Detailed Reviews
I have recently stayed at Poseidon Apts in Sunny Beach.
This complex has lots going for it. On site: 24hr Medics, Pharmacy Supermarket, Bar, Good Restaurant and Pool Bar.
The apartments are very roomy and well appointed with large bathroom.
However a few things let the complex down. Housekeeping is very haphazard, we had to ask for the sheets to be changed, and sometimes towels would appear, sometimes not. Also the sheets were too small for the beds.
Pool area was clean and pool well kept but few sun parasols which were not broken, many of the sunbeds were broken too. These items need to be replaced. There were also broken tiles around the pool, dangerous if you fell.( See pix) All these things are fairly easy to remedy and then Poseidon would be a great place. Oh. And please stop charging for Wi-Fi. It’s free next door and at Marvel across the road.

This was our second time in Sunny Beach having previously stayed at Cacao beach end. This hotel is situated in the south of sunny beach towards St Vlas.
The Hotel: first impression was the hotel was clean and well maintained, we arrived early morning at around 3am. The receptionists weren't very welcoming albeit they were not rude. We were given our room card and offered to be taken to our room however we said we would be fine.
The room was spacious clean and tidy very impressed really for a budget hotel. The bathroom was very nice with a bath which is novel for abroad with a combine shower. Towels and toilet rolls were provided along with small bottle of shower gel and soap.
The bedroom again a good size with 2 single beds pushed together, these were quite hard which was great for me but the wife found it not too comfy. The bedsheets only fit on top of the bed which seems accustom for Bulgaria and constantly rode off the bed especially for rough sleepers.
The sofa bed in the living area was very uncomfortable for my kids who were 16 and 15. We asked reception if there is anything they could do, the response was a little flippant saying they don't think so but they will check. To be fair to them with in 1 hour they went to the room and fitted a memory foam mattress and remade the bed so fair play the impression they gave of not being bothered was not true. Everything we asked for during the holiday they met so a great plus.
Facilities:
Wifi: it is 6 lev for 1 hour, we never used it but was told it was not very good.
The pool: was a nice size cold when you first jumped in but you soon warmed up. It was clean although the grills around the sides kept snapping and did present a risk. The hotel did replace broken ones but several people had them break under their weight. There is a smaller kids pool to the side of the main pool.
Sunbeds: our only gripe is there was not enough sunbeds for the guests. Most guests reserved their beds for the full holiday by keeping their towels/lilo's on them and the hotel did not bother about this. It was really annoying seeing guests turn up a 4/5pm having reserved theirs all day.
Pool table: There were 2 pool table one inside and 1 near the bar, these were 6 lev for 30 mins or 10 lev for 1 hour.
The bar: This served drinks all day until the early hours reasonably priced and cocktails were 2 for 1 a mojito (for 2) 8.5 levs (£3.65) and this was same for all cocktails. A spirit and mixer was included in the 2 for 1 so cant argue. 1 pint of coke was 3 lev, fresh orange 3 lev. The bar was run by members of the Dream Team Bisser & Tisho who were absolutely fantastic, they were friendly, funny and took the time to have a conversation with you. Top marks for these 2
The restaurant: this served a variety of meals suitable for various times of the day. We ate most breakfast/lunch here and the food was really good and superbly priced. A cooked breakfast was 8.5 lev (£3.65) we had a few evening meals there as well and always had great food. The enchilada grande is a must for a hungry person. Again the restaurant is run by members of the Dream Team and I want to let you know what delightful member of staff they are. Lucy is lovely and has a smile on her face all day, Nadine who at first was a little shy was brilliant a little sweety who took the time to talk about some of the history of Bulgaria. Rossy who was always keen to help. and the last member was John he was a little quiet but always provided good service. All the Dream Team are managed by Julie who was great always had a beaming smile on her face with a bubbly personality and every time you saw her she would ask how are you doing her whole team were great. At this point I would like to say the restaurant & bar are run separately to the hotel (we only found out on the last day) I say this as the hotel staff could certainly learn a lot off Julie's team.
Overall I would recommend this hotel to family's it was a pleasant stay with no issues. it is situated at a quiet end of sunny beach. The beach is about 10 minute walk, flower street is about a 30 minute walk or a 10 minute bus journey.
Sunny Beach itself:
This caters for everyone all ages, all sexes. The food is great and the beer is cheap. Some of the restaurants I would recommend: Hawaii, Djannys, Posiedon hotel. Steak house across from Posiedon, Friends and the restaurant at Favorit hotel (Cacao beach)
Khans Tent: this is an absolute must for anyone going to Sunny Beach, it offers a good 4 course meal and great entertainment.

