smartline Meridian is a modern hotel in the popular resort of Sunny Beach, on Bulgaria's Black Sea coast. It's a few steps from the shore, where you'll find white sands and shallow water for swimming and paddling. A short walk from the hotel takes you to the resort's main strip, where you can enjoy family-friendly amusements and visit local cafés and restaurants. The resort is well known for its lively party scene and there are plenty of nightclubs and bars to choose from. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool that's set in gardens and surrounded by a sun deck. There's a separate pool where kids can splash around. You can work out at the hotel gym, or relax with a game of table tennis or pool. If you want to unwind, you can book beauty and wellness treatments at the spa, which is also home to a Turkish bath and sauna. When you feel peckish you'll have a variety of dining options, with three restaurants offering breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as snacks throughout the day. At smartline Meridian you can hire a car and explore the local area, where you'll find sandy beaches and rocky hillsides. You can take a short drive to the ancient town of Nessebar, which sits next to a boat-lined harbour. The town has plenty of bars and restaurants, sitting side-by-side with historic ruins. Beneath the cobbled streets, there's an underground bar where you can sip cocktails in a cave room amid stalagmites and stalactites. If you like shopping, you can browse local shops for souvenirs such as handcrafted ceramics, jewellery and coloured glass.

Just returned from this hotel 3 weeks ago, the hotel is lovely, bedding changed every day, nice and clean. Negatives about the hotel, in the week I was there 3 people spoke to me, Hassan in the bar, and lady that welcomed you for your food. All the other staff were not very welcoming. Never again

Nice hotel location was ok really close to the beach ten minutes walk,, a bit far from the main strip we could walk but had to get a taxi back as it was a bit far for my mum and dad who are 70, a few nice restaurants and shops beside it but as it was near end of September they were all closed which we weren’t told when we booked, not the hotels fault.. nice pool area very friendly bar staff and rooms were spacious, we usually eat out a few times as we get fed up with hotel food but we ate in the hotel restaurant every night as there was plenty of choices for everyone and the food was nice! I had a Turkish bath in the spa which I would definitely recommend!! we enjoyed our stay

We have just returned from a week's holiday at this hotel, the hotel itself was amazing the staff were helpful and polite, the rooms were lovely and fresh towels daily beds were changed twice during our stay, the food was beautiful and alot if choice, the pool is brilliant and also alot of facilities available at the hotel, we had a brilliant time the only downfall is the area we were a little to late in the season and everything was closing, but we made the best of it, the beach is beautiful with clear waters.

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. AirPods were stolen from my room. Air conditioning was broken. Also a very strong smell from plumbing. Food selection for breakfast and dinner was the same every day with little variation.

Don’t normally review hotels but as money get tighter and holidays are a treat there is nothing worse than a bad hotel. So it’s budget but good. Stayed 10days all inclusive. We found the staff friendly particularly the bar staff. the location is great, 5-10walk to the beach. Our family room was clean with daily maid service. The bathroom had an odd drain smell which we reported on 2 occasions on our 10day stay. Hired towel serviced used. We prefer this service which bizarrely isn’t advertised. Old fashioned reception safe with a key, cheap enough. Pool area scruffy, sun beds packed in as usual in school hols. People left towels out overnight to secure a space. I disagreed with this, however on the last few days i decided to disregard my principles and so I left my towel out overnight. If u can’t beat them… join them… Food ok. Nothing fancy, no issues with hygiene. It’s Cheap enough in the resort therefore we ate out afew times. This helped with family variety. Also the dining areas can get abit school canteen like, so it’s nice to sit and choose from a menu. Lunches are much better than evening meals. I would say there was lots of discussions with the different options of this hotel. B&B, half board, all inclusive. It’s tricky to know who can eat where and what bar to use. I personally don’t like the mixture of options in a hotel so pleased we went all inclusive for drinks and lunches. The day pool entertainment was the usual. Friendly lads with theme song and 4-5 activities for kids and adults throughout the day. One pool, which isn’t huge with no life guards. Therefore overall it is what it is. if u don’t pay the Ritz prices, don’t expect it. Kids had a brilliant time. Plenty to do in the area. No upset tummies, no drama and we had a great time in the sun. Sunny beach water park was great. We went during the week. Not busy, quite a revelation not to spends hours on the stairs queuing. Free taxi to and from the hotel.

