Grand hotel… where do I start. If you’re after a holiday where you feel safe and welcomed. DO NOT stay here. I’ve been to sunny beach many of times and it is by far my favourite place! This hotel however was terrible. I came with my partner for 2 weeks. From the first day we didn’t feel welcome. We was greeted with a dry apple and croissant (which however we still thought was a nice gesture) whenever we walked past reception there was never a hi or anything, just evil looks. A couple of days in, me and my partner was leaving our room to go for some food and as we was leaving we let the maid in. We later came back to our room to discover my partners mental health medication from his bedside table was gone. We searched the room upside down and still nothing. We told the reception and they laughed in his face and automatically assumed they were illegal drugs. (We had proof they wasn’t with his prescription) they then came into our room while I was undressed in bed and threw our clothes around to ‘help’ find the medication. They suggested that the maid had accident thrown them away. (I struggle to understand how it could be mistaken for rubbish) They then made my partner (a guest in their hotel) root through the huge outside bins, early hours of the morning, on his own bare handed while they stood and watched him. Honestly you couldn’t write it!! As he still had no look finding it, a member of staff then offered my partner some street drugs from (people she knew) which obviously he said no to. My partner has been on this medication for 3 years so for the next 2/3 days of our holiday he had withdrawals and struggled leaving the room. We had to tell the repetition that we didn’t want the maid (someone we are supposed to trust) cleaning our room. Therefore we had to do it ourselves for the rest of the holiday. We spoke to a couple more English people who also had had their meds taken. For the rest of the holiday, we was made to feel as if we had done something wrong and felt so uncomfortable every time we was near staff as they would snigger and speak in their own language to eachother. Please please don’t go to this hotel.

I would not return to this hotel again. Initially we were in room 106 which was abysmal! The 'double' bed was tiny. There was no headboard it was only about a foot high, and pushed up against the wall. This meant one of us had to climb over the other to get in and out. The room was grubby with an awful brown threadbare carpet. The fridge was filthy and smelt. The balcony was awful with a view of the level above and the flat roof of the pub below - there was no natural light and was noisy and smoky from the pub! We complained and were given a room a few floors higher -although we had a better view outside it was still very tatty and dated inside. The balcony had rusting rails and crumbling plaster with no cover on the drainage hole. The location of the hotel was good, with lots of bars and resturants on the doorstep. There was only entertainment in the hotel on 2 nights we were there and the all inclusive ended at 10pm. We were opposite the beach but had no free sunbeds -We were charged 27 lv per day !! The sunbeds at the hotel were quickly reserved in the mornings -despite signs warning against it, and there were not enough beds for the amount of guests at the hotel.

Sunny Beach is such a beautiful place to visit and we love Bulgaria but if we were to come back again we would definitely choose a different hotel. We arrived at gone midnight from a 4pm flight from Birmingham and was handed a bag with some dried croissants, a muffin and an apple. We went into our room and the electric socket was hanging off the wall, the fridge didn’t work and was filthy and we had three single beds although we had booked a double room. We tried to ring reception but the phone didn’t work so we went downstairs to talk to them and they said we could move rooms but not until the morning when the day staff came in. We never got to move rooms. The problem with the electrics and fridge went on all week, they just kept swapping the fridge and saying it worked. The day before we left the handy man came barging into our room even though the Do not disturb sign was on so I sent him away as we were still in bed. He then came back later barging in again without knocking as I was getting out of the shower. He spoke no English but was shouting at us and showing us we were wrong as the socket was showing it lights up on his device. When we showed him it didn’t on our extension lead he still shouted and plugged the tv in and realised then it wouldn’t work. We said it’s the socket that needs sorting as it had done all week and I showed him the picture. Once he saw that he said sorry, shook my husbands hand and then fixed it (this is the day before our departure). The day off our departure we had a late flight and wasn’t being picked up until 7pm so we still had the room until 6pm. We went for a walk on the beach as we had lots of hours to kill and when we returned for lunch we couldn’t get back in, our key had been deactivated. Another guest let us in and we went to reception who said we were no longer guest there so our key wouldn’t work anymore even though we had the room till 6pm and our transfer wasn’t until 7pm (this was only midday) . Our rep all week moaned at us for reporting our issues in the TUI app and said we had to report to him but he was only available in the middle of the day and we didn’t want to be hanging around wasting our holiday waiting for him. We just feel the whole week we have just been shouted at and treated rubbish for things that are not our fault. The hotel is all inclusive but you can’t get any drinks after 10pm so you had to go out if you want any more drinks. The food was ok and you could find something to eat. The pool is tiny and the pictures are very misleading but the hotel is right on the beach so that’s a positive. There was hardly any entertainment on and what was on was over within an hour, bingo night lasted ten minutes so again you had to leave the hotel to find your own entertainment. Sunny Beach itself is lovely and a few nice places to visit. If you can do the tour to Sleeping Beauty’s castle then I highly recommend a visit there. We also did Kahn’s tent which was good but the entertainment although excellent only lasted an hour so it is a long evening although the band were playing throughout. We went the second week of September and the beginning of the week was warm 24-25 but got colder and windier as the week went on with some rain, cold at night. There is also only two weeks left of the season by this point so somethings had started shutting down so maybe going a bit earlier in the year is better although more expensive in the school holidays and busier. Overall we love Bulgaria but sadly Grand Hotel we will not be staying there again.

