We stayed on the unserviced sites right at the beach for 2 nights and a beautiful sunset whilst watching seals and a mink (I think) finding some food. $25 / night and $2 for showers which was gladly paid as they were hot and good unlike some other campsites we recently visited. Overall nice clean / quiet campsite right at the water.

We rented the comfort 5th wheel trailer. It wa clean well located and very comfortable. The destination is between port McNeil and telegraph cove. We went to Malcolm island by ferry and it was only 10 minutes from the resort. We saw a mama bear and two cubs at the entrance. It was highly memorable. Staff are great. Wood is well priced and the wifi works ok, not great. Only thing missing was a wine bottle opener but friendly neighbours had one. Absolutely no complaints. Sea lion in the water too!

Never stayed at Alder Bay Resort but we kept hearing about Lata’s Kitchen as a fantastic place to eat so we went with a large group for fish and chips one evening and it was simply the BEST! It’s an outside venue(food truck) partly covered so it can be cool and it can be wet so pick your days. Nothing fancy but you have a view of the ocean and neighbouring Alert Bay (bring a jacket in case of wind). It was so good we took company twice more and everything we tried on the menu was great! Walked around the campground and docks after dinner and it looked nice, clean and was very busy. Talked to a few locals from Port McNeil and they said they come for the food at Lata’s at least once a week! We will be back!

We stayed at Alder Bay Resort while on a kayak adventure in Johnson strait on North eastern Vancouver Island. We reserved a waterfront site (26). This site is on a small elevation overlooking the Sandy beach and has a dramatic view to Alert Bay. We wanted to learn if it was safe and reasonable to explore this area by kayak without a guide. It was easy and great. One day was no wind, the next day was a slight wind from North East. It was best with no wind. The sites are close together, with power (25 amp shared by 2 sites), water ans sewer. Grounds and facilities for fishing and kayaking are ideal. The location is great. We saw orca whales for the kayaks. Friendly helpful staff and great fish and chips lunch and diner cafe.

Some of the best fishing & whale watching are just 2 of the activities available from this resort. Sit back & enjoy the ocean views & magnificent sunsets from your campsite. There's an excellent food truck on site so you can dine out rather than having to do all the cooking. Very helpful staff who can answer all of your questions. We have been coming back every summer for the last 5 years.