Actually in resort now so thought I'd do a quick review before I forgot everything. We normally go to 4* all inclusives but as money was a bit short this year, we booked this as it was so cheap and just wanted a bit of sun. This is a 3* accomodation so expect clean basic hotel in a good location. You cannot expect anything more for the money and it is fine for a value for money getaway. Apartments are quite spacious, with sofabed and dining table and chairs in living area. Kitchen area has fridge with very small ice box, 2 electric hob plates, kettle, toaster, coffee maker and microwave. There are plates, mugs, cutlery, 1 saucepan, 1 frying pan and 1 sharp knife. All rooms have a balcony and air conditioning but this is only in the living area so bedroom can get a bit warm. We are a family of 2 adults, 2 children aged 10 and 3 and I would say that the sofabed was ok for them but older kids/ teenagers might struggle, as quite a thin mattress on it. Large marble bathroom and as in previous reviews the water does go everywhere when you have a shower as there is no shower curtain, however there is a drainage hole in the bathroom so I think this is just how it was designed. There is a shop and restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel both of which are reasonably priced. There are 2 pools one being a shallow children's pool, which is great for little ones. We never had a problem with getting a sunbed even though we didn't come down until after 9am most days. There are no cushions on the sunbeds so if you're able to pack an extra towel in your luggage for comfort, do so. Items worth bringing out with you are tea, coffee and breakfast cereal, as these were quite expensive in the local supermarket ( which is a 2 minute walk away). Overall this hotel is pretty much what I expected and if you want 4* you will have to pay a fair bit more for it. Reading the reviews it seems to me that a lot of the reviewers have champagne tastes but lemonade money. You'll have a great time in Sunny Beach and if you haven't been before ( as we hadn't) you can check some of the other hotels out for next time :-)

This hotel is actually vile, staff don’t understand english and are extremely rude, no milk with cereal and no toaster, scrambled eggs r vile, no food choice whatsoever, hot drinks in plastic cups, pool wasn’t cleaned for the 2 weeks we was here, kids running around unattended & shove past you & run around the hotel pressing all the elevator buttons, no kettle in the room, wifi doesn’t work, no entertainment, balkan airlines not interested whatsoever just love to waffle on about irrelevant stuff, barely any loungers & life guard is extremely rude, no food around the pool even though i have a medical card because of being diabetic, changed my teen wrist band (im a 14yr old girl) to an adult wrist band meaning i’m then able to be served alcohol. Only good thing is the man on reception spoke good english and was friendly. Our flight was delayed meaning we didn’t get to the hotel till 9pm bulgarian time & all they said about food was we could have what’s left. Definitely isn’t a 4 star hotel you’d be lucky if i even gave it a 1 star.

6 of us stayed here for 2 weeks, we were a late check in but this was not a problem for the staff at the poseidon. The Hotel is situated in the "posher/quieter" end of Sunny Beach. The hotel itself is surrounded by beautiful hotels which is ideal for those who do not wish to be right on the door step of the party scene. Staff were helpful and polite. rooms were basic but clean and spacious, cleaned almost every day. The Dream Team were the friendliest and most professional people I've ever met, Ivo, Biser, Val, Merry, Alice and most of all Julie made us feel so at home and went above and beyond to make sure you had a great experience at the poseidon. Never a dull atmosphere here during our stay, music at the pool bar, daily interactions with staff & other guests etc.
For sure a little spin from Flower Street (maybe 3/4 mins in a taxi) you can get the tram trains for 3lev per person (stops outside the marvel & salt n pepper restaurant) which travels up along the strip and stops right on flower street if you want to avoid paying for taxi's. But the stroll is a nice one and not as far away as has been made out. If you decide to get a taxi agree on a price before you get into the taxi to avoid any conflict. Food wise I'd have to say La Bamba & Mamacitas are a must, you might have a longer wait in La Bambas than in Mamacitas but the food is up to scratch.
We also went to Nessebar Waterpark during our stay which is well worth a visit, although you can expect long waits during high season which is to be expected, but a nice day out.
We fell in love with Sunny beach and if we were to return in the morning we would choose the Poseidon again.
**Just a little note as we were seen to be a "young" group (3 couples, aged 22) we were asked for a deposit of 100lev per room which we received back after final inspection when we checked out, so just budget for that if you are a young group or couple travelling :)
Also I would advise on first arrival into your room if you deem any appliances or anything with in your room to be missing or broken I suggest you inform staff as soon as you can as you may be charged if they believe the appliances were in working order or present before your stay.
There's the option of late check out also for a small fee but this was no problem with staff as we booked the morning of our departure, normal check out is 12PM but until 2PM - 25lev until 7PM - 50lev

