My wife and I stayed at the Aktinia for seven nights at the end of July. We arrived quite late but thankfully were checked in quickly and efficiently. A sandwich and bottle of cold water had been put to one side for us.
We were given room 414, which was clean and modern, but quite basic. There was no hairdryer, safe or tea and coffee making facilities, although the mini fridge was nice and cold, as was the room air conditioner. The balcony was quite large but unfortunately with no privacy at all, so we had to put pants on or wrap towels around ourselves when we sat outside! There was no table or ashtray on the balcony either, although we managed to find both of those in the cleaner’s store room. There were also no rails for drying beach towels outside. The room was cleaned well, and the maid thoughtfully anticipated when we would be out of the room for breakfast and came accordingly every day without fail.
Wi-Fi coverage is patchy at best throughout the hotel and is virtually unusable.
Back downstairs we found the restaurant rather disappointing, with quite a limited choice on offer for both breakfast and evening meals. What we did eat however we enjoyed and was tasty. As is often the case with hotel buffets the food is not particularly hot, but a quick blast in the microwave soon resolved that. We ate out two or three times during the week to mix things up a bit.
Outside there are tables and chairs for dining and socialising in the evenings, together with one of two bars. We did not use the pool as it is quite small with only a few sunbeds, and felt a little cramped, instead opting for the beach every day.
Our main reason for choosing this hotel was for its excellent location close to the naturist area of the beach. A five-minute walk across a wooden boardwalk behind the hotel brings you to the beach, and then just a further five minutes walk to the left to reach the nude area. The beach here is really lovely - sandy, flat, with no stones or rocks, and we were able to walk, swim and sunbathe naked all day everyday.
The hotel is also close to plenty of small shops for drinks and snacks for the beach, and also bus stops in both directions, so Sunny Beach and Nessebar can both easily be reached for just a 2 lev bus fare. There are one or two abandoned and derelict hotels in the immediate vicinity of the Aktinia which detract from the views somewhat.
In conclusion the hotel is clean and modern, and we found all the staff to be friendly and helpful throughout our stay, but it is very basic. Nevertheless we did enjoy our holiday in Bulgaria.

The hotel is situated in an ideal location, 40 minutes walk to Nessebar old city and the very center of Sunny Beach as well. In addition, buses run from outside the hotel, which we can get anywhere for 2 levs. There are many shops and souvenirs in the close area of the hotel. Clean rooms and very nice service. The hotel managers are very kind, they greet guests every day and try to deal with any problem. Bartenders very nice, great drink selection, tasty and strong if you ask. Good food, but a bit monotonous -not a problem for a week's vacation. The pool was quite large and deep and the water nice to swim in. At the end of the season, there are still a lot of people in the hotel of various ages which is an advantage. Me and my friends highly recommend!

This hotel is definitely a basic no frills 3 star.
We stayed in one of the hotels 1 bedroom apartments which was nice and spacious and all of the hotel communal areas and rooms are kept very clean.
The pool is small - not really big enough for the size of the hotel with only about 40 sunloungers. One plus point is they do not allow people to reserve loungers - the life guard will remove towels if you have placed them down.
The lifeguard is very strict and there is no jumping in etc allowed - probably due to the size of the pool.
There is a small kids club but it is just a room and the staff don’t do much with the children - they can colour or play games
The young girl working in there is usually just chilling on a bean bag playing on her phone whilst the kids go crazy - you don’t sign them in or out so they can just come and go as they please. It is 10-12 and 4-6pm
The animation guys especially George work really hard and are friendly
But the activities and entertainment in general are very poor
A game of water polo and darts during the day time and usually a quiz in the evening.
The food is very limited and usually more or less the same choices at every meal time. It is often luke warm too other than items freshly cooked on the grill at lunchtime and in the evening. Luckily we only stayed a few days as I couldn’t imagine eating here for a full week or longer.
Breakfast was the best meal with decent choices and freshly cooked eggs and pancakes.
Some of the bar men weren’t very friendly and usually acted like you were putting them out when you asked for a drink!
No glasses are allowed by the pool which is fine but the plastic cups are very small.
One big downside is that they don’t have a late check out option or any facilities to use if you have a late flight home
You have to get changed in the toilet as there are no showers or courtesy room available but they will store your cases after you vacate your room.
The location is quite good with the little train passing outside to take you to sunny beach or Nessebar and it is only a short walk to the beach.

Hotel complex is small, but nice area, close to nessebar and the sunny beach strip. Bar staff were friendly, but the chambermaid staff n management staff were not helpful and very arguementative. i asked for my bed sheets and towels to be replaced and this spark an argument saying that because they are a 3 star hotel they dont clean as often. This is shocking to health and saftey standard as me and ny partner both work in hospitality and know the level all the standards should be at. Food was always the same with pork and chicken always being over cooked and chewy, no sauces to compose with them. Animation team were lovely but should have more activities for adults and children. Would not stay here again, will be back at the riu clubhouse in future!

