Wouldn't recommend till the owner will invest into descent food and pay staff more.. Stay clear 🙏 They used hotel as Ukrainian refugee camp..it's ok..but I had to pay big money for two weeks of spoiled holiday mainly down to a bad lunches and dinners, kids couldn't eat anything apart crepes in the morning chips..chips ..chips...even chicken nuggets had sawdust like orangy meat inside of them 🙈 Miserable bar staff... All in all I blame the owner..he takes the money but doesn't want to put it back into business ..hence food is crap and misirabke workers..we were talking to workers, they are getting peanuts per day ..we paid £4000 for our holiday . And it was absolutely spoiled 💔 Please before paying your hard orned money..read reviews...in main time avoid this place

We stayed at Mena Palace in July 2022, very nice staff (loved the water polo). Can someone help - we’d love to know the name of the kids club song they did every day, as my son wants to show his friends the ‘tickle’ dance! Thank you very much :) and thank you for a great holiday.

We booked the Mena Palace through Sunmasters holiday. After a bad start to arriving due to the airline company we made it a day late and just in time for a couple of drinks encouraged by staff who made us feel really welcome. Our room was lovely and spacious and two lovely plates of food with nibbles arrived as we were unpacking. Next day was spent around the pool relaxing and enjoying drinks followed by a storm well it was September. We enjoyed trips to Nessebar and the mountains both lovely. The food in the hotel was nothing to write home about you could find something to eat each day but I have had better buffets. We were fully inclusive and the wine was something I would stay clear of. The spirts were in abundance just be careful if your not used to large measures. The room as mentioned was spacious the beds comfortable and the room cleaned with towels changed each day. The hotel was very clean and staff seemed to take a pride in this. Some staff were more memorable than others but you find this where ever you go. Thank you to the ladies on reception, you are both wonderful and a real asset to the Mena Palace. The area has a lot to offer with other bars, shops, beach, transport connections all very close by. Unfortunately Bulgaria is not for us but we thank the Mena for a memorable holuday.

We stayed, 3rd week September at the Mena Palace hotel. We have stayed at a neighbouring hotel, (Kalina Garden), the same week pre-Covid, which was very good except for no indoor pool and poor evening entertainment, held outdoors. We had hoped that this would be remedied at Mena Palace. Not so. The indoor pool was no more than a splash pool with a childrens slide and it was closed. As was the fitness centre and sauna. The evening entertainmaent was also outdoor, mediocre and repetitive. The outdoor pool was too small for busier months and whilst there were lots of sunbeds there would be insufficient space for them at busier times. No hotel information pack or signage was provided. We did not find the Sky Bar and the Lobby Bar was closed. The only bar available was the outdoor Pool Bar, open only from 10.00 to 22.00, on the dot. Far too early for holidaymakers, and besides, far too cold late September for comfort. The "entertainment" was by the Pool Bar, again too cold. The restaurant, whilst attractive, needs a little tlc and is far too small. Even at low capacity at the end of season, there were too few tables. During our week we, once had to share a table with foreign nationals, strangers with no common language and 3 times, ate our meals in the unequipped lobby, whilst others took their meals outside in the cold. We all inclusive holiday up to 4 times a year which, by comparison, qualifies our restaurant review. The menu choice was very limited. Each day was just a variation of chicken and pork, occasionally beef and/or a vegan stew. Always cold or lukewarm. TIP. Get deserts first as they are not replenished and usually gone by the end of your meal. All is buffet style and self service. There is no alcohol available in the restaurant but you can bring it in from the Pool Bar. Coffee is not available at all sittings. Also, on our first day, the evening restaurant times were reduced from 18.30 -22.00 to 18.30-2030. Most holidaymakers on excursions or out for the day, usually dine from 19.30 onwards. On the plus side, the rooms are very good, large and spacious with comfortable beds and excellent en-suites. Most staff are very good and helpful but room service is basic, fresh towels and a clean up daily but no linen change. TIP. Do not use the abundant, rip-off blue and yellow ATMs. Use either a bank or the green and white Bulgarian ATMs.

Dear Guest, It is very interesting how you keep booking same period year after year and you have different expectations. At the end of the season the price is really a jack pot and you can not expect perfect hot weather, warm water in the pool etc. Sky bar has changed its name to cocktail bar and was available against charge. We don't promote coffee available at all sittings, but you can buy it from our both bars. Pool area was deffinitelly not busy at the time of your stay, and don't forget that guests come mostly because of the sea water, not pool. We have 140 sitting places indoor and 140 sitting places outdoor - pretty enough even in the top season. Thank you for being our guest.

