The Tia Maria Hotel is situated in the southern part of the Sunny Beach Resort, 250 metres from the beach and a 5-minute walk from the centre. It offers spacious and comfortable rooms at very competitive rates, ideally suited for families with children or young couples. The modern property is within easy reach of both the beach and resort centre. Venture out and have fun at the many discos, bars and pubs in the vicinity. For your convenience, a big supermarket is also nearby. The hotel also houses an a la carte restaurant serving international cuisine. If you do not want to go to the beach one day, the hotel's swimming pool is an inviting place to relax under the warm sun and plunge into the cool water for refreshment. Beach chairs and umbrellas are included in the room price.
Arrived for our family holiday (husband and two teenagers). First concern was reviews between site we booked on (Booking.com) differed greatly to trip advisor which stupidly looked at after we booked and paid! Ok we took it on the chin and decided to go with an open mind...it can’t be that bad we hoped! Upon arrival at reception we were ‘greeted’ with a wait over there you can’t check in for 30 mins...ok I’m a big girl but hey a little ‘welcome or hello would be good as a greeting to new arrivals, so we found a seat in the very busy reception area we assumed with other people awaiting check in. The speakers in reception and pool area had music blasting out...great if you have an inkling if a beat but sounded like a poor version of Eurovision song entries! We waited with baited breath at the delights to come...well they didn’t disappoint! We booked and paid for two rooms hmm let’s ignore their booking and put them all together in a family room, same girl who ‘greeted us’ (or not as the case was) showed us the room when we complained. We didn’t relish the thought of sharing with a 15 & 17 year old on different time zones hence booking two separate rooms! We were informed the air conditioner was broken in the 2nd room and to come to reception the following morning..we did and was advised room still not sorted to try later on. We arrived back at reception later that day to be told nope still broken to come back tomorrow! We requested speaking with a manager and after some time another girl appeared who informed us she was reception manager (funny as we asked her earlier and she didn’t say it was her). She informed me our room was one of the ‘larger family rooms and had been refurbished, no way, it was very dated, furniture was in good condition but bathroom was grotty!i said we would take the room without air con... nope can’t have it we were told as hadn’t been cleaned, come back tomorrow! Once again we attended at reception to be told there was a problem with the room! I said I didn’t believe they had ever kept a 2nd room and they admitted they didn’t have another room for us which we booked and paid for! We again asked for the manager and a different person greeted us! They realised they hadn’t got my husband to sign paperwork when we checked in and asked him to sign... er no don’t think so as it says we had two rooms! On a positive note the cleaner for our room was lovely and gave us fresh towels each day and cleaned the room. The rest of the staff were inexperienced and unprofessional. Our breakfast was included but it wasn’t great and very rushed, so we only used it twice. Defiantly would not recommend this hotel, doesn’t take customer service serious, most staff were rude! Does not deserve a three star rating at all, chairs were stained in dining room, view from room was a car park!
Unfortunately we didn't have such a good experience as we would expect from a bulgarian hotel with all inclusive.
I see here a lot of good reviews about the meals and perhaps it's a matter of tastes because we didn't like the food.. which is diversified but not enough for all guests. If you don't go in the dinning area from the beginning there are chances not to find anything to eat.
The staff is friendly and helpful, except the chambermaids who are making a lot of noise in the early morning by speaking loud to each other, almost screaming and hitting their stuffs to the doors and walls. It' s true that they clean the room every day.
As for the room, we got a ridiculously big room with 2 double beds and 1 for extra person (btw we were two).
I also mention that we booked a room at TM Delouxe Hotel which I guess is a more fancy version of Tia Maria Hotel, but I don't know because we stayed in the main building of Tia Maria. However, this doesn't matter so much because all buildings have the same dinning area, the pool and the bar.
On the whole, the hotel would be a good option for someone who doesn't want to spend too much money and neither too much time at the hotel.
We stayed in this hotel in the noisy resort of Sunny Beach in May and although it may be quiet (being around 20 minutes walk from the lively club and bar strip) for some of the year, we happened to stay during the time when students celebrate their exams finishing or graduation, not sure which but boy oh boy they party loud and late and held major parties in one particular room in this hotel. Lots of rowdy drunken shouting and screaming, on and off till around 2am and no apparent effort from any hotel staff to control of stop the worst of the noise. Hotels and apartment blocks jostle for space here so the outside space for this hotel mainly consists of a swimming pool which looks very clean and well made. There are supermarkets and small shops nearby and you can walk to the main resort drag in about 20 minutes. The touristy island of Nessebar is a couple of miles down the road and you can catch a bus or taxi quite easily to visit this island of sea facing restaurants and a cobbled old town with lots of souvenir and antique shops. We were happy enough with the air conditioned room and small balcony overlooking the pool. Breakfasts were nice, but their attempt at a Mojito cocktail was utterly undrinkable!

