smartline Meridian is a modern hotel in the popular resort of Sunny Beach, on Bulgaria's Black Sea coast. It's a few steps from the shore, where you'll find white sands and shallow water for swimming and paddling. A short walk from the hotel takes you to the resort's main strip, where you can enjoy family-friendly amusements and visit local cafés and restaurants. The resort is well known for its lively party scene and there are plenty of nightclubs and bars to choose from. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool that's set in gardens and surrounded by a sun deck. There's a separate pool where kids can splash around. You can work out at the hotel gym, or relax with a game of table tennis or pool. If you want to unwind, you can book beauty and wellness treatments at the spa, which is also home to a Turkish bath and sauna. When you feel peckish you'll have a variety of dining options, with three restaurants offering breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as snacks throughout the day. At smartline Meridian you can hire a car and explore the local area, where you'll find sandy beaches and rocky hillsides. You can take a short drive to the ancient town of Nessebar, which sits next to a boat-lined harbour. The town has plenty of bars and restaurants, sitting side-by-side with historic ruins. Beneath the cobbled streets, there's an underground bar where you can sip cocktails in a cave room amid stalagmites and stalactites. If you like shopping, you can browse local shops for souvenirs such as handcrafted ceramics, jewellery and coloured glass.

Booked a trip to Sunny Beach last minute and picked this hotel as it was identified as being in a central location and, as a female solo traveller I thought I'd feel safer here than in an apartment block.
First impressions were good, the hotel lobby is spacious and modern and lived up to the 4 star rating. Checking in was relatively easy, although the language barrier proved a challenge I was given my key quite quickly and made my way up to my room on the 6th floor.
On entering my room I could see it was modestly furnished, two single beds pushed together to create a double. A dressing table with fridge, a chair and table and a large wardrobe were there, with further seating on the balcony which looked out to the sea. The bathroom which was very small was just inside the doorway.
Overall it was adequate but the chair and bed felt like they were made of breezeblocks and were incredibly uncomfortable, in fact the bed was so hard I had to purchase a lilo to sleep on.
The bathroom was just tok small and the shower soaked everything when it was used as there was no screen, just a tatty shower curtain that stuck to your body. The floor of the shower had been reinforced with a metal plate that was hard to stand on and felt really unpleasant.
I chose half board and was looking forward to the food but for me it was poor. It was clearly aimed at the continental contigent, far too much meat, not enough fish and everthing seemed to be slatherred in a sauce of some kind. On one day there was a tray that had bren labelled as 'Lamb Oddments'. Hardly appetising as an introduction and if you eat with your eyes, well.....
Breakfast was similar, there were pancakes and waffles on offer but other guests seemed to think it was ok to take 6+ at a time so unless you wanted to stand and wait they weren't really an option.
The pool area was the best bit although the sun loungers were really uncomfortable. The pool bar wasn't open either which was again disappointing.
I wouldn't recommend this hotel, or the area which seems to have been really decimated by Covid although I did visit Nessebar and that was beautiful.
The 4 star rating is misleading in my opinion and as for the staff, well I found them quite rude but again thst could be down to the lauguage barrier.
Safe to say, I won't be back.

