Welcome to Cluxewe, a natural wonder, in the land of the Kwakiutl people. “Cluxewe” has two different, but related, meanings: “place of the changing river mouth” and “place of refuge.” Listen to waves splash on the shoreline. Awaken to the haunting sound of loons or the rusty-gate screech of a bald eagle. Enjoy fabulous summer sunsets over Broughton Strait. In early summer you can enjoy both sunsets and sunrises from your deck. Each of the twelve cozy cottages, including the 3-unit "tri-plex," comes with cooking and dining utensils, stove, refrigerator, microwave oven, and full bathroom. Cottages also feature TV/VCR's with satellite television. These cottages are wonderful retreats for artists, writers, and nature lovers as well as fishermen! 152 campsites, many on the ocean and Cluxewe River estuary.

Amazing scenery, cabins right at the beach
We have stayed at Cluxewe cabins many times and we always love it: wonderful location, the most amazing sunsets, great place for fishing, wildlife all around (next to otters, bald eagles we also saw a bear on the campsite), enjoying our campfire in the evening….. The cabins are basic and clean and have everything you need: good value for money. Housekeeping staff is super friendly and helpful. Although the weather was a bit chilly this time, we once again truly enjoyed our stay at Cluxewe

    Great Camping & Cabins
I camped here for one night, and stayed in Cabin 3 for one night in September 2020. We stayed in campground 64, which is right on the ocean, but has some shelter from some bushes and trees. Despite the inclement weather, it is a beautiful site. You have views of the ocean on one side, and views of the estuary on the other side. The bathrooms are generally quite clean, and there are paid showers and laundry facilities as well. There weren't that many people tenting, due to the weather, but there were quite a few folks in RVs. Lots of people coming down to fish right off the shore. You have amazing views of the mainland mountains, and out to Malcolm Island. We spent the second night of our stay in Cabin 3 which is a cute and cozy, and right on the ocean. It has a little covered balcony that you can drink your coffee on and watch for whales. The cabin was clean and tidy, with everything that you need for a stay for a few nights. The bed was comfortable with nice linens. It was a treat to fall asleep listening to the rain on the roof, and wake up and drink coffee and watch the waves.

    Beautiful location, comfortable cabins
We stayed in one of the two bedroom cabins, with friends in the adjacent cabin. The cabins are really wonderful, and a great value. They are located right on the ocean. There is a little grassy area in front of the larger cabins, with the beach a few feet below. Well equipped kitchen, comfy beds. The water is not potable, but the resort provides drinking water. The resort has a kids play area and expansive grounds. We loved watching the sunsets and beachcombing. Look forward to returning again next year!

We showed up with no reservation mid week as we had been searching for a few days on the island for a perfect ocean front private campsite and that is what we found here were originally in site 63 at the far end but immediately eyed up site 65 which is private and right on the ocean and moved in the next morning. We loved it soooo much we stayed 3 nights. Just to note the wifi only works closer to the building and you cannot brush your teeth with the water from the bathroom taps. the restaurant was closed since Covid. it was quiet till Saturday then alot of families came and a group of teens were running around for hours all over the campsite till late at night i had to talk to them nicely and ask them to quiet down they had a gheto blaster with music and the end of our campsite at midnight. we are in our 60's and it was bothersome. Someone locked the ladies bathroom door that was closer to the end sites otherwise shower building is too far for us to walk so i just used the mens. It is 30 a night so auesome cheap and the only campsite we experienced on our whole 2 weeks trip that fit what we wanted ocean and privacy other campsites on the ocean at Jordan river and Elk bay and little bear are parking lot style out in the open....we would return weekday site 65 anyday and watch the otters and sea lions play as well as the boats are barges go by ....when its windy be sure to dress for winter weather but when its calm its beautiful will be back

Totally incompetent booking system. We waited patiently for the opening of the booking period. It was announced that it would be on January 16 this year but then on January 12 they announced it had been open since January 10. Needless to say now our summer vacation is ruined since all the nice spots are taken & it is too late to book anything worthwhile at other resorts. I guess it wouldn't have been such a big deal if Cluxewe didn't tell people NOT to contact them before the posted date. Things you should know about staying at Cluxewe: The men's washrooms are filthy -- toilets regularly overflow. The restaurant has been closed for 3 years. You are warned not to drink the water -- all your drinking water needs to be brought in yourself -- but Cluxewe is happy to sell you an overpriced bottle of water. There is no cell service & Cluxewe doesn't provide a public phone -- took me 2 days to try to arrange service for a car problem. Cluxewe is at the end of a logging road -- the loggers don't like it if you go too slow, plus I managed to pick up a knife blade in my tire. The cabins are poorly maintained -- it would be easy for Cluxewe to attend to the mold problem around the windows & under the eaves, but ... just don't open the windows if you are allergic. So, yes, Cluxewe is in a beautiful setting ... unfortunately it has a lot of issues that could be addressed.

everything was dirty, the booking system is arcane and they say one thing, like bookings are open January 16th and then suddenly there is nothing left and the bookings opened on January 10 so they backed off on the booking date because too many people bugged them there was no confusion they set a date and didn't stick to it squeaky wheels i guess we will never go there again, the first year we went there was human feces everywhere in the bathrooms, the freezer didn't freeze and someone slashed our tires, not a good place

A great place to hang-out for a couple days. Fun to walk the beach. Some people had beach fires and many were salmon fishing from the shore. Cabin is furnished simply but was comfortable and I wish I had more time there to enjoy it! (water is non-potable but they provided large jugs free of charge). Nice small kitchen set-up so we could make breakfast & dinners at 'home'. (restaurant on-site was closed while we were there but we were told at time of booking)

We stayed in cabin #4. When we first pulled up I thought "this looks so nice", then you walk inside this cute cabin and see the view and say "wow"! It was very clean and comfortable looking. The setting is so quiet and peaceful, the view is spectacular, and you get to fall asleep to the sound of waves. The only downside was the bed and pillow, I think they need to invest in new ones as the mattress was kind of sagging in the middle and the pillows were lumpy.

My first visit to Cluxewe but certainly not my last. What a wonderful spot! Great views of the Straits. Quiet. Friendly staff. Weather was a bit on the wet side, and windy one night, but it just added to the sense of wilderness. I gather it's open year 'round. I can see myself heading back in the winter months.