After a flight cancellation we were put up at this hotel by TUI, definitely wouldn't choose it. It seems as though they had actually shut for the season and opened it back up just for us 300 odd passengers looking for somewhere to stay. With 1 person on reception it took around 4/5 hours for everyone to be checked in which wasn't a great start. The hotel is very very basic and most of the rooms had problems with the electrics. Our room was one of the better ones I think but still not great. Dirty bedsheets, lumpy pillows with marks on, smears on the walls, a bathroom that smelt like urine and half a roll of toilet paper provided! The air con didn't work either so we had to sleep with the balcony door open all night which was fine as we were on the 6th floor. The barrier on the balcony didn't seem that sturdy either which was a bit alarming being so high up! I don't know if it would be better in high season when it was open properly but there were no pool facilities open, no drinks or food on site and the hotel in general was very run down and a bit of a state. Maybe do the job for a first lads holiday but gave Inbetweeners Movie vibes and wouldn't recommend to anyone.…

After a flight cancellation we were told we would be put up in a hotel for the night. For 1 hotel to take 276 passengers in says alot only 1 member of staff to book us all in which did take approximately 5 hrs 0000 to 0500. Once you had your room it was pot luck if it was clean, had electric, had running water or even toilet rolls which you had to ask for. This hotel should never be used or visited by anybody and the airport shouldn't use it for cancelled flights.

To make it clear we did not choose to stay here. Cutting a long story short our flight was delayed and 400 passengers had to be shipped into this hotel for a night. We were queuing for 3 hours to be checked in as only one person was on the desk and they did not allow our tui reps to help nor did they call any other staff for assistance. The area itself is rough, people were coming out of their apartments and taking photos and videos of us. Lots of strange people walking around at what was between 1 and 3:30am. The hotel itself is giving Carry on Abroad vibes. Upon check in we received a roll of toilet paper as they’d had that many complaints of rooms being without that we had to take one just in case. The ladies who were in front of us were coming straight back down as the sheets in their room had blood on. One family were told that their travel cot was being built. For those who have used such contraptions you’ll know it’s a two second job. When we got to the room we were glad of having a bed. The ‘bed’ is more like a wafer. I would think the floor would be comfier but you would probably walk away with a disease from it. Luckily we had two extra beds in the room that were quite comfy. However only one had sheets on so we had to steal the sheets from the other bed. We had to be quite selective with the sheets are there were also some suspicious stains that could also be found on the towels. The walls are covered with more marks than a squash court and there are lots of hand prints too. The bathroom seems ok. The balcony is strange as you can clearly peer around to your neighbours and I wouldn’t think it be too difficult to actually get onto a neighbouring balcony. Unfortunately the air con was not working either but in fact blowing hot air. We even checked the manual that it was not down to user error but again it just didn’t work. We decided to sit with the door open for a while but due to the balcony design we could not sleep with this open. The view from our room is over looking a grassy wasteland complete with discarded items including a series of bin bags. No review on the food as we’re not going to chance it after seeing other reviews. All in all disgusting! Probably alright if you’re coming for a drunken holiday.…

The hotel is very bad. Starting with cleanliness. The rooms are messy, the sheets are stained, the carpet is full of hair. The shower is poor, everything runs sideways. The worst thing is the non-functioning air conditioner. Physically, it works, but does not ventilate anything. I had to sleep with the door open at a temperature of 30 C. The working staff is uneducated, the working girls are incompetent, there is a strong lack of knowledge on how to serve customers. We had breakfast included. We were only once in them, because the mozzarella cheese was with beetles, and the milk for dry breakfast was sour. Would not recommend to anyone and never!

Very satisfied with the size of the room!but that is about it! We were left with a room with a leaking toilet our whole week!!! You had to have bathingshoes/slippers just to use the bathroom. The breakfast was served in a sweatsmelling basement, and always to crowded to have a chance to sit, we skipped it, and our twingirls had to have chips and bars to breakfast instead. The staff was always looking down just to skip the embarrassment to answer your questions. No clean sheets or towels all week

This is the definition of human abuse. AVOID!!! We arrived at 8 am and waited till 2 pm to check-in (even with all inclusive we were allowed 0) It’s mandatory to pay a deposit of 40 Lv pr. person in CASH and not Mastercard or any other digital payment method. Also just constant harassment by the staff members, even at the reception desk. We were woken up multiple times, just to be asked if we payed the already payed deposit. Not a single sign of friendliness, service. Threatened to call the police on us simply because they still claim that no money was deposited. I think it’s also worth to add that some other tourists arriving at the same time left their baggage in the hotels storage room just to find out one hour later that it’s gone, and the staff start BLAMING them for it?! Also hand over passports carefully, because they refused to return ours even after multiple times of demanding them back. Only good thing about the hotel is that the rooms are decent but cannot be appreciated with the constant harassment. Absolutely ridiculous hotel.…

On the first day we arrived in the evening and were 5 min late for dinner and we stayed without food, though ir was payed for that day. Normal hotels usually serve late dinner for similar situations. They gave us the room without electricity. After 4 hours it was still nor fixed and they even could not offer another room. So the travel start was awful - no phone charge and toilet in the dark. Overall the hotel is noisy, full pf drunk and impolite people. The worst experience ever.