I ve read a lot o reviews concerning this I I've read a lot of reviews about this hotel and if you ask me they are a pack of lies. I expected the worse and got the opposite.
Room: spacious, clean, good smell; cleaning and towels changed every day. Great view (7thfloor). There were some international TV stations.
Restaurant: spacious, placed at 11th floor, with brilliant view over the sea.
Food: good fresh food, salads, fruits. Sea food, fish, pork, kitchen, viel, salad, rice, potatoes, cus cus, beans, eggs, cakes, you name it.......The soddas and coffee were not for pretencios (local brands), but still ok. At breakfast there were the same type of food: boiled egg, fried egg, omlette, sausages, tomatoes, cucumber, pathe, milk, cereals, yogurt, toast, bread, etc etc etc
Playground only for little ones
Bars and food from 8 till 23
Animation: could of been better. Only one girl evolved, it was aqua zumba, darts, water volley/polo, diving, song contests in the evening. Program till 23.
Pool: clean water, near the bar, but too small for a probably 300 rooms hotel.
Parking: small for the hotel, and you could end up parking far from hotel
Internet: free only in the lobby, not very fast.
Elevators: sometime I spent a lot o finutes to step of the elevator, after countless up and down trips. Probably not enough capacity for a 300 rooms hotel.
Personal: kind, smiling at all time.
Safety measures: at all time you may find desinfectsnt bottles everywhere, also warning signs reminding to keep distance, wear mask etc. At meal time you were asked to wear mask and gloves till sitting down. After cleaning the room you could smell the desinfectsnt substances.
Over all, nice place, nice room, good pricing, very tasty food, great position in Sunny Beach, great view from restaurant, small pool, problematic elevators (reception area).

Positive:
This hotel is 7-8 minutes light walking from the beach. We choose deluxe double room with my wife, wich was a very good option, becouse the room was on the other side (back side) of the hotel, with side sea view, and more quieter then the front side, where is a karaoke pub with much noise at nights. The room was big, comfortable, with big terrace. The bathroom is a little bit small, with shower, but what intended for it`s acceptable. Everything is clean, the staff cleans the rooms daily, it`s just perfect. Also the colours are very pleasant. We choose half board, not all inc. The breakfast it`s almost similar every morning, but you have many posibilities to choose, almost every day different kind of food in 10 days of stay. The choclate pancakes are very fine :) The dinner was different every evening, I can say this hotel has one of the best variability of foods, and every food what we consumed was very tasty and good. So, the food is very good. The top (11th floor) restaurant with front see view is something captivating. Breakfast in sunrise, dinner in sunset...beautiful. The staff is very kind, even with this corona sh*t, they are very cooperating.
Negative:
First I have to say it`s outrageous from a 4* hotel on this level how is the Smartline, to obligate (becouse you do not have almost to choose other option) their clients to pay the parking. Even this thing is knewn in advance. Or make your prices included the parking fees, or do something, becouse in my opinion this is very unprofessional. 15 BGN (7.5 euro)/day is too much.
There are two main elevators, wich is few for this hotel, even you can use +1 sometimes and another for the top restaurant. We stay 10 days on 8th floor and most of the time we choose the staircase.

On the whole it`s a good place, with pleasant atmosphere, with good food, with correct price, not far from the beach and the centre (centre -10 min walk aprox).

Dear nyaradia2020, Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your sharing of our hotel, because everyone can have some idea about us and our service. Your opinion of us and our staff is amazing, for which we thank you very much. I can't wait to tell everyone on our team that you rate most things positively - reception, restaurant, cleaning your room. Regarding the parking lot, we must immediately explain that the parking lot belongs to the Municipality of Sunny Beach, and we rent it from the municipality. This is the reason it is paid. Regarding the elevators - we actually have 5 elevators. You are right that even when the hotel is at full capacity of guests, getting around is not easy. We are glad that you were our guest and we hope you will come back again. Best Regards

We stayed for 1 week half board at the end of July/start of August. I had read reviews before booking which made me apprehensive but we continued anyway, although I wish we hadn’t for a few reasons. The hotel has some good points but the bad outweighed them unfortunately.

We had a great sized room and the bathroom was very clean, however the beds are so so hard and uncomfortable! I woke up every morning with a sore back. The bed sheets were also not changed for the whole week we were there which was very disappointing.

The balcony was a good size but not private as there’s only a ‘tinted’ glass partition between you and your neighbour which was a shame. The air con was fantastic in the rooms, but it was a real shame the wifi is only free in the hotel lobby and not your room. Not what you expect from a 4 star hotel.

When we arrived (10pm) we had no towels in the bathroom and when we informed reception the man at the desk was very unhelpful and said he was unable to do anything for us until the morning. This meant we couldn’t shower until the morning which wasn’t ideal after a day of travel.

