Grand Hotel Sunny Beach is often lauded for its prime location near the beach, shops, and nightlife. Guests have called out the hotel's cleanliness, noting the daily room service and fresh towels. The rooms receive compliments for their comfort and modernity, although space can be an issue. While the amenities offer room for improvement, with a small pool and limited entertainment, the value proposition is generally appreciated, especially for budget-conscious travelers. However, the service has drawn criticism due to issues with communication and staff responsiveness.

Great location right on the beach front you need your room key for the gate in and out food was nice always fresh and plenty of it lot,s of choice the the cleaner on floor 7 was amazing!!!! fresh sheets and towels every day she came in and made the beds cleaned the bathroom and balcony lovely lady pleasant and happy every day got this holiday as a last minute cheap deal and overall I was happy with what I paid for I,ve always said if you want luxury then pay for it as this wont make everyone happy if I was to complain it would be about the pool area sunbeds are crammed in like sardines in a tin barely enough for the size of the hotel the pool is far smaller than the photos make it look never got in it all week didn't want to squeeze past loads of sun bathers to get in it there are signs round the hotel about NOT reserving sunbeds but they are ignored and staff do nothing about it so you have to spend your holiday getting up ridicously early putting a towel on one if you want one, not my cup of tea so your then forced to either sit at a table a chair to catch some sun or head to the beach which is right out the gate but if you want a lounger there it,s 9 lev each and a further 9 lev if you want the umbrella or lay on the sand for free. There are 12 floors in total at the hotel and 2 very small lifts to get to these so you can spend a while waiting for a lift at busy times. The rooms are clean and bed was comfy but they are badly in need of updating very old fashioned but I personally don't go away to stay in the room it's a place to get ready and sleep which I did very well so quite never heard a thing all week I would stay here again if I couldn't get one with a bigger poolside as for me I love to swim but it was impossible here my only dissapointment of the week the highlights of the holiday itself was paragliding for the first time you can find these along the beach along with other water sports we paid 160 lev for 2 people fantastic well worth it the camel park excursion is a must too lovely and clean 50 lev each includes entry and camel ride plus a photo other animals there too was a great day out if you have never had your feet nibbled this is a must only 10 lev tickles like mad they can be found along the strip as you walk along.

Thank you so much for your feedback and input. We are aware that the swimming pool is smaller for the number of guests we have at the hotel but we do hope that guests would also choose to visit the beach. We hope to see you again next summer

This is I hope a fair review. I am an independent travel agent so have traveled around.
Location:
Located on Sunny Beach strip this is a great location. The hotel is secure and has a security gate accessed by your key card to get on and off the strip. You are in the heart of everything so if you want the shops, bars, restaurant or beach it is right in your doorstep.

Hotel:
The hotel itself self is clean and minimalist. Which I like.
I was on third floor with a rubbish view, but I am sure other rooms have nicer views. The bathroom was small but sufficient.
The rooms were cleaned daily with towel changes etc.
if you are a pool person then this may not be for you. The pool is tiny for the number of people, I personally didn’t go in the pool as it was just too small and compact. Even with not many people it felt crowded.

Disappointed

Food and drink.
The food and drinks were not the best if I am honest. You will always find something you like and you won’t starve. There was lots of variety but just not to my personal taste. I found the food bland and lack of any seasoning! The place was clean and hygienic. The location is great so lots of places to eat around.
The drinks were awful. Watery, and just not nice. I heard lots of people complaining.

I was disappointed that it seemed to be advertised on the beach but you have to pay for the sun loungers and the shades, this was about £10 a day. Most people just bought a parasol to save money as that can add up.

I was also disappointed they don’t give you towels for the swimming pool. We traveled without beach towels. They are very very cheap to buy (£4) but I would have liked to have know this ahead of time.

All in all this hotel was given marks on its location. Bulgaria was stunning with lots to offer.

