Detailed Reviews
I went at the end of June 2022, a family with 2 children. The location is excellent, right on the beach. The natural reservation next to the hotel ensures an excellent coolness in the rooms. The cleanliness in the rooms was good, towels changed on time. The food in the restaurant was tasty but about 80% always the same. Because you don't go on vacation just to eat, for us it was ok and we had something suitable to eat.

We have just returned from this holiday the picture shown of the pool on the website is for Hotel Gergana. Albena beach club has two dip pools right in front of the hotel and one indoor pool with jacuzzi. The pool in Hotel Gergana was freely available for use.
I did find the reception staff, especially when i wanted to book a late room, seemingly unhelpful, but with perserverance it was more like a language barrier and they tried all they could to explain and answer questions. Really couldnt find any fault when i understood the problem. Booking a late room was a nightmare and we very nearly didnt get one but it is one that the reps need to address especially if you have a late flight, ours was at 03:55 am
I found the food very good easily comparable to hotels in spain and sometimes even better, the problem was that two hotels had been combined into one with the restaurant serving both. The meat dishes were cooked in front of you, and they had fresh bread and fruit at each sitting, the cakes were lovely some of the nicer ones went quickly, in the pool bar they had free ice cream, pizza, chip, sausages and spaghetti as well as fruit and daily cakes. The drinks were not sugar free and you had a choice of fanta, coca cola and lemonade. They had water coolers but only the one in reception dispensed cold water.
I would not venture too far out of Albena, english is not readily understood and we got into difficulties coming back from varna after visiting the dolphinarium, the commercial bus service which took us down would not pick us up for the return journey, the bus driver even laughing as he passed us. Its a long story but we were at risk and therefore I would advise anyone to be wary. Using reps trips by far the safest option.
We went to the pirates trip and it was excellent. Take really good suncream used factor 30 and still burnt sun very strong.
On the whole I found this holiday one of the best I have been on for a number of years very relaxing and we had a fantastic sea view which made the holiday for me.

We have just returned from a two centre holiday to Albena Beach Club and Bansko. The hotel in Albena was excellent value for money; right on the beach and very clean, with friendly and helpful staff.
I have been surprised at the negative remarks I have read about the food at this hotel because we found it to be very good indeed. It was well cooked and served and there was a very good selection. Everything was fresh - lovely fresh vegetables every day, fish and various meats (always a joint being carved as well). There was a particularly excellent choice for vegetarians, hot and cold food, which often is forgotten in foreign hotels. Bread was baked fresh for breakfast every morning and pan cakes were freshly made. I have stayed in many hotels where the food has been inferior to Albena Beach Club!
The rooms were large and most had a lovely sea view. Albena beach is wonderful! White sand and clear shallow water - perfect for children. Much less touristy than Golden Sands or Sunny Beach, it's the place to go if you don't want to share the beach with thousands of other people. In spite of the dire predictions of rife prostitution we never came across a single 'lady of the night' during our stay.
The second part of our holiday to Bulgaria was spent in the mountain town of Bansko, which was lovely! The weather is just as good as in the beach resorts and it is the best way to see the real Bulgaria. There is a lot of building work going on at present but, when it is finished, it will rival the Alpine resorts in Austria and Switzerland for beauty - and is much cheaper!! Take a tip from me and book a two centre holiday with Balkan Holidays, staying at The Albena Beach Club and Bansko - you won't be disappointed!

The visit started with nobody from the staff wearing face masks... okay Albena is supposedly COVID free, you can still protect yourself with mask, no biggie. the rooms are a bit harder to find as nobody shows you where your room is and the rooms are seperated by odd and even numbers even though its not marked anywhere. When you do find your room, you wish you didnt find it at all. The hotel room is absolutely disgusting. As soon as you open the room it stinks like mold and sewers, toilet had leftover dry pee from previous user and there was severe mold on the walls. Everything looked as if it wasnt touched for 40 years and had old dirt onto it. After complaining to the management they laughed into our faces and didnt even apologize or went to check the room only insisted that it was clean and that they saw it after it was cleaned (judge for yourselves). If you want coffee be ready to diy because the bartender only attends to solo payers and not all inclusive guests. Not to mention staff enters room without knocking and you cant even use safe in your room as it is not included so be ready to carry your valuables to beach or food. Was here on bussiness, would never pay for such room or spend a minute in it. Not even 2* hotel, do not recommend to anyone.

Well where to start .
This hotel was nothing but horrible .
The staff were nothing but rude they hate the english .
There is no entertainment at this hotel you have to use the hotel next door but dont bother as it was very poor .
We were given tiny clear plastic cups to drink from which was pointless but if you were from another country then you were given a proper glass .
The food was horrible and not much choice and was always cold
what was left over at lunch time was put back on in the evening .
There is nothing to do in the area no shops bars or resturants you have to use a taxi which can work out expensive .
They have a jacuzzi and indoor pool but you have to pay to use them
The outside area around the very small pools was not very clean .
Tables in the resturant and other eating areas were never cleaned
Never seen anywhere cleaned with a mop either .
Hotel staff totally unhelpful . Guy in charge of the pool was really rude and arrogant .
You would be very brave to book this hotel after reading the recent reviews that have been put up .
Please dont waste your money to stay at this hotel because you will be bored very easy stuck around the hotel with nothing to do and no where to go !
Im just so glad i never booked for more than a week because it was not a holiday it was more depressing !
The only positive was that the rooms were cleaned and new towels given
They had the reception area decorated for christmas with christmas songs playing not really sure and the staff dressed in christmas outfits which i thought was very strange and i didnt even bother to ask why .
Please avoid this hotel because you wont enjoy it there are much better places to stay in bulgaria .
I understand you get what you pay for but a week all inclusive for £650 pp to stay in a prison is not the ideal holiday !