The location of the hotel was good, there’s restaurants, shops and bars immediately outside. However this caused a problem when it came to the evening as the bar right next door have live music until 12.30pm each evening. We had a sea view room (facing this bar) and you cannot sleep until the music has stopped. If you have young children I would avoid the hotel for this reason.

It is a 20 minute walk to the ‘main’ part of sunny beach (Flowers Street) but there is a train that runs every 15 minutes for 6 levs per adult right outside the hotel if you don’t fancy the walk.

Food in the hotel top floor restaurant was ok, lovely views from outside seats. Lifts to/from the restaurant came with a bit of a wait at meal times but not too bad the rest of the day.

The biggest let down for us was the pool. We had seen some reviews saying you have to pay for sun loungers if you are not all inclusive but this is not true, they are free or charge. However we got up at 7am to get a sun bed and half were already gone! By 8.30 you had no chance of getting one. The pool area is far too small for the number of hotel guests. The beds are so squashed together that you’re practically touching the person next to you. Music was blaring throughout the day so far from the relaxing sunbathing holiday we had in mind. This caused us to pay for sun loungers at a neighbouring resort for the remainder of the holiday which was a shame. For this reason I would not recommend this hotel if you like to chill by the pool on your holiday.

The hotel reception offer later checkout subject to availability. It is 50 levs until 6pm, but there are also options up until midnight I believe if you have a night flight. This was very useful for us as our flight was at 8pm.

Overall if you are just looking for a base and plan to be out of the hotel for most of the day, this is a good option for you. But if you plan to stay around the pool then I’d definitely avoid.

Amenities advertised daily cleaning and bed and towel change that is joke for a start
Had to go to reception 4 times and finally got all changed on third day arrival day towels white and fluffy the one change we got after several complaints towels were grey and very well used. Reported leak from shower base and toilet when flushed. Answer I got was it’s condensation.when I replied I knew difference between condensation and a leak I was ignored had to put towel on floor to soak up leak
Restaurant was a joke children running about unsupervised lifting food tasting and putting back on trays we paid all inc. but ended eating out.all the time I was there and said hello or thank you in restaurant I never once got an answer or even a smile reception is a complete wash out the lady and asst manager were very abrupt and cheeky when asked anything.the safe at reception we hired was 6 inches x8 inches useless for storing tablets.I ended up taking towels from trolley in corridor as I ever seen a maid in full week there used to soak leaks had one change of bedding and that was after 3 visits to deception to complain it hadn’t been done could say lot more but waste of time they are not a smiley stall all parts of hotel as I never seen any smile in 7 days there. STAY. CLEAR

the whole hotel was very dirty, the room was very outdated, the bathrooms were extremely worn and unrenovated, full of grease, the bathtub and shower faucets were very old, the toilet was used and could not be cleaned. the bed was very uncomfortable including the pillows impossible to sleep on. in the hotel room the fridge was full of mold, impossible to use. the rooms were not soundproofed at all, you could hear a lot of noise from the neighbors and from the hallway. also the cleaning ladies made a lot of noise every morning, they talked very loudly. I also chose the all-inclusive option and ended up eating at other counter-cost restaurants. extremely bad food, very little variety, I also found foreign objects in the food. in the morning at breakfast the coffee was horrible, we always buy from somewhere else because it could not be drunk. there is no butter at breakfast, only margarine. also the times for meals were not respected, dinner was until 9 and at half past 8 they collected all the food and started to mop next to our table and under our chairs while we were eating, unbelievable. worst hotel i have ever stayed at. it is not 4 stars and it ruined our whole stay.

even though the price was good, it wasn't worth the money at all, it was more of a hassle than a vacation!

I booked to stay at the Smartline Meridian as part of a package holiday with Jet2. It’s nice to find a hotel that looks exactly like the pictures show on the website.

