What a great relaxing place to stay! Sitting on the porch looking at the serenity of the lake and snow-capped mountains behind took away all the city chaos. Kim and Al are such gracious hosts and willing to help with anything. You can explore other nearby lakes or just sit and enjoy Crooked. The cabin (#3) was cozy from the wood-burning stove and all the bedding, towels, and kitchen needs were supplied. The generator was on from 5pm to 10 pm; otherwise it was solar. We were never without hot water and the water pressure of the shower was wonderful. Great way to get off the grid and tune into yourself.

There is a poster in the girl’s washroom at Crooked Lake Resort that sets out “Life’s Little Instructions.” When I first read it, I assumed it was just a random piece of art hung to decorate the space. But after spending a weekend with Kim and Al, the owners and hosts of Crooked Lake Resort, it became clear that they follow those instructions; they practice what the poster preaches. When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and personally escorted to our camp site which was located directly across from the playground, the ideal spot for our group which included young children. Every evening Kim and Al walk through the resort to check on their guests and see if they need anything. It’s the camping equivalent of a turndown service. They are engaging and attentive with guests of all ages. Kim invited the kids to collect worms for her compost in exchange for freezies, a challenge and reward that the kids loved. She gave them homemade cookies and cake. Al showed them the tractor and generator and let them use the wood splitter. It was exciting for the kids to burn wood, they cut themselves, on their own campfire. Driving home, Riel said her favourite part of the weekend was the tractor tour! Life’s Little Instructions: “buy whatever kids are selling on card tables in their front yards” and “wave at kids on school buses.” The Resort is as wonderful as its hosts. Pets are family and they are welcome. There is a greenhouse that supplies Crooked Cooking, the restaurant. The cabins and the campgrounds manage to be just the right mix of rugged and refined. For example, RV sites have power but it’s only available in the evenings when the generator is running. There are dry sites available. You can pick between outhouses or flushing toilets; a choice Riel was most thankful for since she believes alligators live in outhouses. There is a wash house, a ramada with a picnic table and free hot showers, little luxuries when you’re tenting. Best of all, the campsites are enormous and the resort’s location is beautiful. Essentially everyone gets waterfront property, overlooking snow capped mountain peaks. The Resort is remote so the lake is quiet and chances are you may be the only one on, or in, the water. There are no weeds in the swimming area and the water is brisk. We brought our paddleboards and enjoyed a lot of time on the water. The quiet, calm lake was the perfect place for the kids to practice paddling on their own. Life’s Little Instructions: “sing in the shower,” (it’s hot and free) “plant flowers every spring,” (in the greenhouse) “have a dog,” (or many) “leave the toilet seat in the down position,” (alligators!) “keep it simple,” and “watch a sunrise at least once a year.” Life’s Little Instructions: “never waste an opportunity to tell someone you love them.” Such fun we had, we made a reservation for Father’s Day weekend next year, in the exact same sites, before saying “see you later” to our new friends.

We love this place! Kim and Al are very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The resort is in an amazing location, with beautiful views all around. We had great weather for our long weekend. We stayed in Cabin 3, which has two bedrooms, a full bathroom, small kitchen, and wood stove for heat. The cabin was clean and neat, and fit our family of 4 perfectly. We also borrowed a boat and 3 kayaks, which were all in good repair. Overall, we had a wonderful experience, and we are planning another trip to the resort again soon.

We took our motor home and would definitely recommend the Likely/Horsefly road from 150 Milehouse over the first road we tried. When we arrived our congenial hosts were waiting to welcome us and to get us settled in. They have to be the worlds best hosts, always accommodating and always with a warm smile. Make no mistake this is rustic but it is exactly the type of camping we enjoy so for us it was perfect. The lake and scenery are breathtaking. We had our mountain bikes and our boat with us, so we had a chance to take in a multitude of activities and see much of the countryside. We had water and electric hookups, and having a wash house for dishes and free showers we were able to stay easily for a week with no concerns. We loved our time there and look forward to another visit soon. Thank you Al and Kim for being so awesome!