Kids club non existent
Shuffle back game played half heartedly by so called animation team once a day
Never saw any other activities.
Lifeguard looking at mobile phone constantly
Food repeatedly same . Paid AI but had to eat out
Room was NOT cleaned daily
No atmosphere and fellow guests arrogant and rude pushing kids away to get to buffet first
Booked with an English tour operator but only British family in hotel
Would not recommend

This holiday was better than expected. The hotel is 3 stars and this is an accurate reflection. It is clean, has regular room cleaning and towel replenishing, friendly and welcoming. The food options varied, although, the hotel could go further to review options, however, I appreciate it is catering for a range of holidaymakers from across Europe. Lots of fruit and salad options.
The swimming pool is clean. The staff are extremely friendly especially the hotel manager and Yoanna (to name a few). Whilst the animation team were friendly they didn’t really provide ‘entertainment’ for children and families and if there is anything I would encourage the hotel to improve it would be this. This is not suitable for those families seeking quality entertainment throughout the day and evening and Jet2 should review this on their website. For those wanting to relax by the pool it is perfect.
The position of the hotel was excellent, the bus was 2 Lev which was cheap and we could travel along sunny beach easily, problem free. There are other options like boat rides and a land train which are also good (but more expensive). We didn’t visit the local aqua parks but we did visit the beach which was lovely and family friendly in the day (by night it was a place to party).
We enjoyed our holiday, although found Bulgaria to be more expensive than we thought, especially food and drink outside the hotel. Also, you’ll need mosquito spray as they were making their presence known.
In summary, a good holiday for the price, friendly and warm, variety of food, clean and good position in sunny beach for families out of the main hustle and bustle of the holidaymakers looking for the vibrant nightlife, but close enough if you wanted to sample. The hotel is perfect for couples, groups but not for those looking for quality child-focused entertainment. Nevertheless, we had a good time!

The Aktinia was a lovely small hotel. The manager was very attentive and very helpful. The reception staff all spoke good English and were also very helpful. We were quite early in the season and sometimes it felt like there were more staff than customers! Most of the bar staff were very friendly and gave good measures of gin etc. Our room was small but was always very clean. Our balcony was quite small with 2 chairs but no table. The top of the air con unit was out there and I put drinks on there when I sat outside. We were in a room overlooking the pool and it was very nice. The food was good for an all inclusive. There was always something good to eat. They even did fishfingers one day and they were lovely, proper white fish. The breakfast was good. Streaky type bacon, scrambled eggs, beans. Fried eggs were cooked as you waited and I believe they did pancakes too. Evening meal always had something freshly cooked, the pork ribs were delicious. Ice cream is available between 3 and 5 pm along with other snacks like pizza and chips. There were no issues at all getting a sunbed, if that's what you like to do at the time we went. As it was early in the season there was no entertainment until 4 days into the holiday and consisted mainly of darts and shuffleboard, which we did play occasionally. There was no evening entertainment at all when we were there, but , as I said, it was early! There is a lovely beach bar called Togo about 5 minutes walk away. You can sit on bean bags on the beach or there are swings in the bar you can sit on and look out to sea. It was 19 lev for a large beer and a cocktail there, about £9.50 but you do pay for the view. The Altinka is about 40 minutes from Flower Street and 40 minutes from Nessebar, a UNESCO cultural site. There are very regular mini trains that go both ways that are 6 lev per person. We didn't use that, we just walked. There are also lots of horses with carriages that you can use. All in all, a lovley little hotel with great staff.

We liked our Aktinia and would definitely recommend as great value for the money. Nice cozy clean rooms with balcony and AC. The pool area was nice to relax and the staff and management were lovely. Food in the all inclusive was good and the hotel location is great - just minutes from the beach and you have bars and restaurants close enough as well as the Nesebar town.

Small hotel but worth a visit.
Cheap & cheerful.
Bar staff were brilliant. Bar manager will try to fob you off that they have run out of spirits, just say, that's not ok, he'll soon find more.
Most of the restaurant staff were temp, so not alot of care given. Animation girl was awful.. so if your going with little ones, be ready to put a rocket up her. Reception staff were lovely. Manageress was so lovely.
Rooms are decent sized. No kettle or hairdryer, just take your own, think you can hire them.
You dont need to fight for sunbeds, they have a policy, not used - towels get moved.. it says 30mins, we never struggled.
Small complex, but the strip is 10lev in taxi, haggle. (£3) they'll try for 20 lev.
Beach is 10mins walk. Wooden pathway, bit richerty, but it's ok. 10 lev per bed & brollie - 2 X bed 1 X brollie 30 lev, about £15.
Every meal has chips & pasta on, so even fussy eaters can eat, even breakfast has pasta They do alot of pork and chicken on the grill, cooked Infront of you.
Had a birthday out there, they went above & beyond.
You get clean sheets & towels, if you put the tag on the door.
We, (4 adults) can not complain 😁

Everything was great!
The hotel is located in a great location with good access to the sea, the journey takes about 5 minutes. There are many shops on the street and there is still much to do in the area.
The food was delicious and lots to choose from every day. For breakfast there were always eggs, pancakes, sausages, pastries, vegetables, etc. For lunch and dinner there were always french fries, potatoes in various ways, pasta, baked and grilled meat, salads...Alcoholic drinks were also tasty with lots of alcohol :D. But if you say so, they pour you smaller amount.
Our two bed room were nice with a small bathroom, balcony, fridge and funcional TV. They change your towels like every 2 days and your sheets once a week?
The staff were good, especially George from the animation team who was very active and friendly.
The only thing I would complain about is the large consumption of plastic cups and straws. I think that these could be replaced with paper ones.
Love from the Czech Republic :)