Definetly picked the wrong hotel in Sunny Beach, where to start........hotel and staff were shabby the whole place needs a massive refurbishment including the staff who at some points were just damn right rude(and yes i know thats the way some eastern european's come across)but everything seemed like too much of an effort for the majority, cleaners didnt really bother with the rooms we had a cup in our bathroom that didn't move for the duration of our stay, same as the hair in the shower ,the hair on the side of the sink only moved because i touched it thinking it was a crack in sink.the cistern still wasn't fixed even though reception were told on 1st morning, fridge was rusty and filthy ,was a lottery if bed got made, weirdly got made on our last morning before we'd packed our cases and why would you MOP a carpet with a dirty mop whats wrong with a vacuum. The food was okay, the same with all these places but to be fair if u couldn't find something to eat you must be really fussy lol!! Entertainment was not that good and u definetly felt like u were in the way at the Bar obviously they'd rather u go out.

Beach sun lounges not free! This is the first All inclusive hotel that charges for this. Lower the price of them at least. A weeks holiday adds an extra £100 each. Also, how can we play Uno in the sand I ask you? Seriously though, message me if you know how.

The food was good, could eat something at every meal . Staff were nice , great location for the beach and shops . The reception area and eating area looks quite modern but that's were it ends . Our room was dirty , out dated , thread bear carpets . My mom was ill for the first 4 days and stayed in the room , saw the cleaner use the same piece of rag that she cleaned the toilet with to clean the rest of the room . Moped the carpets for 11 days never vacuum. The entertainment was a male singer on the Tuesday he was superb and khan's tent is a must . Everyone at the hotel seemed to be ill and coughing so when we got home we all tested positive for covid . I would not go here again

Lovely beach right outside, but it's unfair to pay 19lv pp for sunbed and parasole. Sea gets choppy later in the afternoon Shopping is great for all your cheap "designer" clothes and souvenirs, drinks and snacks etc. Watch out for the idiots who hire scooters and whip in and out of the crowds! Hotel: ok but not 4* Easy and quick check-in and directed to our rooms, which we found with no problems. The room was ok, with comfortable beds, clean but clearly needs updating. Maid service was very good, but pity coffee/tea not replenished during our stay. Towels are not a great size, but ok - bring your own. Sunbeds - there is a notice to say don't reserve, but everyone ignores this request, so no lie in at Grand Beach if you want a sun bed. Clearly, there are not enough beds for the guests. Don't be deceived by the pool. It is very cold, about 1.2 m deep, and access for guests with poor mobility does not exist. Big step in / out of the pool and no hand rail. The pool side bar is managed by a lovely man who is very friendly. Hotel pool entertainment is literally none existent. 2 girls walk to the side of the pool x3 daily, complete a very poor dance routine, and then dissappear for a couple of hours , return for 30 minutes of darts and vanish again! 30 minutes of water polo and that is your lot! The girls need to encourage guests to participate more or they should not bother at all as what is offered is embarrassing! Food and drink: you will not starve. There is plenty to eat and drink throughout the day but like all hotels, they can't cater for everyone. The all inclusive ends at 10pm which I feel let's the hotel down massively. The small pub outside the main entrance is owned by the hotel so guess after 10pm there is that option! Very friendly little pub with cheap drinks but can get quite loud and smokey especially with no breeze and the side shutters closed. Great to watch sports and karaoke though. This is an honest review. Would I stay here again? Not personally but this is because I expect more from an all inclusive holiday. The lack of sunbeds and really poor (and I mean poor) entertainment really let's this place down. It could be a lovely place to return if improvements were made but Ican't see this happening soon. We had a taxi transfer to and from the airport as it takes over 2 hours transfer time from what other guests told me. First half of the holiday was predominantly populated by none English which is fine but they were so rude. Second half was much better with more English and guests mingled more which made the holiday more bearable. Minimal entertainment for children so at least they got the same treatment as everyone else! Toilet roll is very thin - bring your own. You get complimentary water and a bag containing fruit and pastry for late check in which was nice. On a plus side the weather was beautiful with Minimal clouds. I know people vary with reviews but as already said, an honest review. I have never been to an all inclusive which conducts itself in the way this hotel does but maybe, it is the normal for Bulgeria SB Grand Hotel. OK holiday but expected more.

Rooms need upgrades , needs more plug sockets in rooms , pool and communal areas not big enough for amount of guests , the flying team have no get up and go at all they don’t get the guests interested in any of the activities.Good variety of food but very bland and not enough staff on the bars at busy times. 50% of the staff members were great but the other 50% didn’t want to be here and they were quite rude muttering under their breath, but overall great location and Peter the entertainer/singer on a Tuesday night was one of the hotels great assets got everyone in the holiday spirit ,but we will return to sunny beach but not necessarily here 7 years we have been coming to sunny beach and our first time at the grand x thanks sunny beach till next time x

Horrendous AVOID AT ALL COST!!! Was sold this by a young travel agent as a destination for a young couple. How wrong she was. Its the equivalent of an old peoples home in the sun. The rooms are bare, old fashioned and in need of a good clean. The pool is tiny, the bars small with entertainment bad enough to make you turn straight around and out the door. The food was horrific, unless you are into over boiled veg, mashed potato and smiley faces! ! We lasted 3 days there while trying to get moved out to a different hotel. Couldnt get sat in the bar area as people were asleep in their chairs. An absolute waste of hard earned cash. Had to pay an extra £500 to move to a hotel that in the brochure is only £100 more to start with! Tui are extremely good at ripping people off. Holiday rep was rude and made me feel like it was my fault that i wasnt happy. Overall a miserble hotel and a miserable 3 days.
