Hotel was relatively clean and rooms were nice and clean also. My cleaner came in everyday and was extremely pleasant. He was one of the happiest members of staff there. I was surprised to have a room suited for my children's ages (other than being top floor) they provided the room with a baby bath and a potty which came in very useful.
I wasn't overly happy about being put in the top floor with a 3 year old so I asked to be moved to a lower ground floor which they did offer to do after 3 days but felt this was pointless as it was halfway through our holiday and we had already unpacked so did decline the offer and just kept little one off the balcony.
Entertainment in the day was fun, the team work extremely hard, long hours and seemed to be 7 days a week. We only stayed 2 times for evening entertainment which was good for the kids.
Alot of the staff look like they don't want to be there, very miserable and rude but after exploring the area, I think this is a Bulgarian thing because I've never been to a country with such rude people. Be mindful of the shops, the supermarket over the road tried to say we had paid for something with 50 lev when infact we paid with 100 lev so they had to check the tills which proved us right. No apology after waiting half hour, just dirty looks.
Location is poor, its situated in what seems to be an industrial estate and a good 20 mins walk to sunny beach. If your in a wheelchair or using pushchair then it's very hard to go anywhere. The roads and pavements are awful. Taxi people rip you off, you should not pay more than 15 lev to get to or from sunny beach.
Food was mediocre, some nice choices but feel like they need a few more choices.
Restaurant was kept clean and cleaners are always working hard. There are flies around but not alot you can do about that.
Waterpark was amazing and so are the pool areas. There's a very miserable female lifeguard who kept blowing her whistle at people jumping in the pool. She was a pain! Constantly blowing it whilst your trying to relax. Kids jump in pools and splash each other! She needs to lighten up, no other lifeguard was bothered.
I'd come back to this hotel again but only if it was in another country. Hotel was OK, bulgaria is just not for us. English people don't seem to ne welcomed by Bulgarian people at all.
Stayed as a party of 9 for 10 nights the hotel is average for the price the food is the generic stuff you get at an all inclusive if your a lover of fish or vegetables your going to love it. the drinks were ok better than most hotels and the local beer is amazing the room was clean and tidy but the one thing that would put me off staying here again is the cleaning staff our cleaner was SHAKI on the first day she made a point of telling us her name 3 times before we got in the room and the next day we were just getting ready to leave the room and she came in when we said give us 5 minutes she tutted and then said hurry hurry the next day after she decided to come in as the front door was open and go straight into the bathroom where my wife was on the toilet each day she would leave her tip envelopes on the desk and we decided that on the last day we were going to leave a large tip but after the third day when she posted her envelopes over the room to make a point we decided we weren't going to tip as she seemed rude and for the rest of our time we put the do not disturb sign on as we did not want her entering or cleaning the room. the cleaning staff around the hotel and in the restaraunt were always brushing up under your feet when you were trying to eat and always came over and leaned over to get dirty plates whilst you were still eating plus mopping up right where you were walking as you were carrying food walking back to the table plus on a few occasions the cleaners would be mopping the steps where kids were playing and leaving it very slippery and kids would fall and adults would slip right outside the entrance the free bus drivers were very rude and would often shout and just seemed disinterested. could do with a night bus thst ran til about 10pm. The pools were always clean, and there was never a shortage of sunbeds. ALI BABA, as he likes to be called from the spa, is very friendly and will give you a good deal. Do not watch football in the sports bar it's streamed, and the reception is terrible. Always buffering, you're better going down the town to watch a match. overall. The hotel isn't bad. The barmen and animation team were amazing, but the cleaners really need some etiquette training, and the security could do with putting a smile on their face. In hindsight I would not return to this hotel in the future the location is too far from the town for people with walking problems or kids and and the staff except bar staff and animation team were very rude.
Entertainment staff 10/10
Always going that step further for the kids and big kids throughout the day. Always had energy and time for any queries.
Bar staff 10/10
Very efficient service, with great knowledge of cocktails etc
Restaurant 2/10
Staff in here very miserable and the food being very bland and lacked imagination. Kids section also very poor
Swimming facilities 10/10
Swimming pool was always full due to the facility of the pool bar and shop. As well as being very clean the entertainment team had a lot for all ages throughout the day in the pool area
Water park 5/10
Very good when open as a lot of days it was shut, staff were very arrogant when my son lost his wristband in the pool and they wouldnt let him retrieve it but then charged us 10 lev for the missing wristband. Scamming policy but couldn’t prove it anywhere
Cleanliness 10/10
Can’t fault the hotel on cleanliness all over especially the cleaners who were on hand everyday to make our room spotless! bedding made and fresh towels everyday and bins etc and always done with a smile
Overall very disappointed with food and certain member of hotel staff. Wouldn’t stay here again as we feel there’s a lot better place to visit.
The food is more than decent, a nice variety for grownups and the children alike and the quality is not bad for an all inclusive hotel.
The animation team hosts games and activities throughout all the day and evening, there's always something to do for the kids and the grownups, my 5yo daughter really enjoyed the evening disco for kids, and i enjoyed the ping pong and darts tourneys.
The waterpark is superb, has enough to do to spend a whole day there and enjoy.
The rooms are quite big and nice.
The drinks bar is nice and has a decent variety, from local alchohol but it's fine.
The staff are friendly and welcoming.
A couple of minuses:
1. When we came to the room the toilet was dirty (pee on the sit), but as soon as we called housekeeping it was cleaned in a few minutes.
