem. Rooms are beautifully set up with all the attention to detail to make your stay luxurious and comfortable. Impeccably clean, and the owner Lynne is so welcoming and helpful. We highly recommend it and it’s a great reason to visit Cheticamp.
Lyne is the absolute best of hostesses. She greeted us with friendship and warmth on our arrival and we were immediately sold on the charms of Maison Friset. Our room was — like the entire facility — recently remodeled, and was very modern and very comfortable. We had a balcony facing the harbor and enjoyed the warm sun and cool breezes. Lyne made us reservations for a delightful dinner and provided us with a full breakfast the next morning — made to order (and included in our room price). We are seasoned travelers and have experienced a wide variety of accommodations. Maison Friset will definitely go at the top of our list!