I chose a half board option which kept me full of food. The catering in this hotel is absolutely excellent. I’ve never enjoyed eating at a hotel in all of my travels as much as I did here. Breakfast is wonderful and dinner is just amazing. Even at the end of the season, the choice and quality of the food is absolutely excellent. I’m going to miss all of the delightful food when I leave!!!!

The hotels location is towards the south of the resort and so it’s around a 10-15 min walk into the main part of the resort, but this wasn’t a problem. The area does seem to be a touch run down, but I tried not to let that bother me. Being away from the centre of the resort means peace and quiet which is nice.

I had a few issues with my room that the hotel staff addressed and rectified for me in a friendly and efficient manner, so much so they let me choose my room that I was moved to, which was a really lovely touch. I sadly had blocked drains in my bathroom and the AC is switched off towards the end of the season, but the helpful gentleman on reception showed me a shaded room away from the hot sun, which was cool and comfortable. I was really grateful for this. The rooms are modern, really large and very very comfortable pleasant indeed. Plenty of power sockets and Wi-Fi of a decent speed is provided in your room for a very small fee. Towels were changed daily and my room cleaned whilst I was enjoying my breakfast.

The pool area is really well kept, clean and very tidy. Sunloungers are plenty and towels are provided by the hotel for a returnable deposit. Drinks are available all day and are very reasonably priced.

Any issue that I had during my stay was met with professional and friendly staff who used personal touches to make me feel like a valued guest rather than an inconvenience to them.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel and would recommend it to anyone in the Sunny Beach area. I will definitely stay here again.

Thank you for a really lovely stay!!!!

We stayed for 7 days in Bulgaria at this hotel the holiday itself was great we had a amazing time but.....
This hotel quality was the most disappointing part of the holiday.

Room.
Day one we were suprised on the size of the room as it was quite big we had a nose around as you do looking around the room we opened the bathroom door to be met with a overwhelming smell of sewage coming from the floor drain this only got worse throughout the day.
We found multiple patches of blood on our sheets
The cleaners rarely made a appearance this was noticed on our 1st day when along with the sewage smell in the bathroom we where greeted by a overflowing bin of used sanitary towels in the from the previous person who stayed.

Air con
I have had stronger battery powered fans than what the hotel calls air con I could of turned it off and not even realised.

Food and drink.
We paid extra for all inclusive and ended eating at the hotel for the 1st 2 days after that we couldn't stand the hotel food any longer no variety at all same food daily usually all inclusive food changes daily but not at this hotel. Grey meat balls, stale pizza and mushy vegetables. I quickly got fed up of making our way up to the 10th floor to find nothing edible. Drinks are hit and miss somedays you get a cup of coke that tasted fine the other days everything no matter what drink was so watered down you couldn't taste what it was. We were offered a birthday meal within the restaurant area but gave it a miss as it was a choice of the same slop. I can only imagine the food that the hotel offered had came from the nearest prison it was that bad.

Staff.
The staff at the bars are fine but if you went to reception with any questions you would be answered with my colleague is in tomorrow ask then or even better the question would be answered with a shoulder shug and a huff and a puff like you where a huge inconvenience.

Location.
Location is ideal it's within the middle of everything and there is a train that runs to the main sunny beach strip not far from the hotel also its a 5 min walk to the beach.

Entertainment.
The entertainment is non existent. By the end of the holiday I did not want to hear the words water polo or beer pong again. These are the only times that you will see your animation team no effort goes into trying to get people to join it's the same games everyday followed by a 30 second dance. We had the chance to see the animation team at the aqua Park resort they where so much better if any one is looking for good entertainment during there stay in Bulgaria I'd suggest they look at the aqua park resort the animation team seemed to actually have fun they got everyone joining in with them and they where interactive and actually entertaining unlike the hotel we stayed at.

