We spent 10 nice days in Hotel Slavuna with my family again. The hotel team is very friendly, and also helpful. If you have any request, they are trying to help you for sure. Especially the Manager lady is very friendly and supportive. The clean, restaurant is offering delicious food, in special days including "show " elements. We enjoied it really. The beach is clean, sandy, optimal for families for resting, swimming, or building things from sand with kids. Compared to previous years there are much less people smoking on the beach, so it is more comfortable, if you are a non smoking person. We can also use the huge pool beside the hotel. It is practical, in case waves are bigger then your preference. If you are lucky with the weather, you can see with naked eye in the sea lot of spieces of sea animals swimming, walking, running beside your feet in the sea :) I think it is an evidence, the sea is very clean there. If you take a walk on the forest side, you can see even beaver in the river beside the hotel.

As summary: I can only recommend the hotel Slavuna for family holiday, if you want just to enjoy your holiday, and let the hotel team do the service for you.

We spent a few days in hotel Slavuna and loved every second of it.
The food at the all inclusive was different every day and everything we tried was amazing.
The room was clean and tidy, the sheets and towels were changed often.

The hotel is not clean. Throwing your towels on the floor runs the risk of having none at all. Everything moldy in the bathroom. Beds must be made themselves. This morning, all the coffee machines were broken. Everyone I spoke to just shrugged their shoulders. We are the 5x in Bulgaria, but it gets worse and worse from time to time. We're not going there anymore. We are absolutely disappointed.

Positives:
Friendly reception personnel, Sea was close by and the pool (which is shared) was clean and surprisingly not over-populated. Comfortable beds so good sleep quality. 8 flavors of Ice Cream :)

Negatives:
All inclusive alcohol wise was extremely limited, Domestic Spirits only and no cocktails.

Dinner was very repetitive and not very child friendly so getting the kids to eat a decent amount of anything was not easy at all. Shares restaurant with hotel next door also so queues were often long with no seating.

No AC for first night and reception even said "That room again" and had water leaking down the wall from room above on last night.

Did not see a single shuttle (free) but taxis were always waiting there to charge

All inclusive was just not worth it in my opinion...

Ultra dirty !! We paid for 3 nights and left in less than 1 hour !! the place where the food is made is extremely dirty, you couldn't stay in the rooms either, the pizza guy while he was cooking ate watermelon and then he licked his fingers and continued to prepare the food .. the guys at the bar started fighting when I made a complaint to the manager that there is mess everywhere. terrible and to be avoided!!

The hotel is old, small rooms, not all of them overlooking the sea front. Some overlook the pool and is noisy and the children can not rest.
There is very little cleaning.
The food is not too good.
They stand in line at the restaurant and is very crowded.

Hotel Slavuna is a good 3* hotel, with two main strong points:

1. Location. Being far from Albena's centre (it's a 15-min ride with the road train) means that traffic is low - and that's very important, considering that, most likely, you'll be "parking" your car on the side of the road. For this "privilege" you will pay 6 Leva for the whole stay (when entering Albena you will receive a parking ticket that you have to show at the reception desk).

Also the hotel is right on the beach so you can watch the sunrise from any room with a sea view. Moreover, the beach is narrower than in the Northern part of Albena (Hotel Kaliakra) and not so crowded, allowing for a more intimate feeling.

2. Food: tasty, varied (two things of great importance considering there's no kids bar) and plentifull. No chips and sadly no seafood - except for some fish (the one dinner they served mussels at doesn't count). The queing system at the hot meals bars is all screwed up, resulting in people waiting in line for 10 mins or more just to get a piece of meat. My personal highlights: soups and pancakes - hats off for Mr. Nikolaj on that last one; loved his tools, his moves and his speed.

TripAdvisor ranks Slavuna as No. 2 in Albena, but with just location and food as its main strong points, how did Slavuna get such good ratings eludes me. There are some things that are dragging the value for money factor down.

For instance, forget about "all inclusive". You must pay for all kind of more or less important stuff like: room safe key, drinks in the minibar, beach towels (replacing used towels is also charged) or mats.

Reliable room cleaning service is also to be desired. Not only do they come at the most inappropriate time of day (like when you're taking a shower after returning from the beach at noon), but the staff is downright rude, entering the rooms without knocking (it happened twice to us and once to a friend of ours, who literally stumbled upon the cleaning lady when he was coming out of the shower). Also, they don't do much cleaning either. The trash was taken out only once in a whole week, I haven't seen them making the beds and towels took no less then four days to replace (meaning that they brought in some clean ones, without removing the used ones). Moreover, some sheets were stained from the beginning.

Some switches or door handles in the rooms need replacing. Management should check for sewage issues, as there is a persistant bad smell in the bathroom throughout the day (it only goes away at night so I guess it has to do with the showers). Otherwise, the rooms are quite all right, cosy but a bit cramped up (especially the bathrooms).

Free wi-fi is available - even on the beach - and it is at its best only in thw morning. Otherwise the connection is rather slow (due to numerous users I guess).

All this considered, it's impossible for me to accept that Slavuna is the best Albena has to offer. What am I to expect from a 4-star hotel then (or even higher)? Slavuna might be a good pick for a 3* hotel, but that's as far it goes.

I can't see myself coming back here.

We enjoyed our stay at Slavuna, nice room with balcony and sea view, good staff, great food at the restaurant (anyone could find something to enjoy, there were lots of cold and hot dishes, salads, soups, fruit; we had a seafood evening which was delicious ), the beach was nice and clean, 2 minutes from the room and the entertaiment in the evening, ok, too. Nothing negative about the hotel, everybody was doing their best and we had a wonderful and sunny holiday!