Where do I start! This place looks like it's been hit by shrapnel from the outside! Inside no better Filthy floors, Coffee machines, 1970s room decor. Balcony rusty / mouldy. Shower didn't drain away when using. Beds are SO HARD it's impossible to get comfortable. The exterior seating area absolutely filthy, uneven decking. Pool area dangerous uneven and missing slabs. The floor in the upstairs games room is so dirty you literally stick to it as you walk. We never saw the floors being cleaned apart from a sparce sweeping now nd again. The Salads were not held at proper chilled temperatures and sometimes were even warm. Chipped soup dishes being used. When we voiced our concerns ( the first morning) we were made to feel in the wrong for pointing things out and was even approached several times by the restaurant manager asking us why we are taking photos and" is that making you happy" was his very words , shocking customer service. We left for 3 nights and stayed elsewhere. We had no drinks from the coffee / juice machines with our food the whole week they were so dirty. The large barbecue was being used time after time WITHOUT being cleaned. We attempted to show a pic to the restaurant manager, he turned his back and waked away waving his arms. We did leave a letter of complaint with the reception when we left and not one member of staff seemed sympathetic . We have been to Bugaria many , many times since 2007 and travelled all over the country from end to end just about ,this is the WORST . This "hotel" should never be open, don't go there. !!!

I don't even know where to start and usually I will just make the best out a bad situation but honestly this was horrific. The food was disgusting, staff rude and aggressive, drinks vile.
We made the best out a bad situation and ended up trauma bonding with other British people but had they not been there I would have gone home on day 2.
The location is beautiful and that's about it. Nothing is open and it's miles from anywhere.
There is supposed to be a snack bar but it's just an angry man making pizza and when asked if there was anything vegetarian he would shout and wave his hands round. I didn't eat any snacks when there after that.
The pool man literally ran down an older lady screaming and shouting at her for getting in the jacuzzi! The sign is misleading and states you can have 5 min free but apparently you have to pay for 10min then get 15... it is also next to the indoor pool which is free to use so makes no sense at all.
When we checked in we were given a sheet of paper with the times for food and rules, that was it. Luckily we bumped into some other holiday makers and they explained you can use the hotel next door but not eat there. They would give us some drinks.
All in all it was cheap but it was horrific and I would never stay in that place again if you paid me.

We feel let down. We were booked into the Hotel Sluvana next door but that shut before we arrived and Love Holidays put us into this hotel with very little notice nor option.
Firstly good point ; towels changed regularly and lovely smiling cleaners
The reception manager was lovely. The other staff on reception rude
The shop was run by a lovely cheerful man
Confirm superking bed
Bad points:
most of the staff were rude. The Restaurant manager the rudest of all.
Food didn’t cater for vegetarians. I basically lived on cabbage or peppers on rice for lunch and dinner. I’m also gluten intolerant. I was given a loaf of gluten free bread by the head chef. Thank you. As up til then I just ate fruit for breakfast. The promised vegetarian meals never appeared
The vegetable and salad taste of chlorine.
Pillows are solid
Bathrooms smell of sewers
Tiny fridge that turned off when you leave the room.
No fresh juices.
The English were not allowed to use glasses in the restaurant. We had to use flimsy plastic disposable ones. Bulgarian and German were given wine glasses
There was no entertainment. We were told to use another local hotel but after a few of days they told us we no longer could use it. The lifeguard on the other hotel shouted at me for getting a ‘glass’ of water! He was very angry and aggressive.
The area around the Mura Pool is dangerous with broken slabs and uneven tiles. The pools are miniature and cold and deep. There is no child’s pool
Everything is shut in surrounding area.

Horrible nasty hotel and staff. I don’t even know where to start with letting people know how awful this hotel is. They absolutely hate the English please do not stay here if u are English.
They are rude and treat us different from other guests. We can’t have the same drinks can’t use the sun beds the indoor pool, they are so rude and shout at us.
We actually get asked where we are from and when we say English they say no to what we have asked for.
There were a few English people in the hotel, families, couples and single travellers and they all said the same.
There is no entertainment at Mura so we are told to use a hotel further along but can’t use our all inclusive there. There was a really nice man who worked in the entertainment and he said he felt sorry for us and was really kind to us.
The rooms are grotty, beds are hard. I feel Really sad that we wasted our money and booked a holiday here.
The drinks we are allowed are undrinkable taste like battery acid. We were buying drinks from the shop to drink.
There is nothing else open near by, no restaurants no shops nothing to do.
We will be making sure we let everyone we know how horrible it was and not to go to Albena
