Detailed Reviews
This hotel has surpassed any and all expectations I ever had for a 2 star hotel. While it started out a little rocky- we were placed in a tiny room (though comfortable) that would’ve been sufficient for a single person to stay in. However, the next day we were moved to a much bigger and more comfortable room. Also, we didn’t mention we had a brand new baby- so this was not their fault. From that point forward everything the staff did was phenomenal. From the owner introducing himself and ensuring we were comfortable, to the house keeper being extremely sweet and friendly. Thank you Hotel Dakota for a rewarding experience. I will only be staying here when I come back!

Room was clean. Towels were dark green rather than white so hadn’t been bleached. Staff was friendly. Setting was spectacular. Price was reasonable. Dog friendly which is always a plus! I would stay here again.

This is a nice hotel and the check in was also very good. The gentleman at the desk was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and clean. A good place to stay in this remote area of western North Dakota.

+1
The room is small, but okay. The recliner was comfy and there was a fridge and a 700 watt microwave. Plus a counter in lieu of a desk, desk chair was comfy. Bathroom was also tiny, but clean. Can’t comment on breakfast, because we didn’t have it! The bed was extremely comfortable! The air conditioner was soothingly noisy. So that’s the good stuff - oh, plus the bottles of water and crackers in the room.
However…why the hotel called several times between 7:30 and 7:45, to see if we were still coming, was both puzzling and annoying. We were in the dark in an h familiar place and had trouble even finding the place! Then the clerk said he had given us a second floor room - no elevator! With luggage and a cooler and a heavy camera bag, we asked for a first floor room. He wasn’t happy and CHARGED US AN EXTRA $10 FOR A FIRST FLOOR ROOM!!! Outrageous for a minimal room. We will definitely not be back!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write us review and letting us know the Pro's and Con's of your visit. My apologies for the phone calls, At the time of your stay we had very little rooms left and If it is after the check in time we do call to confirm that our guest is still coming. As for the price difference to get on the bottom floor we had to put you in a king room which is a $10.00 difference. Please give me a call at you convenience to discuss your concerns. We strive to give a 5 star stay to all our guest. 701-794-5843 Thank you Angie

I have stayed all over the US from 4 star to slot less. What makes a great stay, that a place can meet my needs. The rooms are clean and minimal. They add a little extra touches, great breakfast, air conditioner, and tons of plugs to meet your electrical needs. They also offer guest is a way to heat and toast your own meals, with plates, napkins, and plastic ware to use. They also went and got me a blow drier (forgot I needed it in ND). They allowed my bank to confirm my payment after losing my wallet. Brought extra complimentary water and fixed my key card. All of this was done with a smile, warm welcoming conversation. The beds were so comfortable and the sheets were extremely soft. I loved my stay and the treatment.

This is an excellent place to stay. The place is very clean and the staff is amazing. I spend a lot of time away from home, the staff at Barons went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. Whether it was saving food for me to have when I got in at late hours or sitting and visiting with me at breakfast time. Deb, Pat, Nodeen, Zoe, Sam, and Jenny I would like to thank you for the hospitality you showed me.
Thank you again

I recently visited this hotel in Killdeer, ND. The staff mentioned they had reopened the hotel doors earlier in the month and have new management in place. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast staff went above and beyond and cooked my eggs to my liking. I thought that was a nice touch. The rooms were clean and cozy. It had just what i needed. They went above and beyond to make sure my stay was comfortable. It is nice they have outlets outside that actually work to plug vehicles into when weather is cold. I will stay here again when coming to killdeer.
