I stayed at the Orpheus June 2012...its a lovely hotel the rooms are immaculate and very clean, the staff are lovely, we stayed bed and breakfast and the food was lovely we even ate at the hotel a couple of times. Its 5 mins walk to shops and beach, I wouldnt recommend it for children as there is no entertainment for them, but its great for couples, its a small and friendly hotel, and i will be going back again, it has a shaded area with huge tv and comfortable seating, I personally cant see how anyone could complain at staying at the Orpheus.

This was a last minute booking for my friend and myself.(2 mature females)What a lovely friendly hotel and staff. You could not fault breakfast which was bread cheese meats etc.followed by a full english.Standard of food is as good as any you would find in the retaurants and I am told there has been a change of chef recently who we had no complaints about. We arrived at 3am. only to find the travel agent had not requested a twin room but a double and the receptionist went out of his way to accomodate us in a twin room and was so appolgetic because he could not give us a balcony.Rooms are comfortable and spacious the only thing we missed was tea making stuff, but we will remember to take it next year because we will certainly go back. The beautiful pool and rest area are more than adequate for the size of the hotel and the beach is practically on the doorstep. All the quests we met said it was their first visit to Bulgaria and they would certainly go back next year and stay at the Orpheas. We have already got 2012 brochure and just deciding on a date.

Watched this hotel being built around six years ago so knew location was ok.This is our twelfthe time in sunny beach, have stayed in all best hotels in north sunny beach Helena sands ,Majestic etc as we much prefere this part of the resort. This time however we chose a smaller hotel as we were with our children and grandchildren and partners and friends. This would make it easier to find each other 27 rooms as opposed to 700. On arrival the check in was 2mins no problem. Our room was fine no balcony but we knew this.We were on 4th floor there are 2 windows 1 opens fully dangerous if you have children as you have to climb on chair arm to open it.Breakfast was ok choice of cereals meats cheese and then english type in bulgarian fashion.Days spent round the pool were made special by the waiters who were excellent they pampered to your every need mostly beer and cocktails happy hour 11-2 7-11 fantastic. The quiet area around the back is lovely to chill and have nice meal.We only ate once ,good food others who ate there were also pleased if just a little pricey as were the drinks but hayho we are on holiday. Must also mention reception staff one male two female who were very pleasant and friendly and also the lady in dining room who my son named the smiling lady as we could not work out her job other than smiling and greeting everyone. My sons air con broke down in the second week he reported it and we went out for a couple of hours .On our return an new room was waiting, and WOW what a room opulance at its height, the vip room .two very large flat screen tvs and dvd players fully plush carpeted all built in funiture two toilets and showers statues and busts aplenty mood lighting the works.Large balcony etc etc itold them my aircon was also broke no chance. We had one particular entertaining afternoon when two waiters had a bit of handbags and had to be split up by the guests, very amusing.Outside the hotel we went to see our bulgarian freinds we have made over the years.First point of call stanko a charachter who runs the one for the road bar at the Klisura hotel.Besides Stans humour the food is very good. Very good full english even get black pudding .On Sunday my wife had a Sunday roasts (large) ask for yorkshires first as we do from yorkshire yes real yorkshires.followed by dinner with three very large slices of half inch thick slices of beef.BEWARE of Stan when he says try this .green stuff or russiain vodka homemade whisky etc you have been warned, must also mention his hard working wife who is very friendly .Our next point of call is friends pub across from Ivana palace hotel.there we see Doc and Daniella and the waitresses, this bar is very clean and friendly more like a pub the signed shirt we gave them is still on ceiling along with others from around europe. You can use the pool if you are eating there. We have freinds who stay in this hotel so we spend alot of time here. The food is good as are the drinks at reasonable prices.Next point of call Marbella bar across from the Trakia gardens hotel .We meet our friend of welve years George the owner of the bar ,and our favourite waitress who lives in st vlas and Ivan the barman keeper of the best pint in sunny beach. After lots of hugs and kisses George as usual gets all the drinks in.we have afew more drinks then order our meal.I always go for roast chicken fresh off the spit lovely.Several more drinks later we make a move ,but not before George sends over another drink from the boss.Great bar, food drinks and people. Our next outing Khans tent to see owner Dimitar his wife and the long serving waiters Me and my wife allways walk up in the afternoon to reserve our tables sixteen of us this time , we once took forty. The walk used to be nice up the hill past the windmill but development means you must walk road way bit dodgy no pavements. When wer arrive we know why we do it breathtaking views total peace and quiet ,heaven. To Dimitars amusement we order beers and then vodka orange instead of water despite dripping with sweat. After a wash downstairs we spend alovely afternoon on the veranda soaking in the views and totally relaxing ,the others had gone go-karting i know where i would rather be.Dimitar gives us best three tables and away we go. anyone can do this. lot cheaper than booking through rep.You can also eat what you want instead of set meal. recommend sword for two, a show in itself The main show is a must dont wont to spoil it by telling. Last place to mention for good food hawiia bar on the front across from glarus hotel, good food specials board 2-4-10leva plus free drink also good full english. hope this helps anyone we took this holiday 28th june -12th july 2012.Another fantastic holiday in Bulgaria with the Rajman family and friends see you next year.

Booked this hotel because we don't like the big complexes. What a good choice. Paid a bit extra for a bigger room and our room was great with plenty space and big balcony. Went b and b and this was fine with hot and cold choices. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Towels were changed daily. Only problem was getting a sunbed if you were up a bit late but this would not stop us booking the hotel again.

