While travelling in Gros Morne National Park we stayed at the Ocean View Hotel in Rocky Harbour for 3 nights. We stayed in the newer annex beside the main hotel. Our room was clean and spacious primarily because it was designed for wheelchair access. Nice little patio to sit and watch a beautiful sunset. All in all a great place to stay. Great bar attached to the hotel with terrific entertainment and fun waitresses. The only issue we had was with the more formal dining room. Apparently the hotel was closed for 2 years during Covid; however, this dining room is incredibly musty smelling. While it looks very clean, there is definitely a mold issue, and as the dining room is pricey, the smell needs to addressed. The dining room is part of the main hotel, and if you are at all sensitive to mold and mildew smell and/or presence, I fear the rooms in this area may have the same problem.

The Hotel is situated in the centre of Rocky Harbour and has a great view of the ocean. It is clean with comfortable beds and the convenience of a Restaurant on site. The bar has good entertainment and the entire establishment offers great service.

After a long day of travelling we were happy to arrive in Rocky Harbour. I had read some reviews about the restaurant being overpriced and not that great but I didn’t listen and made reservations for dinner. We had a nice table with great views and the staff was lovely and very attentive. Ordered the special with clam chowder and halibut. I enjoyed the chowder mostly because I was so hungry but it was missing both cream and seafood! I had amazing chowder the next day at the cafeteria at Western Brook Pond…that’s when I remembered what real chowder should taste like. My husband had a dry and inedible baked potato and we both added seasonings to the fish and asked for tartar sauce to make it somewhat enjoyable. Even the dessert was…meh! Listen to the reviews and eat somewhere else. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The new building rooms need bedside lighting. Bright lights in the ceiling are not conducive to reading in bed while your partner tries to sleep! More hooks in the bathroom please. Lovely location and nice views from the balconies.

We only visited the restaurant and didn't stay at the hotel! See if you can sit on the second floor area for a great view of Rocky Harbour. Be sure to order the Fish & Chips and then marvel as you wonder (aloud) if they caught it this morning or just before you arrived. It is cooked well, lightly battered, served with coleslaw (if I remember correctly). You will think the 1 piece is enough and you're right but you'll regret not getting 2 pieces!!

This was a brilliant stay in Rocky Harbour! Very clean and comfortable room, very spacious and lovely individually wrapped toiletries provided! In the evening we went to the Newfie Kitchen Party for evening entertainment and it was fantastic with lots of dancing, opportunity for stand up comedy and audience to take a turn singing themselves if desired and Newfoundland songs with the ugly stick! The staff were very kind which made for a welcoming visit. Would of course highly recommend.

Very nice hotel, with a good restaurant and a pub that seems very lively. The rooms are fairly spacious, the beds comfortable and the place is clean. Lovely view out to the bay. The amenities are good. We were screeched in there, and had a lot of fun with their ceremony for it. The screech was even good! The hotel is well located right in the middle of the town, so it’s easy to get to everything. There is a 24-hour laundromat close to the hotel, if you need to do some laundry. All in all, definitely the place I would stay were I there again.

The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The room was modern, spatious and comfortable. We got a good sleep each night and really enjoyed sitting on the balcony and admiring the ocean view. There was a bit of a heat wave while we were there but the air conditioning kept our room comfortable.

We stayed for 2 nights on our way to St Anthony's and one night on the way back we were very pleased with our rooms both times - we were in the annex. they were modern, clean, service was very good had entertainment in the lounge every night. I think every room has a ocean view not particularly scenic but this was the end of our 14 day trip and had been spoiled. I will review the restaueant separately (my advice wait for a table and eat across the road)

The hotel room and the view were quite nice Front desk service was terrible. Everything was an imposition. I often ask myself why someone like that would want to have a client facing position. The food at dinner in the restaurant was good, but the service was slow. We thought that there was a shift change and no one was serving. Finally our waitress appeared. The location was perfect if you wanted to attempt the hike to the top of Gross Morne Mountain

Centrally located and has the Anchor's Away show. Do not miss it, best show in Newfoundland. Clean spacious rooms. Good dinning room but make reservations early. Food was OK, but not great. Great bar with nightly entertainment and bar food. Fairly priced.