Just back from 11 days in sunny Beach at Grand Hotel. We arrived on the last few days of May and then first week of June 2024. The resort of sunny Beach was just about 90% open with some places still shut but its early season so probably wait until at least the first week of June to go. The hotel has been modernised and you can see they have done a good job. Everything is clean and fresh. The food was a little unusual and some times I just couldn't find anything I liked. I'm really not a fan of horse meat or breaded vegetables. The spirits from bottles were good but some of the cocktails came from pre mixed boxes and not the best. The beer was called Diana and it says 3% ABV but it felt like half that. Plus it was flat and tasteless. Not good for me as I'm a beer drinker and the wine was awful too.

The hotel is situated just up the promenade from the main strip called Flower Street. The pool is a little small and shallow but it is very easy to leave the pool area and cross over to the beach and sea.
Don't relay on the life guard around the pool as he never pays any attention to what's happening.
The hotel entertainment is sporadic and sometimes over by 8.30pm then the lights go on and you can sit in silence or you can go out and spend your money in the local area. There is a sports bar located right at the front doors to the hotel which they claim is independently run and you can buy your drinks in there. Otherwise head out to the various bars and clubs only a few minutes walk. We ate out many times as I just couldn't find anything to eat.

I would recommend this hotel for the over 60's as the majority of people staying there were quite elderly and they seemed to like sitting there in silence. They also liked the food.
The hotel has 12 floors with great views of the beach if your lucky.

Getting to Nessebar is really easy on the bus and we did it many times just to get away from the hotel pool.and crowds.

Overall we have really enjoyed our time at The Grand sunny beach the food is amazing and delicious especially the dessert stand (see photo) I can’t fault it, the staff seem a bit miserable 😞 , but we had to buy us own water for the room as we only got one bottle and we were here for a week, although i bought small bottles and kept refilling them at the drinks station. The communal area and lifts are far too small for the amount of rooms. It’s one small pool for over 1000 guests and 2 lifts that hold 4 people at a time and not enough sun loungers and the could do with a good clean. however the location is fantastic it’s a 2 minute walk to the beach and all the shops and night life with its own private gate which makes it very assessable.
The entainment is good but need to be better advertised as it’s only shown what’s on each day so would be better showing what’s on each week so the guests can plan around the entainment events. The room is great it has a wet room shower and there’s a mop left on the corridor to avoid slipping after use and the air con in the rooms and TV which are easy to use and the beds are comfortable with a choice of pillow types.

Definetly picked the wrong hotel in Sunny Beach, where to start........hotel and staff were shabby the whole place needs a massive refurbishment including the staff who at some points were just damn right rude(and yes i know thats the way some eastern european's come across)but everything seemed like too much of an effort for the majority, cleaners didnt really bother with the rooms we had a cup in our bathroom that didn't move for the duration of our stay, same as the hair in the shower ,the hair on the side of the sink only moved because i touched it thinking it was a crack in sink.the cistern still wasn't fixed even though reception were told on 1st morning, fridge was rusty and filthy ,was a lottery if bed got made, weirdly got made on our last morning before we'd packed our cases and why would you MOP a carpet with a dirty mop whats wrong with a vacuum.

The food was okay, the same with all these places but to be fair if u couldn't find something to eat you must be really fussy lol!! Entertainment was not that good and u definetly felt like u were in the way at the Bar obviously they'd rather u go out.

On our arrival the receptionist Maria couldn't even crack a smile. Her face stayed the same throughout the entire week. When booking we had the option of a double or twin room. We chose the double. When we arrived we were given a twin which even though Maria said it was clean stunk of cigarettes that it trigged an asthma attack. We asked for a room change due to this and the fact it was not a double. Maria argued that a twin is a double. We eventually got given a double room. There was no plug point either side of the bed the only one free was opposite the bed and my husbands cpap machine could not reach. We asked if they had a cable and was told no. The length of the machine cable is 3m which is normally enough. The beds are so low that my husband struggled to get back off of it so he asked if there were any higher beds or mattress to go on this one and yet again told no. He slept in a chair the 1st night. We contacted Tui to be told we can swap hotels the next day but the rep did not like this and told them we changed our minds. We were moved yet again to another room. All the rooms are I need of renovation and you can hear everything from the next room. The food is mainly unedible due to being over cooked and is repeated day in day out. Soups and sauces are very watery and flavourless. Bottled water is NOT in the all inclusive deal and the bars shut at 10. There is lots of different kinds of bread which toast well and is available at each meal. There show brand drinks but hide what is in the all inclusive. The pub at the front of the hotel is great and so is the funny bar in town. The hotel does not have enough space to accommodate the amount of guests staying here and tables to sit atand sun loungers are always limited.
The only good thing about the hotel is the location. Next time we will be going self catering as it is so cheap to eat and drink outside.

