This campground was so run down, staff was unfriendly. They did not warn us of a wedding taking place there, so the second night we were kept up until 2 am, thus we chose to leave early, which they would not refund us for.

When we called to make a reservation they said they would give us a particular site but when we got there they moved us to a site right by the lake. That was great. They have a couple of small beaches and one of them is pet friendly. It was a warm day but dog was only willing to go swimming once. Maybe the water was a bit chilly. Most of the sites in the resort are rented on a semi-permanent basis. People have built shelters, decks, fences and planted flowers. They do, however, have drop-in spaces throughout the area, some of them by the lake and stream. The tenting area is right on the lakeshore. Services are basic but we didn't need much for one night. The staff and even the seasonal campers were quite friendly. They don't have "streetlights" but some campers have solar-powered lights. That didn't hamper our wonderful view of the stars and the milky way during the night. They do have a dock and boat rentals but we didn't try them out. If you're looking for a short stay or even a longer stay to go boating or fishing, this is a nice quiet resort.

The boat we rented looked like it was from WW2. After we looked past the ancient psychical appearance, trying not to judge a book by its cover, my brother in law got on the bot, started it, got 10ft out of the marina and it died on him. After he got it started he got a little further into the middle of the lake, and it died on him again. The waves were smashing the boat against the rocks, they are lucky he didn’t jump off and abandon the boat. He had to be rescued by some locals who say they rescue people who have rental bits from WoodBury Marina ALL the time. Never EVER again.

This is a warm, welcoming, and friendly resort. Many locals stay year round. The grounds are kept clean and the rooms in the cabins are very clean and cozy. Rates are very reasonable. Food at the restaurant is excellent! Great place to bring the family. Bingo on Friday nights and pancake breakfast Sundays. Views are beautiful!

I wouldn't call it a 'resort'. It's a campground. It's a multi-faceted, slightly chaotic, 'rustic' camping experience. It's not that we didn't enjoy ourselves, but....it's just important for people to know what to expect....and that is - a kind of middle of the road experience. Friendly enough front desk staff, but....they still use an old hand-written book for reservations, and....seem a bit disorganized. We stayed in the cabin, which was quite nice, but again.....this is a RUSTIC experience. Beds were ok, the cabin and it's supplies are dated but sufficient, there is an ceiling fan (no a/c), shower is a bit old and long-in-the-tooth, etc. I'd say it's a bit expensive at $110. But it's not terrible, either....so, as long as you know what you're in for (NOT the Fairmont....), you will likely be ok. The entire feel of the campground is a bit....unorganized, or scattered. You've got some cabins, that seem a bit run down and need some maintenance/upgrades. They all seem to be showing their age. Some 'motel' rooms, which have a 'view', but are basically a few rooms of a trailer, with a common deck. There are many campground spaces which are, in my opinion, quite close together. A very basic, dated, playground structure for kids, but a fairly decent pool. Most of the folks here are long-term residents. There is not much in the way of a view from any of the cabins - there are lots of long term residents in the way. The pub, JB's, is decent enough, perhaps even 'good' but.....I wouldn't rave about it. That said, they were quick, gave good portions, and were friendly to deal with. Yes..the main site bathrooms need love. The campground as a whole could use a little love and upgrading. But, if you know what you're getting up front, I think the right kind of person could really enjoy themselves here. I'm just not sure that person was me. So....not hideous, but, not a stunning experience either. Just kinda...middle of the road.
