Got back from our first visit to Sunny Beach yesterday (19/07) so this was our first experience of a hotel in the resort. The Baikal is a beautiful hotel even before you walk in, the lobby is large and we were greeted well on reception and there was even someone who took our cases and showed us to our apartment. Our apartment was on the 5th floor on the north wing and overlooked the rear gardens but not the pool, The apartment was of a good size for the 2 of us (one having the bedroom and the other having the lounge area, but it would have been a bit overcrowded for 4 people. Was surprised that there was no kitchenette with it being an apartment but we were all inclusive so that wasnt really a problem, and there was no kettle provided either which would have been nice for the cuppa before bed or in the morning. Again not really a problem as we asked at reception and was lent one. There are no safes in the rooms so please be aware of this, for the first couple of days we left the "do not disturb" sign on the door and after that only got maid service once and that was only to empty the bin and leave a couple of fresh towels, so hardly a service, on another morning we were late leaving the room and asked the maid to return in 10 mins as we were due to leave, we were scowled at and no longer had any service. Also please be aware that if you have mobility issue there is no direct lift access the the 5th floor on the left wing, so lift to 4th floor and up a flight of stairs, again not a problem for us but worth requesting a different floor if mobility is an issue.

Sadly most of the staff seemed pretty miserable and rarely cracked a smile even when spoken to.

The restaurant is large and spacious and offers a great choice of food and the food (what we had of it) was always delicious, the main problems I found was the almost constant massive queues for every serving, we didnt bother with breakfast after the first morning and opted to eat out and found the same with lunchtime servings too. The evening servings are from 18:00 to 21:00 and we opted to eat around 20:15 as the queues had died down a little and there was actually somewhere to sit and eat but do not leave your half eaten food unattended (or even with your travel party) as plates are cleared regardless of food content, this happened to my travel partner as he went to get a drink from the bar and his food was gone even though I was sat at the table and he couldnt get anymore food as at 20:45 it seems the food is starting to be cleared away from the serving area.

My biggest problem was actually the other guests, it seems being mainly German, Russian and Bulgarian. Now I have no problem with other nationalities but I found the other guests to be extremely rude and the restaurant was just a wall of sound with them all trying to talk over each other. No this is not a problem with the hotel, just something people need to be aware of, If you dont mind competing with others to be heard then thats fine, but I prefer a more relaxed dining experience.

All in all the Baikal is beautiful hotel and is an excellent base for all activities in and around Sunny Beach. But would I return to this hotel? I am afraid the answer would be no.

Just returned from a holiday at the Hotel Baikal. Stayed as a family of 3. Check-in was at 2 pm. The room was given with the surrounding overlooking the pool on the 3rd floor. To get to the room you had to go through a long balcony overlooking the road, but it was not noisy. The room was good, 3 beds, TV, refrigerator, new renovation, comfortable beds. The staff is polite and pleasant. The food is very tasty and varied, bravo to the chef! There were 2 round tables and one long table. In the morning, there were pastries (croissants, buns, muffins ..), various types of cereals with hot and cold milk, dried fruits (bananas, figs, pineapple, dried apricots), chocolate and jam in small boxes on the round tables. On the long table for breakfast there were about 15 types of sausages and various cheeses, eggs, waffles. For lunch and dinner at one round table there were snacks (various types of olives, cheeses, pickles, fish snacks, olives), at the second table there were desserts (cakes, muffins). At the long table there were vegetables, salads, several types of meat and fish, which changed every day - a large selection. The only negative is the huge line to the long table, which went all the way to the hall. Everyone stood in line, and the tables at which you need to eat were empty. From 11 to 17 pizza, burgers, french fries and fruits - watermelon, melon, peaches and various cookies. The hotel has a fitness center, not to say that the simulators are new, but you can work out, but big + that it is free. Internet catches in the lobby, in the restaurant and on the street, as well as on our balcony, but not very good. The pool bar is open from 10 to 18, after 18 you could only order drinks for money, but the lobby bar is open until 23, so drinks can be taken there. The hotel has animators, conduct aqua polo, ping pong, darts, games. Children's disco starts at 20 o'clock, musical quizzes, karaoke, dances, comedy shows are held at 21 o'clock. Vicki, Yani, Ivan, Sarka and the boy whose name I don't know are great fellows!!
Although the hotel has 3 stars, it deserves at least 4! We would love to come back and recommend to everyone!!

