This lodge is one of the most relaxing places I have ever been. We have spent the last 3 nigths of our trip in this paradise. You have your own big bungalow with a veranda and a bathroom which is unique. The lodge is surrounded by mangroves (private area of the lodge) and a river. It is possible to rent... More

It would have been the obvious choice after my arrival in Sri Lanka to start my adventure at one of the many beaches but somehow I felt I wanted to start my trip in a much more special way. After some research I found Ging Oya lodge, on the banks of the Ging River. Located on a 6 acre plot... More

That was our last two days in Sri Lanka after one month traveling all around and this is the only guest house where we never felt welcome. Hosts should learn from Sri lankian how to receive guests. Very cold reception and poor breakfast. Wifi cut as from 10 am (time of check out) because we were told that we were... More

We are regular visitors to this area of Sri Lanka but we came across Ging Oya purely by accident whilst out walking one morning. We had this place recommended to us by Martin the owner of Lords restaurant in nearby Negombo and after spotting the sign on the gate we decided to have a look around.Access is by intercom and then... We started our holiday in Ging Oya Lodge and finished there too. The hotel is in a lovely spot on the canal, the accommodation is excellent and the hosts Miriam & Leo were lovely. The food was delicious, freshly cooked every day by Leo. There is a lovely pool to swim in and the area is excellent for cycling. We... More

Ging Oya was our treat at the end of three weeks travelling in Sri Lanka and it didnt disappoint! The rooms are spacious and tasteful with amazing semi outdoor bathrooms and a terrace with views of the beautiful grounds and the river. There is a lovely pool area and lots of other little areas to sit and relax. The food... More

Ging Oya is like a home from home for me, even though I last visited in 2011 I immediately knew this was where I was headed after some shocking personal news. Made a very late booking and arrived three days later. Purposely keeping my news private so as not to 'stain' my trip both Leo and Myrjam were as always,... More

What an amazing find. calm, tranquil, beautiful, full of nature, wonderful food and great hosts. In a lovely little village near the sea, but still only 25 minutes from the airport. The lodge is on a river and you can take fascinating bird watching trips right from the lodges own jetty. Modeled on an African hunting lodge, Ging Oya is... More

This is a small place with I think only around 8 bungalows. Bungalows themselves are spacious with a big bed and a seating area inside and outside. Pool is big and nice (although we were there in hot season and it was the hottest pool I have ever swam in!). We borrowed the canoe and paddled out to the ocean.... More

Spent 3 nights here and was so pleased with everything! The warm welcome from Maryiam and Leo was wonderful after a long flight. The lodge and its surroundings are scrupulously clean. Great food. Being surrounded by nature was so relaxing and only a short tuk tuk ride to Negombo if needed. Fabulous pool area. A trip down the river was... More
