We started our holiday in Ging Oya Lodge and finished there too. The hotel is in a lovely spot on the canal, the accommodation is excellent and the hosts Miriam & Leo were lovely. The food was delicious, freshly cooked every day by Leo. There is a lovely pool to swim in and the area is excellent for cycling. We... More

Ging Oya was our treat at the end of three weeks travelling in Sri Lanka and it didnt disappoint! The rooms are spacious and tasteful with amazing semi outdoor bathrooms and a terrace with views of the beautiful grounds and the river. There is a lovely pool area and lots of other little areas to sit and relax. The food... More

Ging Oya is like a home from home for me, even though I last visited in 2011 I immediately knew this was where I was headed after some shocking personal news. Made a very late booking and arrived three days later. Purposely keeping my news private so as not to 'stain' my trip both Leo and Myrjam were as always,... More

What an amazing find. calm, tranquil, beautiful, full of nature, wonderful food and great hosts. In a lovely little village near the sea, but still only 25 minutes from the airport. The lodge is on a river and you can take fascinating bird watching trips right from the lodges own jetty. Modeled on an African hunting lodge, Ging Oya is... More

This is a small place with I think only around 8 bungalows. Bungalows themselves are spacious with a big bed and a seating area inside and outside. Pool is big and nice (although we were there in hot season and it was the hottest pool I have ever swam in!). We borrowed the canoe and paddled out to the ocean.... More

Spent 3 nights here and was so pleased with everything! The warm welcome from Maryiam and Leo was wonderful after a long flight. The lodge and its surroundings are scrupulously clean. Great food. Being surrounded by nature was so relaxing and only a short tuk tuk ride to Negombo if needed. Fabulous pool area. A trip down the river was... More

Found this place by accident and stayed just 2 nights. Miriam and Leo created magical place with wonderful atmosphere. Number one on our list of places we stayed in Sri Lanka. Kayaking to the ocean is a must do. Also there is no point in eating out as Leo is a great cook.

Ging Oya Lodge is not a hotel and nor is it a resort. It consists of a relatively few small cottages, each accommodating 2/3 people, spread across a secluded piece of land on the edge of a river. At the centre of the site is an airy and high-roofed dining area and admin facility adjacent to an excellent swimming pool.... More

Sad that we have only a couple of days left here, we have had a great holiday. The Lodge is beautiful and peaceful, pure contrast to the hustle of the streets of Negombo. The pool is lovely and the grounds a delight. Our hosts have been brilliant, very helpful and accommodating. I highly recommend staying here. We have had exceptionally... More

I was in Ging Oya Lodge during a Yoga retreat for a week. Miriam and Leo do a great job! The lodge reminds a lot of typical safari / landside lodges in Africa. Prices are decent & fair. Food is also good. Can recommend this for everyone.