We paid a lot of money for this week's holiday and I personally don't think it was worth it the food wasn't great all inclusive our room wasn't great either especially the bathroom I reported to reception that the sink plug would not open and the water was coming out through the waste pipe and dripping on the tiled floor making it unsafe and slippery they said someone would fix it and they did fix plughole but not leaking waste pipe then when we had a shower today the water was pouring out from under the bath I went back to reception and reported this I was told someone was coming up to sort this out only to come back 6 and a half hours later to find it in exactly the same way it was flooded went back to reception at 12.25 just after midnight and no one about rang bell for service nothing so landed up taking bucket and mop and sorting it out myself. The bedroom and bathroom ceiling and walls had mould/damp on them and shower rail was rusty. We also needed a taxi one night and lady behind reception said a member of staff would take us who then charged us 25lev. I don't know weather its because its the Last week of the season but reception staff not very helpful. Restaurant and bar staff were opposite lovely people and very attentive.

Just returned from a week in the Grand Hotel Sunny Beach that was not so grand, rooms are old fashioned, run down and dowdy. Unable to get a sun lounger, as there was not enough sun loungers for people, the pool was really small.

The food, there was plenty of it, but the food was bland and repetitive, if you like salad you was ok, there was lovely salads and lovely desserts. However, main meals was poor, hotdog sausages and chips seem to be the main cuisine of a night. There was plenty of alcoholic drinks, cheap lager and local rum and cheap cola, cocktails was available but poor.

Seen very little entertainment on a evening and the kids club lasted an hour maximum of a night and was evident during the day for short periods. On the plus side the location was fabulous a short walk to the beach, which cost 27lv a day to spend there and there was plenty of shops and restaurants nearby which sold lovely food for a small amount.

Lovely little bar called 'the pub' was right on the door step, lovely food and proper alcoholic drinks and very cheap, lovely friendly bar man and atmosphere.

To think Tui upgraded our hotel was very disappointed looks better than it actually is and wouldn't go there again. Some staff friendly, younger staff very rude and not engaging. Air conditioning in the room was poor, in the very hot temperatures adn did not even cool the room.

I’ve just come back from the hotel after a weeks stay with a friend. When you first arrive the main entrance looks quite modern. Checked in got a sea view was nice to wake up to ever day . The rooms need some TLC are dated look like something out the 70s . Quite tired. The shower was good and fast and the beds were comfortable. You get a free safe and fridge . 95% of staff were friendly and hard working and it was clean . The location was very good you had a gate that went out to the beach /bars /and shops again the outside could do with a lick of paint looked tired. Pool area was nice sunbeds are a problem unless your up early . What let this hotel down for me and my friend was the food not very good at all no taste to it warm long queues a few people we spoke to said the same ended up eating out the last few nights . And the bar closed at 10 for drinks could of done with it opening to 11/12 this is just my opinion spend some money up dating it and sorting the food out and it would be a 5 for me

The food was good, could eat something at every meal . Staff were nice , great location for the beach and shops . The reception area and eating area looks quite modern but that's were it ends . Our room was dirty , out dated , thread bear carpets . My mom was ill for the first 4 days and stayed in the room , saw the cleaner use the same piece of rag that she cleaned the toilet with to clean the rest of the room . Moped the carpets for 11 days never vacuum. The entertainment was a male singer on the Tuesday he was superb and khan's tent is a must . Everyone at the hotel seemed to be ill and coughing so when we got home we all tested positive for covid . I would not go here again