2. The floor in the dining room was always sticky for some reason, although there are always cleaning personnel going around.
3. It's something that most will consider a small detail but it really bothered us: In the dining room the are no napkins on the tables, you need to go to specific spots to take napkins, which is quite annoying.
4. The door locking mechanism isn't the best, it's a key card lock, and you need to put the card into a socket in the room so that the electricity will work, when the card is in the socket you can't use the other card from the outside to open the door, which means that if someone is asleep he'll need to get up to open the room and there is no way to open it from outside.
The staff in the restaurant are very friendly and helpful, we ate out of the hotel 2 nights and found the food in the hotel was actually nicer than the strip, plenty of options, especially if you are going expecting the standard you get for all inclusive and not expecting 5* food. The chef's and caterers work very hard to make beautiful food.
The water sadly was too cold to go into so we didn't get to use the pool or waterpark most of the week.
We found alot more was tolerated than we would have hoped for regarding rowdy drinking families. This is a family hotel and the noise, the rowdy guests and the late people were allowed to run the hotel floors was awful.
Sunny beach in general is not a place I would return. Very run down, awfully rude people, expensive concidering everything is fake and outdated. We paid 33 lev for a packet of nappies which is roughly 16 pound. I have never been somewhere where the people treated us with such rudeness, from the men in the strip to the other guests in the hotel. But again this is nothing to do with hotel.
I would highly recommend going to the hotel if you plan to stay in the hotel for the week, not leave the resort and are prepared for large drinking families. The staff are amazing, the food is brilliant and the water Park is a blessing.
The staff were very friendly and helpful with everything we needed. Also, if you have kids, they will be in good hands with Antonio, one of the entertainers. There were lots of activities, games, both for kids and for adults at the pool and at the stage.
Food was good, but that is subjective to everyone's taste. Only flaw we could find is with breakfast, which after a couple of days got monotonous. During our 7 day stay, breakfast was almost the same everyday.
Oh, almost forgot about the coffee. It was bad, to put it lightly. If you get this bad feedback from everyone about the coffee, please do something about it.
Lunch and dinner, on the other hand, were quite varied, with at least one dish being different from one day to another. We didn't get to try the snacks by the pool, so we can't comment on that.
Some might say that the distance to the beach is a minus. For us, it was a nice, relaxing walk and depending on the route, it took 20-30 minutes at slow pace. But if you don't like walking, you have a free bus from the hotel to the center of Sunny Beach and from there to the beach is a 5 minute walk.
The hotel has a big parking outside. You can acces it using your room key card.
Aqua Park It's nice to have a backup, in case the sea is dirty or the weather is bad. But what we thought was a backup, turned out to be the first choice during our stay. We only went to the beach 4 days out of 7. In other words, the aqua park was awesome.
We didn't like a couple of things at the Aqua Park: People were taking the rings to the sunbeds and if you wanted to take a ride with a ring, you had to spend a couple of minutes looking for one. There was an announcement on the speakers saying that it was forbidden to "rent" the rings but people didn't listen. One solution is for staff to walk around and tell people to put the rings back.
Another problem was with the pavement around the pool and slides. During sunny days, around noon, it would turn into lava. It got so hot, it hurt walking around barefoot. If nothing changes, next time we'll bring swimming shoes. Be careful, you're not allowed on the slides with flip flops, but I saw that special swimming shoes are allowed.
The waterpark is an absolutely amazing addition to the hotel, the kids had an absolute ball, so much to do and loads of places to sit.
Food was good
Rooms were good
Only downfalls were the lifts breaking down and constantly busy, not enough indoor space when the weather was bad and the security guards being a bit petty.
The entertainment staff were fantastic
All in all we had a fantastic holiday and would recommend to others.
Hotel is clean, rooms are spacious.
Animation team work hard with various things going on through the day.
Restaurant staff do not say much, various different foods to choose from, although did find raw chicken, but staff immediately removed the whole tray and appeared concerned that is had happened.
Aqua park included in price, bands given on checking in and you are expected to wear the bands all the time you are in the park, but be aware they do fall off, so easily lost and you are charged for lost bands. Food in the park is not all inclusive but food reasonably priced.
Used the spa and was very impressed, worth the money paid.
Evening entertainment much the same as other holiday complexes, grandchildren loved the nightly disco.
Nikki kept our room clean during our stay.
Not much to do around Sunny beech for families with young children, but if kids like the water the aqua park of hotel pools will fill your days.
The rooms were clean and spacious and always cleaned, only down side was the views from double rooms weren't great so it wasn't enjoyable to sit out on balcony it's not a big deal though.
The watermark was great always clean plenty of sunbeds everyday and we made good use of the watermark. We didn't use the hotel pool much as it was quite cold .
The only downsides for me were fellow guests I found there was a atmosphere after a certain time and some guests were very noisy and didn't really care for other guests or workers. . I feel like in other hotels I've stayed in this wouldn't be tolerated I suppose staying in larger resorts more likely chance you will have noisy fellow guests.
The food was okay but found it basically same every day but with different sauces. Being vegetarian the options were okay but some days there wasn't a vegetarian option but we made do but il be honest by last day I wasn't fussed on eating the food .
In general I probably won't return as I wasn't a fan of sunny Beach itself .I found it quite run down not the hotels fault also resorts aren't really my thing I prefer smaller resorts . If you've kids they will love it but for me it just wasn't for me and didn't come home relaxed . It was still a great holiday for my daughter. If you like big resorts its grand and good value