We decided to go for a drive to Crooked Lake Resort one afternoon this past weekend as we haven't been there for a few years. We were warmly welcomed by Al and Kim. They are so down to earth, genuine and kind people. We had a lovely lunch made by Kim and we thoroughly enjoyed their company. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I were camping in a tent on a lake about 30 km away. We heard about the resort from some other folks we encountered at a different lake and headed over on our ATVs to have a look. We decided to move to the resort for three days and it was the best three days of our trip. Al and Kim are lovely hosts and we felt immediately welcomed. I read another review that mentioned the Crooked Lake family and I agree with that feeling. Although I prefer my vacation time alone to read and enjoy the beauty of the lake and mountains, I also felt as though I could walk up the hill to the main house and Kim or Al would welcome us in if we needed anything at all. We will definitely be making this the focus of our next trip into the area. I loved it.

We came up with this rather last minute idea to get away with family and friends this Family Day Weekend. I suggested Crooked Lake Resort, as we have stopped by there during summers past for ice, phone calls or a quick hello. We told ourselves what a great idea would be to go in the winter! I emailed Kim and she let us know the road was not plowed all the way in so we would have to come in 30 kms by Snowmobile. Great, we were up for a challenge. R&J arrived Friday afternoon and were warmly welcomed by Kim and Al. The Longhouse, the biggest cabin, which is awesome log house was toasty and all set up when they got in. The other 4 of us came in Saturday to a cheerful welcome ! The cabin was well equipped with everything we needed for cooking, sleeping, showering etc. Views off the front deck, wow.... We had a cozy bonfire infront of the cabin, sitting on snow benches that were dig out of the snow. We put on alot of miles that weekend. Thankfully Kim and Al joined us on a couple rides. (Thanks for getting me unstuck Al !) We broke some trails through to other lakes, we stopped and roasted hot dogs, smokies and ate some chocolate covered strawberries (❤️Kim). Had a fly by from a small yellow plane by a local neighbor while we enjoyed our feast. Each day we set out on a new adventure, ice fishing, snowmobiling and just getting out in to the fresh air and beautiful scenery all around us. We ate like Kings, we laughed til our stomachs hurt. I cannot wipe the smile off my face when I recall all the wonderful memories we made this weekend. I highly recommend Crooked Lake Resort, anytime of year! I can't say enough great things bout how wonderful the entire experience was. Counting down the days until we can go again !!

We spent two nights at Crooked Lake Resort with wonderful Al and Kim, and had the most memorable time. Having to snowmobile in to the resort only started the adventure! The cabin was soo cozy, the meal Kim made us for New Year's eve was over-the-top-good, and the two feet of snow that fell while we were there made it even better. Al built an amazing snow pile (that became the start of a snow fort) for my daughter, and made so many little trails around the property to get around. An amazing time, and we hope to go back. These two hosts exude joy that is contagious!!

July 2019, and we were camping at Crooked Lake and saw the resort in the distance, across the lake. We phoned to see if we might have a dinner there. Kim and Al were the best! I am terribly late in posting this review but must not reflect on the graciousness, friendship, and excellence of what we found at Crooked Lake Resort! Kim prepared us one of the best meals we have ever have ever experienced. Yes, we are campers (Toyota van style) but we visit many fine restaurants in our travels thru the U.S. and Canada and rarely find a meal prepared as superbly as Kim's. Lamb meatballs with dill and mint, Chicken breast stuff with feta and sun-dried tomatoes. We loved our meal and the company of this wonderful couple who after the meal invited us to sit outdoors around a pit fire and chat with them. They were delightful hosts. We shall return to Crooked Lake and whether camping or staying in one of their cabins we will visit them. I know we plan on another dinner! We had 3 months on the road including a month in British Columbia and Crooked Lake Resort and hosts Kim and Al were a find! The woods, mountains and lake were outstanding. Now a favorite.

Discovered this little gem online looking for an anniversary get away. The drive to the resort was beautiful and the roads were in really good shape. As soon as we pulled in to the resort we were welcomed and made to feel at home. As the weekend progressed we felt like we became part of the crooked lake family! Kim and Al are wonderful hosts who will do everything in their power to make sure u are comfortable and relaxed! The cabins although rustic are very clean , comfortable and well stocked. We stayed in cabin three which has solar power, running water and a shower! It was great! This was our first trip to crooked lake resort, it will not be our last! The scenery around the resort is amazing!! Al and Kim are very knowledgeable about the area, and are helpful in planning day trips!! One of my new favorite places! You won’t regret your decision to stay here!! I can’t wait for my time to go back!!!