I just got back from a week in Mena palace, I go on all inclusive holidays at least 3 times a year with my friends, and I’ve got to say this is the worst place I’ve stayed. I’d start with the positive the bedroom is spacious good power shower, and the drinks are strong. Yes it’s dated but wasn’t a problem. But negative firstly the food is the worst I’ve ever had, we all know all inclusive is not the best however u always find a few things and get more then 1 plate, well you can’t even eat 1 plate everything was horrible I’ve never ate such bad food ever in my life. Staff in dining room were ok, but the bar staff woman are the worst customer service I have ever experienced, they are rude, no manners and pure attitude, I work in customer service and I would of been sacked if I acted the way they did. For example you ask for cocktail ie, vodka lemonade and syrup, not done my machine, u ask for non alcoholic cocktail they said they don’t do it and stop asking. ( if it was ready made cocktail fair enough but it wasn’t). Just a bit of negative if you go around same time a lot of sunny beach has closed due to season ended which they should be a note when booking that half the town is closed. I would avoid this hotel as the food and rudeness alone of bar staff woman is a disgrace and they should never have there jobs there. Last thing 1 but of entertainment for 30mins for whole week.

Dear Zoe, Thank you for your review. We are all very sorry that we couldn't satisfy your taste for the food, but unfortunatelly this is the risk when you go to a foreign country. Normally this issue should be solved on time in place, not on internet. 30 min of entertainment is absolutelly not correct information to the audience. Sport activities, child activities, live music every night 2 hours, bulgarian folklore show once a week as well - all of this was available by the time of your stay. You are absolutelly right about the fact that at the end of the season almost everithing is closed in the area and the weather may be not good enough, but when you book a holiday at a reasonable price, it is part of the risk. Stay possitive!!!

Booked an All Inclusive stay with lower expectations as the price was very reasonable but to be fair, I was pleasantly surprised. Checked in at 9pm to find they had placed a cold meat salad and bread plate in my room as dinner was over, dropped of my luggage and headed to the bar as the all inc drinks stop at 10pm . The measures are huge, and absolutly not diluted, we were extremely merry after two glasses. The place generally was clean, and the staff were keen on litter picking and table wiping. The room cleaning was regular and excellent. I had clean towels every day and sheets changes throughout my weeks stay. Meals were a little but if a bun fight if you went early so we ate later in each service. We thought it was hilarious that some people were taking tupperware tubs of food at breakfast to keep them going on the beach all day! The situation within Sunny Beach was great. Far enough from 'The Strip' to be quiter, but not so far you couldn't be there in 5 mins. There was also a land train stop close by that serves all of the bay - and a Macdonalds if you really can't bear life without Junk. Couple of downsides for me were the food was a bit 'samey', but I was never hungry, and my bed was a bit lumpy, but It didnt ruin my week as the undiluted large spirit measures seemed to balance it out. I liked the place. I would say if you wanted a cheap beach break and are considering Sunny Beach then give it a try.

We went for a fortnight from 6-9-22 and arrived back on Tuesday. Firstly can I say I’m not slating this hotel as there are lots of good things about it however if you are English I’d say this is not a hotel that caters for the English food wise, though we did eat a lot of salads .The rooms were large and the beds ok , cleaned daily , maid was lovely. All inclusive drinks were plentiful and large and the bar staff especially Viktoria and Pas were brilliant, attentive and cheerful. Great team. Entertainment was average and same old no daytime entertainment except for aerobics/yoga a few times. Staff seemed to be in their phones a lot even in the restaurant. As I said food was hit and Miss more miss than hit, and a lot was cold , microwave was disgusting and then broke! Two toasters ( 2sliced) ones were awful, slow and old and not enough for size of hotel. Coffee machines in restaurant off apart from breakfast which means you have to go to outside bar to get a hot drink. Outside bar was only bar open unless you went to cocktail bar where you paid. Meta on reception aims amazing, helpful and always smiles unlike a lot of staff who literally don’t even reply to a good morning! Maybe language barrier but a smile is international!! You can’t even get a glass of water after 10pm so little tip fill your fridge up in the bedroom with water, pop and snacks as once restaurant closes at 9pm that’s it until 7-30am..no supper option Good little takeout on corner on left from hotel had the most amazing chicken wrap for 8 lev!! However for what we paid we can’t grumble, always managed to find something, actually lost some weight on return home ( bonus) but I did eat plenty of salads and drank lots of water. Use the public transport 2lev and yes it’s a busy bus but regular service. We went to Nessebar a couple of times and it’s beautiful and worth a visit Booked Khans Tent and I’d 100% say this trip was the best ever we’ll worth 75 lev, which includes 4 course meal and drinks plus pick up and drop off.. and the entertainment is some of the best I’ve seen ever..Don’t book with Balkan travel as no pick up/drop and charging 100 lev . Flower St is a must go thriving and lots to see/shop/people watch. Yacht trip is a fishing boat overcrowded and in our opinion a bit dangerous but great for tanning if your lucky enough to get on 1st, Mena Palace is rated a 4* however I’d give it a 3* for staff ( mainly bar and restaurant) and 2* for food unless you like pork which seemed to be the only meat followed by yellow chicken.. Would we stay here again? No but only because it’s more geared up for other nationalities and have very few English guests the hotel itself is clean and pool is lovely no rushing for sun beds but not for us. Like I said I’m not personally slating this hotel as apart from the culture difference with food and guests and ourselves it was a good break.. yet again a big shout out to Viktoria and Pas what a brilliant team