I was really happy at this place , use to live in Bulgaria 🇧🇬 back in 2016 and come back after 6 years , what a great experience at this hotel 🏨 superior room , great food , space and good beach 🏝️ very close by foot. You have the old town nessebar in 15 min with the bus 🚌 number 10 for 2 euros 💶 with air conditioning. And Bulgarian people never disappointed me.

We arrived about 2am to check in all very smooth we were adked if we wanted anything to eat but just wanted to get to rooms we were shown the rooms a worker helped us with cases all very good the room is nice very clean and comfy the whole hotel is spotless the meals have plenty off choice and very tasty. Slightly repetitive but nice the only bad thing was the pool where you could not get a sunbed ever unless you got up at 6 to race for one every day when you did go in for a swim you saw all the empty sunbeds with towels on I personally think the managment should take every towel away after 40 mins as some towels down for hours with no one on them. Reception staff very good and will help with anything all staff are very good would def go to this hotel if back at sunny beach

Just got back from a week at the Baikal Hotel and we had a wonderful time. Staff very friendly, animation team superb and hotel in great location with beach and shops on the doorstep. Beautiful spacious bedroom with view of pool and whole hotel spotlessly clean. The food choice was very good and was something for all tastes, only criticism was queues in restaurant were very long at times.

It was our first time to Bulgary and we went for 14 days. We stayed in a big studio with 2 toilets. There was one 2 pers bed and 1 sofa that was seperared so our 2 daughters could sleep. The bed was too hard. The hotel did try to seperare the sofabeds more but it still is not a bed but a sofa. The cleaning was perfect and every day new sheets and new towels! The food was a large variety you can chose from. But the basics (pasta, pizza, rice, salad) stayed the same. The food was never warm enough as the ice-cream was always melted... My husband went to the pool every day at 6.30 to lay towels but even then a lot of beds were already reserved.
Worst thing in the hotel is no wifi in the room and everywhere else in the hotel unreliable.
Animation team are hardworking, especially Vicky!

Great hotel, the staff is wonderful, very friendly and fun, a lot of activities, is always clean and the food is good. Many thanks to the animators Krasimir, Vikkie and Karina, did a great job entertaining people and helping make connections between them; and to Ivo, a really nice person and bartender.
A pleasant stay, would highly recommend and definitely come back.

Had a great holiday with my daughter and 3 granddaughters aged 12 ,9 and 4 . Food was lovely and always something to choose from even English breakfast every day, sometimes was a little warm but I prefer my food like that anyway so wasnt a problem to us , the rooms were absolutely gorgeous with a walk in shower , Maria our cleaner was lovely and we had fresh clean towels every day of our 7 night stay , we were the only English family there at the time but still enjoyed it , the pool was just what we wanted not too big so we could keep our eyes on the kids on the loungers which were brand new , the kids entertainer Julia was amazing with the girls and even spent time learning them a little Bulgarian all in all we had a fantastic week here and would definitely return 🥰🥰

Nicely refurbished rooms in a great hotel in a fantastic location, very clean hotel with very hard working and welcoming staff,
The food was edible and had a good choice although it varied from day to day! one day it would be hot, the next day cold, so very inconsistent, but there was always something to eat,
The hotel is located about 15 minutes walk away to the strip where you can party your nights away in one of many bars and clubs, and a 5 minute walk to the gorgeous "Sunny Beach"
I have already booked to go back to the Baikal Hotel for my holiday in June 2020 and i am looking forward to my return.
