Great location, right in front of the sea, a beautiful view of boats that dock right in front of the hotel and fishermen arriving from the sea at sunset, while relaxing in the pool that is also totally in front of the sea. The Manager who is also the Chief of the hotels

Thank you Cmuchanga for taking your time to write us a review! And thank you for your kind words regarding our food and the garden. Yes we do have the best spot on Ibo just in the mangrove bay, and that add to the overall experience. The room you stayed in is not one of our best, and I am doing the utmost to convince the owner to let us solve this issue. Hopefully this will be solved by the next time you arrive Ibo. Once again, thank you and hope to see you in the future.

The aimiable and helpful Swedish manager-chef Chris offers a warm welcome, helpful info and, best of all, wonderful cordon-blue lunches and dinners on a terrace overlooking the sea. The owner, a terse Swiss who ignores his guests, offers rooms of varying quality. MIne had

Thank you Irlantilainen for your kind words regarding our staff and food! It was a pleasure having you staying with us, you are a true globetrotter! Hopefully the rooms will have an upgrade during the coming year. The hot water is back in "your room" after we installed a new water heater. Best regards from Ibo and hope to see you again. Kiitos paljon

Fantastic place in a nicely renovated old house on Ibo’s beach front. Very pleasant garden, terrasse, pool and several small corners to relax. Chris is a caring host and a great cook (but you have to order your dinner at 14:00 at the latest to let him time to prepare it well).

Thank you Dimitri P, for taking your time to share your experience with future travelers visiting Ibo and Quirimbas. We are blessed with a lot of nice relaxed guests, just like you, making our work a pure treat. We are in the middle of nowhere, in the end of the world and that makes a lot of extra challenges and planning. Ibo is the perfect spot if you want to get off the beaten track, wind down and get cured from western consumerism! Thank you for choosing Cinco Portas during your stay in Quirimbas. The staff is saying hello to you. Once more, thank you for your kind words.

The Best setting on Ibo with the most amazing menu - essential to book the food you require as Ibo is very small and procurement of food is required. The views of the ocean are absolutely great when you are sipping on a cocktail.

Thank you Bradley G for your review and for taking your time to share your experience with future clients. We are a small rustic hotel and restaurant in the "middle of nowhere" and we put a lot of effort and work into improvements and to serve tasty food. Welcome back to Ibo and to Cinco Portas in the future.

Stayed there for a few nights due to work. Staff and service are excellent, always making sure that you have everything you need. The breakfast starts with a freshly made coffee in front of the beach, then the buffet is very good! Rooms are a bit rustic, but super comfy, with

Thank you very much Helena, for taking your time to share your experience with future visitors to Ibo and Quirimbas. Yes, I fully agree, Cinco Portas is rustic, still with room for improvements, a lot of improvements, and we are fully committed to reach there one day. I still feel guilty that I wasn't cooking for you every evening, but I had to leave for the big city of Pemba for some shopping, it happens 3 times per year! Although we have very capable people in the kitchen, so when I have to leave, and that only happens in low season, I know that the food will still be of the same quality. Amina, our head chef has been at Cinco Portas for 16 years and is without any doubt one of the best chefs in the country! Without her I will close down the kitchen, simple as that! You can always pop by for an expresso or glass of wine, as we are so close to the rest of the world, hmm? Once again, thanks for trusting us and staying with us, IT, Ana, Daniel and the rest of the team says hello as well.

All aspects of life depends on the tides on Ibo, so do the swimming. The tides changes time every day. When you know your dates I can tell you exactly when we have low tide and high tide. Ibo as such doesn't have good beaches, but we have Quirimbas and foremost Matemo Island with the best beach you can find in Mozambique. We have tours going there any day. Going to Matemo is not tide dependant. All for now Chris

How do we go from Pemba Airport to Cinco Portas? We will be in a group of 8. How much will it cost? Tx
Hello Pedro, thank you for your interest in Quirimbas, Ibo & Cinco Portas! You can go directly by air from Pemba Airport to Ibo, it costs 245 USD per person, single fare and takes 23 minutes. Or we can pick you up with our private 4x4 transfer bringing you to Tandanhangue. In Tandanhangue our boat will be waiting for you bringing you directly to Cinco Portas. Depending on time of the year the transfer takes 3-4 hours plus 45 minutes by boat. Normally our car takes 4-5 people to a cost of 200 USD single fare, including the boat. For 6-8 people the cost is 500 USD single fare. Note that you can only cross over to Ibo during high tide and during daytime!!! This means that the journey has to be planned carefully or you might end up stranded in Tandanhangue without any hotel or restaurant available! To be able to tell if it is possible to reach Ibo the day of your arrival please send me a mail with the date and arrival time, and I will sort it out for you. Hope to see you soon Best regards Chris Cinco Portas

I would like to book in cinco portas for two, from 11 to 14 of august... do you have availabilities? Thank you
Sorry, we are more or less fully booked, August is peak season on Ibo. Only room available is our backpacker room (Traditional room, 55 USD, incl breakfast) for the 11th and 12th. Although it is very likely that there can be an opening a bit later if anyone is cancelling. You can also try the brand new Ulani Lodge down the road from Cinco Portas with very nice rooms, Best regards from Ibo and Cinco Portas Chris
