Great hotel nice decorated in lobby and food hall. Good food all week they had a lot to choose from. Only down side other english guests. A group moaning about food they where just after money back. Stay at this hotel its worth it. A nice place to visit
We were in a Calypso hotel for the first time. I thought it was a terrible hotel, but when we arrived I realized that this is my dream place for rest and relaxation. Thanks to the whole team - manager restaurant Maria , Reception, Housekeeping, for serving the guests excellently every day. The food is delicious and varied, I highly recommend this place! Thanks to Hotel Calypso
Good clean hotel and pool area, food was really good and staff helpful when needed. The location may not be the best but fine if you dont mind a walk. Enjoyed our stay so have already booked to return in 2020.
Room was clean and hotel. Just got back from here last night after 1 week. Didn't get to hotel on first night till about 10pm along with our family of 8. First of all the staff are rude , the bar staff never smile and the life guardvjust sits on his phone. Food is cold and with us taking our 14 years old son not much choice of food for him to eat.. we was told there was entertainment but nothing was on. Not much near by for you to do. We went all inclusive to this hotel and in the week we was there we didn't eat in the hotel as the food was poor , cold and not much choice
Hotel is very clean and staff are lovely. Unfortunately that is all,... there is no evening entertainment, no lounge area, only 1 small pool, 1 small eating area that can't accommodate all residents. It is definitely not for children as there are no facilities. Shame.
Visited here worst hotel we have been to, staff miserable didnt speak hot food came out cold swimming pool freezing cold standard of room disgusting. Went all inclusive wouldnt reccomend ate out every night due to poor food
Stayed at Hotel calypso in sunny beach and for the first time went all inclusive. The reviews for food and hotel were very mixed so decided to comment myself. The girl on arrival was polite and cheerful, our room was lovely and clean and comfy bed too! The food was a little different, but it was beautiful and you could go back as many times as you wanted! Beer was okay but seemed very light in volume..... get a can from the nearby shop and you could taste the difference! Most of the staff are friendly, but you still got a few but are miserable and don’t talk especially the room service girls! The highlight of the holiday was without doubt the entertainment staff especially Peter..... this guy went out of his way to make sure you was enjoying yourself. From aerobics at the pool to evening quiz’s and participating games. Thank you Peter!! Clean hotel, clean pool and lovely grub!!…
We went as a family + really enjoyed our stay . The staff were friendly and helpful +worked very hard .Peter from the animation team was especially good he managed to keep the guests amused + on the go with lots of games +activities, his method of hosting a bingo game was crazy I think he should get a new bingo machine.I think that the staff probably responded to certain guests in an unfriendly manner because those guests had been rude + demanding . The room was lovely, the beds were comfortable the shower was great + the cleaners came every day + were excellent. We were a bit far away from the centre , but there were plenty of good bars, restaurants + shops nearby + the beach was only a short walk away . The food was good there was always something to suit our taste. The snack bar was a lifesaver for one of our grandkids because being a fussy eater he could always get chips + stuff to keep him happy . The pool was great + well maintained. The outside eating area was a nice refuge from the sun because it was shaded + cool. The only downside was the WiFi which was very erratic . On the whole the hotel was excellent value considering its 3 star rating + we were very happy with our holiday .…
Our group involved 3 families and stayed at the Calypso first week of August. We read some mixed reviews but having now experienced it for myself, trust me when I say for those posting negative comments about the food I really dont know where you expect to find fresher, great selection and plenty for everyone at the price you paid to stay here. We (age ranges between 11 to 55) absolutely loved it .. the scales suggest a little too much in fact. Hotel pool bar served a nice cold pint of beer and house spirits, none of this silly cheap half pint plastic cups and 1 per person. Snack bar did the job and ice cream available all day. Rooms spacious and cleaned daily. Pool provided fun relaxed atmosphere and the animation did their best to entertain. It cos £1300 for 3 of us for one week all inclusive in August, amazing value for money and will definitely be back.…
Stayed at the hotel calypso from 12th August to the 26th August with my husband my mum and dad (both in there 70's) and my 13 year old son. This was our 9th time in Bulgaria and always liked the hotels we stayed in but this is definitely the worst one ever. Good points: The hotel is clean and modern. The pool is nice and the same depth all the way round. Cleaned daily. Big pool. The rooms are spacious. The beds are comfortable. Rooms are a bit out dated and could do with modernising. Only two plug sockets in the rooms. The bathrooms are nice. The showers is one of the best ones I've ever had. Fresh towels daily. Beds made daily. Ice cream served from 10am till 11pm. Chips, pizza, burgers, chicken nuggets etc served from 3pm till 5pm by the pool daily. Self service drinks open 24 hours in the reception area. Breakfasts are the best meals of the day. Fried eggs, scrambled eggs, beans etc. Peter the animation guy worked the hardest out of all the staff. He was the only animation guy and tried his hardest to get everyone involved. Bad points: Hotel staff not friendly. Never spoke to the guests. Never smiled. You were made to feel unwelcome. The hotel manager never spoke to her guests and never smiled. She always looked as though she never wanted to be there. The food was disgusting. For 2 weeks all we had was salads. We tried all the food but most of it was inedible. My son, dad and mum got food poisoning and my husband got the diarrhoea. Flys was all over the food. The hotel mainly caters for the Europeans and not the British. The bread was green mouldy. The chicken was undercooked. The food was repetitive. We had to eat out a few times to get some decent food. The wifi you had to pay 6 lev a day or 30 lev a week. Could only get wifi in the reception areas. Not able to get it in your room or by the pool. Even when sat in the reception it kept disconnecting. The sunbeds were uncomfortable. Had no problems getting a bed though. No tables in the dining room for a larger family. Had to keep putting 2 tables together so we could all sit together as a family at meal times. The drinks machine in the dining room was always breaking down. Sometimes the juices were mainly water and tasted awful. I asked 3 times if we could extend our hotel room as we had a late pick up (11pm) and was told on 2 occasions that I couldn't has the hotel was fully booked. On the 3rd occasion the manager said I could have it for an extra 2 hours at 10 lev an hour. Said it was not long enough so we did not extend our room. In checking out on our last day a European lady was able to extend her room for an extra 4 hours. Dont think this hotel like the English at all. My mum and dad had £500 stolen from there room. Both of them was in the apartment at the time sat on the balcony while the cleaner was cleaning the room. My dad left his money belt on the side with his English money inside. He noticed that the money had gone missing after the cleaner had left the room (the money was in the money belt that morning), he only took it off because he was vomiting due to food poisoning. They went to the reception to report the matter and spoke to the manager. She was unhelpful and stated that the cleaner had been at the hotel for many seasons had was trustworthy. My parents asked for the cleaner to be searched and it was refused. The manager stated that she had called the police and they had said that they had to go to the police station. When they got to the police station it was not logged that the hotel had rung them. The hotel is a good half hour walk to the main resort of sunny beach. Due to us not been able to extend our room I asked if they had a facility were we could book a room for a shower. They have no facilities at all. I was told I had to shower in the pool shower. On looking at the shower i was appalled. The shower was were the toilet was and had no door or curtain. I was told that someone had to stand outside the main door while I showered. I will definitely not return to this hotel …