The hotel was nice, no problems there. However, the people in resort are constantly trying to rip you off. To the point where one of our group was mugged amd made to pay to be released from a toilet!!!!! We spoke to lots of people this had happened to and they all said the same, demands for 60 LEV (their currency). This seems to be the limit before police will get involved. Nightclub entry is expensive and they too try and short change EVERY time. Don't go there, they dont deserve tourists. You should warn anybody who is due to go, it is not safe!!!!!!!!

What an absolutely fabulous holiday...Well furnished apartment, really clean and brilliant staff!
Kelly the entertainer kept the children happy throughout our stay and provided entertainment a few times...great fun! Couldnt do enough to help...They also have sky sports so didnt miss out on any football.Staff very helpful and polite especially Julie and Chris the waiters- didnt once see them not smiling!
Food in the restaurant was brilliant...English breakfast is so cheap and really nice! Drinks at the bar really cheap too...around 6 leva for 2 vodkas and Ivo the barman is a real laugh.
Pool is amazing...really clean and deep!
Only rained one day so had great weather too!
All in all a wonderful holiday, can't wait to go back to Bulgaria!

Arrived around dinner time on Monday 28th May 2018 went to reception i gave the receptionist who was pleasant and cheerful our booking info and passports was given a key card to room 218 on the 2nd floor. Our room was large with a bed settee and double bedroom Bathroom with corner bath and overhead shower and hairdryer. We had a small kitchen with kettle fridge plates, bowls knife forks spoons only 2 pans a 2 ring hot plate cups enough for your basic self-catering for four people. We had a large pool and a good sized paddling pool for children. Bar near the pool they also have a restaurant food was lovely and not expensive the waitress Julie was lovely very friendly and spoken really good English nothing was too much for her. food is served from 8 am to 11 pm. They have a 24hr shop which has most things you need. Cleaners came in everyday bedding was changed on the 3rd day clean towels every day. There was 3 of us in our room balcony was big with table and 4 chairs Beds was comfy. We had a lovely holiday at the Poseidon and will go back again.A lovely hotel would recommend.

Been to sunny beach 5 times now.. by far the Poseidon is the best place I've stayed. Great location, rooms and amenities and friendly staff. Especially Julie, Nadine and the rest of the dream team.. the only complaint is that i couldn't stay longer! Couldn't recommend it any higher!!

Stayed there with five friends last week. We're all in the early 20's age group so when they seen us coming they thought they would bleed us dry for money. Firstly, the staff in the pool bar(especially Julie) and the restaraunt are brilliant and friendly but the good points end there. When staying in a three person room one person will have to sleep on a fold out couch which has a wafer thin matress that is completely bent out of shape. My back is still sore from it, sleeping on the floor would have been more comfortable. The first morning we were there the cleaners came in around 10 a.m while we were still in bed and started asking for tips before she started cleaning. We noticed a lot of small things going missing during the week also. Onto the fines, this hotel will attempt to rob you of your money. A group of guys stayed there the same time as us and one of them was charged 100 lev for making a five minute phone call from his hotel room. The sun loungers are in bad shape and cracked all over. One lad sat on one of the cracked ones and it broke, resulting in a 300 lev fine! If you break a normal glass for drinking water out of in your room that's a 100 lev fine. When the group of lads refused to pay the obscene fines they were told that they wouldn't be leaving the country as the reception staff had their passports. They had to pay it in the end. The charges for wifi are ridiculous, we were made check out ten hours before our flight and the reception staff in general are both rude and uninterested. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to couples, families or groups of friends. Always felt on edge there and it was not a pleasant stay. Stay away at all costs