Rooms not cleaned. Bed changed once in a week but as they were changing beds we went into room to collect our phone and money (50 lev). The money was gone we looked at maid she took it out of her purse and said I thought it was for me. After this didn't feel safe leaving anything of value in room. This was the first time I have been anywhere and this has happened. Staff in dining area good but wouldn't trust room staff thankfully the safes were in lobby

We booked a last minute get away here and just went with the flow. We weren't sure what to expect on reading some of the reviews lol BUT i think people are being abit harsh with some of their reviews. We found the staff lovely! - Don't forget, they're working and at times it is stressful (the same as our jobs) Sometimes we all have bad days. We found as long as we were nice and polite the staff were nice back =) Our room was always nice and clean and the floor was mopped daily but we were fairly clean in our room and not super messy so i can't comment if you were to trail half the beach in with you etc. We had no issues finding sunbeds what so ever. - Yes, the ones right NEXT to the pool would fill up quickly but on a whole there was always more than enough. The food is just what it is! It's local dishes/food and a mix of bits and bobs from UK, Spain, Turkey etc and its buffet style so don't be expecting a red carpet rolled out at dinner time and to be served the finest food in all of Bulgaria. It was MORE then edible and there is alot of choice! - Two restaurants also!! One with the 360 BEAUTIFUL view an then one on the ground floor. They have 5 lifts! FIVE. Yes, some are small (the side ones) however it is honestly maybe 20 steps to the big lift which is more than large enough for 8 people. The location is absolutely amazing! Honestly, there is everything you could want from shops, bars, ice cream stands, amazing/vast entertainment and yummy food. A massive plus is- The pure white sand beach is a 5 min walk We loved the entertainment at the hotel! Not too much but just enough. We joined in the dancing and played water polo then hit the pool bar for some drinks. They play music through the day at the pool and we didn't have to wait long for drinks. The cocktails and drinks are fine for what they are! Again, they aren't uptown London cocktails at £30 a go. It's a local Vodka etc etc - Melon ball is amazing!!! We will be back in 2024!! <3

My girlfriend and I spent a week at the Smartline Meridian. We did not read the Tripadvisor reviews before we booked. However, we became a little worried after diving into some personal accounts here. That being said, we had a great time at the hotel. Food and drink The food was varied and mostly good/great quality. All-inclusive food is never going to win a Michelin star, but we found there was plenty to eat at each meal. We are vegetarian and never went hungry. However, it would have been nice to have a veggie main every day alongside all the sides and chips. We still had plenty of choice though. The views from the top floor restaurant are fantastic, stretching out over the Black Sea and Sunny Beach. The drinks were fine. Beer did the trick and the bar staff were happy to go off-piste with the cocktails if you had a special request. Plenty of soft drinks were available from 10:30 and ice cream in the downstairs restaurant, which was really nice as well. Staff Some people had commented that the staff were rude to them. However, we didn't have any issues with staff, from the reception to the bar staff, everybody was accommodating and willing to chat. Sure, they weren't over-the-top friendly, but they weren't fake either. The fella with the tattoos in the ground floor restaurants was always up for a conversation about cartoons and tats. He also makes a boss pina colada. Unfortunately, I forgot to get his name! Cleaners provided fresh towels and toilet rolls every day. We did not have our room cleaned while we were there, but we chose to keep the 'do not disturb' sign on the door for the duration of our stay. Some people complained that things went missing from their room. We did not have anything stolen but we did keep all our items locked away in our suitcase with a padlock on the zips. Everybody should be doing this anyway. You always run the risk of being robbed, either at home or abroad, especially when people you don't know come into your room. Safety deposit boxes are available for a small fee. Pool Here's a bit of friendly advice for people going to a hotel with a pool: stop leaving your stupid towels on the sunloungers overnight. It's rude and makes you look selfish. The hotel has a sign asking for people not to do this, but nobody enforces the rule. The pool area can get quite congested but the beds are nowhere near as close together as some reviewers would lead you to believe. We were never touching other people and found we had enough space to enjoy ourselves with feeling closed in. The pool bar was a great touch. And while the pool was a bit on the small side, we never felt like there were too many people in the water at any one time. Entertainment This was the only downside for me. While the lads who did the entertainment and activities seemed friendly, there was a lack of diversity among the fun and games. Darts every day got really boring. Also, the evening entertainment was almost non-existent. Karaoke most nights with zero structure or effort to get others involved. I think more people would have got involved if they'd come around with a clipboard and noted down their songs, or generally just worked the room with some MC skills. I've been to several all-inclusive hotels in Bulgaria and further afield, where the evening entertainment team put in a lot more effort and made the night feel more than just 'sitting in a room with the big light on and an empty buffet bar in the middle', which was, unfortunately, the case here. The Michael Jackson tribute was good though! Also, unless you like modern dance music, you're not going to like the blaring tunes in the ground floor restaurant during the evening. However, despite the entertainment not being the best, we definitely got our money's worth with the drinks and food. In addition, the Malibu Hotel Garden next door had some entertaining tributes every night and a good house band, we ended up there a few times and always had a laugh. The Elvis tribute was great! Final Thoughts Overall, we had a great time at the Meridian. We would have liked more to do in the local area, but we came home feeling like we got good value for money and were very well-rested. Just make sure you take precautions with your valuables and you should be fine!