Just returned from a weeks stay at the Mena , the hotel is dated but CLEAN Rooms: We stayed on 4th floor ( 411/413) rooms large ( dated) but clean with double size shower ...power shower excellent no problem with pressure or heat. Maid changed sheets / towels/ bins and general clean everyday. Safe box in wardrobe . Pool: Didnt stay around pool during the day as it was quite cramped for us , but there was sunloungers to use if we had wanted too . We walked to beach as only 5mins. Hired sunbed & umbrella 10lev each . Hotel Bar : Served local drinks ( large measures) could pay for imported. Bar closed at 10pm . Also a coffee machine on bar to help yourself. Entertainment : Man and lady band ,where quite good a mixture of different songs . A couple of nights there was a Bulgarian night and another night a couple of dancers that were getting the people up to dance ( Advertisement of Entertainment would of been a good idea to let guests know of events ) Food: Breakfast had a good selection ....but mushrooms / bakedbeans & tomatoes were always cold which was a shame . A lovely smiling lady ( blond hair) served the eggs & pancakes ( most of the rest of the staff quite grumpy but its the end of season so i put it down to that . Evening meal very repetitive mainly chicken & chips / vegan spaghetti bolognese. One night had a lovely pork stew with potatoes thou . Location of hotel: Hotel is in a great location 5mins walk to beach , little shop ( supermarket) right next to hotel lovely lady that served in there. Souvenir shops around & bars . The main street ( FLOWER STREET) that has all the entertainment, party time , shops & bars is only a 10 min walk . Overall : A clean hotel that is dated , in a great location and i would stay at this hotel again for the price i payed

If you go expecting this to be a traditional 4 star hotel you will be very disappointed, however I do believe this hotel is excellent value for money. The rooms are large and the maids came in every day and left clean towels. The pool area was very clean and I saw them cleaning every morning. We were all inclusive and I would say the food is adequate, we went with the intention of eating out every night as it's cheap in the restaurants. The bar was open until 10pm for all inclusive drinks which were all local and adequate. They had entertainment most nights in the form of singers which was nice touch. There wasn't much going on in the day. This hotel is an excellent choice if you want to be near the centre but not in the middle of the action and would definitely return if got the same deal we got this year.

So I have just returned from a week's stay at the mena palace with my 14 year old son. So here we go,they say they staff at a hotel can make or break your holiday, well at mena, the staff are wonderful, from reception to the cleaners,BUT the staff at the pool bar are ignorant, miserable and rude.i was brought up to always say hello, please and thankyou, manors cost nothing, but manors must not be part of AI pakage because the POOL BAR staff DON'T talk,in 7 days not one word like 'hello what would like' and 'your welcome enjoy'but NOTHING just a cold stare then point at me.ive worked hard all year for this holiday,I don't want to see miserable people who seemingly begrudge me my pre-paid for "free" drink. I thought the food was good,I always found something to eat,and enjoyed it.BUT at breakfast time if you want a fried egg,you have to join the pancake que, that can be 20 deep.why don't they have one doing eggs, and one doing pan cakes?or pre make them like all the other food.as for toast,2 small dual slice toasters, for a hotel that has over 200 rooms,at least 500 guests. The rooms are quite large. The pool is big enough and quite deep, which my son liked. NOW let's talk about the whole hotel guests topic of conversation, every morning, noon and night, the WI-FI !!!!!.ive stayed in hundreds of hotels, and this is by far the worst wifi ever.it is non existent,I spoke to reception, they said they are aware, but it's out of there hands.i did a wifi speed test every day in every area, including reception i got 2mb-4mbps max.at my home it's 350 mbps.a business should have superfast GIGABYTE speed wifi as a bare minimum.i did speed tests in the local bars, they ranged from 200-500mbps,obviously they care about there customers! So in a nutshell this hotel could be excellent, with a few cheap easy fixes. Get better toasting machines One more staff on breakfast Teach pool bar staff to smile and be polite. This is not the early 90's,in this day and age WIFI is essential, this is supposed to be a family hotel, kids of all ages expect good wifi as standard, especially if that's what i have pre paid for.
