Detailed Reviews
This place is a diamond in the rough. Had last minute travel plan changes and ended up booking here at the Mountain View Hotel on Expedia. I’ve been through Killdeer many times and have stayed down the road at the Cobblestone before. Somehow, I missed this gem.
It reminds me of going to grandmas house as a kid. The decorations are rustic and cozy along with the rooms.
I was greeted by the friendliest of staff, who happily assisted me with my every need (including accidentally deactivating my room key and forgetting to pack toothpaste).
Complimentary bottled water and popcorn in the rooms are always a plus. They also provide free coffee and cookies in the entry lounge.
Breakfast begins at 5 AM for us early risers and the walls are nice and thick so you can get to bed early sleep well!
Easy access to HWY22 and other nearby main highways.
If you find yourself needing a place to stay in Killdeer, ND, I would highly suggest staying here at the Mountain View Hotel!

This hotel was for one night on our 69-night motorcycle cross-country trip. We arrived very tired after an unexpectedly hard ride. Our reservation was at their “sister” property but was not going to meet our specific needs. The manager (I sorry that I didn’t get his name) came to us when he saw me talking outside to my husband and asked what he could do to make the situation better. After determining what we were hoping for, he then offered to call the other property and get us a large king room with a brand new fitness center in the same lot (complimentary). This changed the whole experience for us and gave us what we needed to recharge before the next day’s ride. His wife, Angie, could not have been more welcoming. They were truly good samaritans! We have found that type of caring to be a rare quality. We recommend this hotel based on that as well as their cleanliness and comfort!

If you're looking for all the bells and whistles, this is not for you. However, if you want efficient, friendly service, clean rooms, great breakfast and oh so quiet, it is just the place.
The staff is kind, friendly and accommodating. The breakfast ends at 8 but the mgr Cindy and her husband Jose, left it open until we got there about 820. The biscuits and gravy are the best. The biscuits are always soft and fresh. We were there for 8 nights so we got 1 night free. We also got passes for the aquatic center that's across the street.
This is a small motel that caters to oil workers but we never heard anyone in the halls, nor did we ever hear other room doors being shut.
Clean, quiet, friendly...I can't say enough about this place.

I held off to write a review until my third extended stay visit because the staff is so nice and I felt bad saying anything negative. During my first two stays housekeeping didn’t come in once during that 10 day period and cleanliness was below average; they made some staff changes so the most recent stay was much better. My main issue is they advertise kitchenette, but the small sink, counter, lack of lighting, and mini fridge don’t get the job done. Due to health reasons I need to actually cook and make healthy meals, and because the freezer is hardly big enough for anything, a bunch of my food went bad and had to be tossed out. Also, nothing is provided (utensils, basic cook wear) so it’s a lot of extra stuff to pack. Lastly, the internet is horrible. Unless the router is reset every few hours it doesn’t work, so I’d have to use my phone as a hotspot or call the front desk all the time. The breakfast is nice and I enjoyed the free wellness center passes, but it’s just not worth it and in the future I’d rather stay in Dickinson with actual kitchenettes or on the job site.

This place is updated with microwave, mini-fridge and coffee. Decent, typical wall AC/heat unit. Very friendly staff. Very quiet on a Sunday night with oil workers likely having to wake up very early. Friendly, decent breakfast though staff struggled to keep up, they let you know food was coming and they were ready to serve, but no bacon on our morning. Hotel would provide passes to the gym across the street that looked decent (closed on Sundays).
Some downsides is there was no easy plug around the bed to charge phones. Wifi was incredibly slow, like dial up slow or worse, to the point of being almost useless. We had a problem with the TV remote only changing channels and everything else having to be controlled on the TV, but we were only there one night, so we didn't check further.

very unfriendly managers. kind of dirty. old heating systems. not enough hot water for bathing not much to mention about their stale food. sheets were not clean nor was the pillows . the carpet had a smell of dirty socks . there just is or was anything good about the place. I should have saved my $125.00 plus tax and slept in my rig.

We have been staying at the Mountain View Hotel in Killdeer, ND for years and the clean rooms, friendly staff, and great rates keep us coming back. We are in the area often for work and we stay at the Mountain View Hotel any time possible. A couple days ago we were out of briquettes to cook our dinner on the grill and it was late enough that all the local stores were closed. It wasn't a problem as the manager just gave us enough briquettes and lighter fluid to get us by until stores opened the next day. And now today we needed to check out a day early due to a change in work plans and the managers simply let us slide, not charging us for the early checkout. We will be back next week and will be staying at the Mountain View.

I wanted to Write a few things about this Hotel. Not Because anyone aske me to, But I felt Obligated to write something because of the Hospitality that was given to me from the mome t I walked in the Door, And This was at 3am... The Owners and the Staff Are amazingly Friendly and they Make you Feel At home away from home.. And to me this Means a lot.... If you are looking for a good Nights Rest with a clean Room and Comfortable Beds and on top with the "At home Feel" this is the Place for you.. There are Vending Machines on Site, Food For Purchase, A decent Breakfast made Every Morning, and Free Gym Passes To the Huge Gym Right Next Door... So If you are in town And Decide you need a room for the night or the week.. Stop In and Say Hello... You won't Regret It...

I stayed here for two weeks to start my first hitch in the oilfields of North Dakota. The facilities are nice for a small oil town but what really makes this place SPARKLE are the people. From the owner (Todd Morse, from Fargo) to the onsite managers Bill and Lynnette Pomerville and their daughter Kayla, I was made to feel like family from the first minute I set foot on the property.
The hot breakfast (sausage patties, biscuits and hearty sausage gravy) served every morning truly hits the spot for a country boy like me. Plus the 24-hour coffee pot and freshly-baked chocolate chip cookies put out every evening make guests feel like much more than just an account number in the hotel's reservation system.
The bed linens are super soft, the beds are comfortable and the bath towels are softer than those commonly found at more much expensive national chains (think Holiday, Comfort, etc.).
You can't go wrong here if you're staying in Killdeer.