Party of 4 of us went to the Orpheus Late July early August 2012, mum dad & two boys 12 & 17
Had paid the extra for the family room which we were delighted with. Two double bedrooms and living room with bed settee. One bedroom en suite with shower and other bathroom with bath / shower. All rooms air conditioned. tv's in each room and mini bar (we took contents out of mini bar and put our own water / drinks in) in living room. Patio not massive but sufficient, great for people watching.
Hotel very nice and clean and all staff very polite and helpful. Hotel has only 33 rooms so no queuing for breakfast etc. Managed to get sun beds most days and nice atmosphere around the pool. Staff often served drinks / food to us around the pool which was pleasant. Covers on the cushions for the sunbeds could do with a wash but we took our own towels. Bar area nice with settees a big TV to watch too. Also a quiet area to sit in if you wanted which was nice and shaded. Music some times a bit loud in the bar area and was repetitive.......spoke to bar staff who would turn it down and even changed the cd's (which jumped fairly often).
Onto the food....Breakfasts I thought were very good. Cold continental or a hot cooked all of which was help your self buffet. Bar food etc was of good quality burgers pizzas salads etc. We had paid for half board which was fairly cheap but would not recommend the evening meals on the half board set menu. Although the evening meals were freshly cooked the choice was poor and repetitive. Its cheap enough to eat in Bulgaria so would advise to do this especially if you like the evening meal to be the main part of the night. Incidentally we liked the food at the Marvell (just around the corner), The Star Inn on the strip on the front and the flower pub 10 mins walk toward the town.
Incidentally no kettle in the rooms but there is a coffee tea vending machine 30 seconds walk from the front door of the hotel for those that wake before 7 in the morning.
The Hotel is located in a great spot I think. I would say at the better end of Sunny Beach only 1 minutes walk from the sea. A very good large supermarket 30 seconds walk from the front door (we got 1 litre bottle of Vodka £4) and bus stops, taxis and mini train very close by.
Yes the sun does work its way around the pool but that suits me fine and the beach literally a minutes walk away.
People often complained at the big hotels near us that there were problems getting served in the all inclusive hotel bars and the hustle bustle of the dining rooms with 700 people. None of this at the Orpheus, mainly British guests who you saw every day and swapped ideas of things to do and places to eat etc.
Would we go back? Yes we would, happily. Kids enjoyed it and we did too.

We stayed at the Hotel Orpheus from 23rd August to 6th September 2013.
It is ideally situated in a quieter area of Sunny Beach which is exactly what we were looking for as a family of 5.
The hotel is relatively small compared to many of the other hotels in the area and this is reflected by the small but ideal swimming pool with comfortable sun loungers dotted around a decked area around the pool.
The room we stayed in was a twin room with an added camp bed for our 9 year old son. My wife loved the large bath which also had an overhead shower. We also had a balcony which overlooked the road in front of the hotel but this wasn't really much of a problem, most of the noise that we heard during the day and night was created by the clipping of horses hooves from the horse and carts that operated from close by on a daily basis and the occasional coach picking up or dropping guests off at hotels nearby.
The hotel is well located for a short stroll to the beach and the main strip, which we found to be quite loud and busy every evening with restaurants and bars all vying for your custom, which although you do get used to it after a few nights,it does begin to get a little tiresome. We tended to use restaurants away from the beach road because this was the quieter, hassle free way to eat out from our experiences.
We stayed on bed and breakfast basis and we had no complaints whatsoever on the quality of the food. There was a regular choice of a full English along with various breads, cereals, cheeses, cooked meats, fruits.
The staff were really friendly and helpful during our stay and nothing was too much trouble for them. I approached the hotel manager Mariyanna on a couple of occasions to resolve a couple of minor niggles which were dealt with very quickly and professionally.
Our maid Fatme had us in awe of her regular towel creations of swans, dogs, rabbits etc which kept our son amused as well.
The poolside bar area was decorated nicely with cream drapes around huge cream settees which were shaded and very comfortable.
Overall this is a lovely, friendly, small sized hotel in a good location which would be ideal mostly for families and couples and I would definately recommend it.

Boutique hotel comprising of approx 27 rooms, serving a more than adequate continental breakfast with cereal or English equivalent. The English breakfast may not be to everyone's liking ie; hotdog style sausages, ham-type bacon and large beans in tomato sauce, but the staff speak exceptionally good English and will cook alternative options ie; scrambled egg on toast, ham and cheese omlettes etc. Beautiful hotel throughout, lovely rooms with ambient lighting built-in the ceiling (very welcoming when returning during the wee small hours!). Great location, you can catch the train just down the road( adults 3 lev children 1 lev each) which takes you right into the centre, if you don't fancy the 25 minute walk along the front. Beds were made every day and clean towels were also provided every day (even on a Bank Holiday). No problems with the air con not working or the fabulous shower (as reported in another review). Worth paying that little extra for the balcony, we were staying in Room 27 which overlooked the bar, outdoor seating and pool area. My only criticism is that some of the foilage around the hotel was a little high and cast shadows on many of the sunbeds throughout the day, making the age old tradition of "reserving sunbeds" even worse as you were limited to ones not being in the shade!! :o( Also there were not enough beds for the amount of rooms, a point I think has been made in a previous review. We headed off to the lovely sandy beach every day, literally a 5 minute walk and had lunch in one of the many restaurants/bars, as we couldn't be bothered with the hassle! Plenty of free inflatables in the pool for the little ones to play on and no deep area, just waist high. All in all I would definately stay here again

This hotel is no longer owned by the DIT chain so have no association with the majestic anymore. If you have been told you get use of half price sunbeds/brollies on beach at majestic? You won't get those either. We are here on hol at moment n had no idea it had changed management as we were not informed.

Don't think so. We've brought a travel kettle and 2 in 1 sachets of coffee. Coffee at breakfast is fine but if you want tea bring your own! Hotel is lovely tho7gh, even if their tea isn't!!
