This is a wonderful B&B. Jan and Glen are very welcoming and helpful. The location is a pleasant rural property but remains a short drive to Baddeck. It is quiet and the breakfasts are good. We will choose Auld Farm Inn B&B again when we next visit Cape Breton.

We had a lovely one night stay at Auld Farm Inn - our room was spotless and had everything we needed. Lots of attention was paid to covid cleaning and other covid restrictions. The hot breakfast was very plentiful and delicious - all made fresh for us including the excellent scones. There are greenhouses on the property with great plants for the garden that were for sale - we were happily able to purchase two that we had been looking for. Our hosts were very hospitable and very nice to chat with. Overall, it's a wonderful place for a get away or even for a special occasion since they have an excellent event space in the barn and are just a few minutes drive to beautiful Baddeck.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for our property. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us and hope that the plants that you bought have settled in well to their new home. We are also happy that you left our breakfast table full and ready to explore our beautiful island. Despite the restrictions that everyone is experiencing around the world, we have thoroughly enjoyed welcoming guests to the B&B this year and our housekeepers worked incredibly hard this season and last season to ensure that our guests and our team were safe. We hope to welcome you back to Auld Farm Inn again the next time you are in the area.

Not only is this inn all one could hope for in a place to stay - great breakfast, clean and well appointed rooms, big verandah to sit on and friendly dog - but the Vickers are hosts who seem willing to do whatever it takes to make a guest happy. They were incredibly helpful to me when I arrived one evening, limping into their driveway with a car whose brake line had just failed. Glen put brake line fluid into the car and contacted a local garage. Jan arranged for me to get a lift the next morning to my next destination. Kudos to great innkeepers!

Thank you for your kind words. We are so happy that we could help you with your car issue and the benefit to living in a small community helps with organising whatever needs to be done to get you mobile again !! The veranda was used quite a lot this season for guests wanting to relax during the day or evening and fortunately we had superb weather for that. KC continues to enjoy welcoming and interacting with guests and hopefully she will have the pleasure of welcoming you back sometime in the future.

A wonderful little Inn run by a lovely couple. We stayed two nights in early September at the start of our holiday, and decided to spend another night on our way through at the end of our holiday. The experience was absolutely wonderful. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating, our room was spotless and tastefully decorated, and the common areas were equally so. It felt like a rural family-run Inn should feel like. All breakfasts were delicious. We will definitely return if we are ever in the area again.

+1
This was our first visit to Auld Farm Inn B&B. I truly hope it will not be our last. This is a wonderful Inn. Lovely location nestled on a hillside, surrounded by woods and fields. The gardens surrounding the Inn are beautiful, some manicured, some wild. The owner knows her flowers and has a greenhouse on site. The layout of the rooms is very nice with some rooms inside the main house and several outside with private access. The rooms are well maintained, thoughtfully appointed and impeccably clean. We were in room 6. It had large windows on two sides letting in the most wonderful breeze and light. There was a selection of coffee and tea available at any time and a very nice breakfast served in the morning. Jan and Glen are excellent hosts giving the Inn a truly welcoming feel. Their heart is in it and it shows. My best advice is - Do not miss this Inn.

I'm a tough reviewer and don't hand out 4 and 5 star ratings, but this place rates a HIGH 4.
Just a bit off the beaten path, but very easy to access from a major highway, this place is a gem. It's an old farmhouse that has been tastefully skillfully reworked, incorporating some unique features--such as the room doors and locks, all made in Germany (I'm a bit nerdy, so this appealed to me). The dining area and living room are open to the guests for during all hours, for reading, playing board games...whatever.
The breakfasts are tasty and well-prepared with dietary and preferences allowed for. They serve a hearty blend of coffee that made a hit with me.
The farm is also a working greenhouses operation and you're welcome to have a look at it while they're working it.
The only downside is that the operation is on the market and by the time we travel there again it may be under new management. If so, we wish Glen and Jan all the best in their next endeavor. They've done with with Auld Farm.

This B & B is actually 7 km out of Baddeck on Rte 205. It is nonetheless well situated for anyone wishing to do the Cabot Trail and visit the immediate area. The house itself is about 150 feet from the road and was very quiet at night.
The inn offers several comfortable rooms. Ours was probably the simplest with a nice Queen bed, dresser and rocking chair. Two fluffy bathrobes were available since our bathroom (reserved to our only usage) was across the hall. There were plenty of towels and good quality toiletries. To be noted the little binder of practical information that describes even the quality of their water! No t.v. in the room but one available to all guests downstairs. The wi-fi worked well most of the time (it did cut once during our 2-day stay but then the inn is in the country). Breakfast was very nice with a selection bread, muffins, scones. We were also offered pancakes one morning, the bacon & egg plate the next one. Fresh fruit salad and yogurt were also available.
Overall a very pleasant stay. The owners were charming and very helpful. It was nice to meet other fellow travelers.

Jan & Glen are a lovely couple and great hosts. Their quiet farm property (only 8 minutes from Baddeck) was such a welcome change for us "city folk". Our room on the second floor was charming. The bed was comfy and the bathroom had all the needed amenities. Don't let the absence of a TV in the room bother you - my wife and I actually talked more, lol. The breakfast in the morning was a great way to start the day.
You get a sense that the prime objective of Jan and Glen is making their guests happy. They made a great suggestion for dinner (The Freight Sled) and arranged tickets for us to join a Ceilidh. I'd definitely recommend this place and will return here on our next visit to Cape Breton.

Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to leave a review for us. We do try very hard to make our guests feel at home and comfortable when they stay with us and we are glad that we managed that with you. Also that you and your wife 'talked more' !! The Freight Shed is one of many wonderful eateries in Baddeck and we're glad that you enjoyed your meal there. We hope that we can welcome you back to Auld Farm Inn sometime in the future. Thank you again for your review.

Perfect room and perfect hosts! The morning breakfast was on the exact time that was requested and it was delicious. Room was tidy and had all the necessary amenities. To our surprise, Jan and Glen provided a free complimentary wine which we appreciated greatly after a 1000 km drive.

Great B&B located just north of the ton of Baddeck. The rooms were very clean and included housekeeping which now days is a rare find. The beds were very comfortable. Breakfasts each day were freshly made, delicious and different each of our 5 days. Fresh fruit was offered in addition to the main dish each day along with yogurt. Ample parking was available onsite. The owners, Jan and Glen are very helpful, knowledgeable about the area and its activities, and helpful with restaurant information and Celtic music reservations. Can't say enough positive things about them as hosts.

Many thanks for your enquiry. No, our pet doesn't go into any of the bedrooms. She is a Goldendoodle so she has a low to non-shedding coat which makes her virtually hypoallergenic but not totally.
Many thanks for your question. Unfortunately at present we do not allow pets, but this is something we may look into in the future.
What we liked best about Cape Breton was the wonderful people, and Jan and Glen are no exception. You couldn't ask for better hosts, and they have a fun pet dog to pal around with. It is a quiet and peaceful place though, so I would recommend bringing books, puzzles, and a tablet or other device for the kids if they want some entertainment in the evening. We enjoyed spending time just talking with our hosts.