Fantastic 4* hotel, booked it with jet2holidays and I was very happy with the hotel, the food and most of the staff.
Now nothing is 100% perfect and neither is this hotel, I arrived at around 22.30 hours on June 29th from Leeds, to be dumped on the main road with no guidance from the coach driver as to where my hotel was! Fortunately for me I knew the hotel as I had been previously and also checked it with Google maps, now the male receptionist was a bit blunt, I checked in he past my my all inclusive wrist band, them gave me a little card with my electronic room key and mumbled 617, so that was my first point of contact with the hotel, he didn't tell me which floor the room was on or which lift to take, but I figured 617 must be on the 6th floor and it was!
My room was spotlessly clean with fresh bedding and towels, there were only 2 electricity sockets so I was glad I had brought an extension lead with me so I could easily charge my phone etc.. but I was very disappointed at the fact the hotel hadn't left a welcome pack, most hotels when you arrive late and the restaurant is closed generally leave you a welcome pack with a bottle of water, a sandwich, fruit etc, but I received nothing, so I had to go to the supermarket to buy some water and a sandwich!
The hotel has 2 restaurants a ground floor one for lunch and the fantastic rooftop restaurant for breakfast and dinner, you had amazing 360 panoramic views of the resort of sunny beach, the food was varied and plentyful, and I would defy anyone who said the choice was limited or boring, there was something for everyone, lunch and dinner were the same, I couldn't fault it.
3 lifts to all floors and easy access for prams or wheelchair user's, so travel in confidence that you will easily get around the hotel.
Definitely would go back to this fabulous hotel, the staff were incredibly friendly and worked tirelessly, my only other complaint was the young boys who ran the evening's entertainment, they played it very loud and they played the music they liked, including gangster rap which included the "F" word and the "N" word, not really suitable when you have young children present...above all that it's still a good clean friendly hotel, with a great selection of food and ice cream.. 8 out of 10 for sure, would have been higher if there had been a welcome pack, and more favourable music...

13 of us went here on 27th July for 2 weeks and after 4 days wanted to come home.
First impressions thought it looked a very nice hotel but it's not.
First day we got there about 3pm and snacks where on they were OK but then tea time trying to get to the top floor to eat is very hard 5 lifts 2 only 4 can fit in and the rest 6 they are also very dangerous they shut on you . Once our 11 year old son whos autistic and grand son 3 years got into the lift and before we could get in the doors shut and lift went up lucky our son managed to keep in the lift until it came back down but he was scared by it .
The food in the restaurant is terrible breakfast is OK if you like it cold but dinner and tea it's things like rabbit, beef in a awful sauce and for kids it's just pizza that could break your leg if you dropped it and chips but nothing else for them.

The rooms.... not bad size but we went 3 days without a cleaner or clean towels and in our daughters room the roof fell in they did change the room and in our room the air con broken and flooded the ceiling when they fixed it they left stains down the wall it was still there when we left

Then the soft play area for the little ones is a mess we found a bit of plastic that looked like a shank a board with nails sticking out battery lieing on the floor watched a cleaner sweep up in there a few times and just sweep it into the corner .

The daytime entertainment consists of darts, volleyball and beer pong for cocktails

The bars are not open has advertised the pool bar does open at 11 but only one barstaff on and beer pump messes up all the time so to get a beer you have to go out or keep waiting it's OK if you want shorts or cocktails at 11 in the morning
The downstairs restaurant has a bar with again only 1 on then the main entertainment bar( if you see any entertainment ) only 1 on most of the time and can only get 2 drinks each but when they is 13 of you not good that. The entertainment is 10 min mini disco almost every night but then after in two week we seen Michael Jackson twice and bulgarian dancing once, no bingo no karaoke mainly nothing every night.

We spoke to the manager and he did not help at all.

We spoke to the area rep about changing hotels but wanted over £2000 to move us and told us it to much hard work for her to help us.

In whole I would advise do not go to this hotel

Been to sunny beach 2 times before and know what the food is like in hotels but this is bad.

I'd avoid it honest they have the most uncomfortable small pull out single bed and just 2 single beds pushed together The room size is good but they are no good at accommodating any requests. All honesty I'd look for another hotel as when me and my fiancé went the worst bit about it was this hotel total letdown
