Rate includes hot breakfast, complimentary wine and cheese reception in the evenings, cookies and milk at bedtime. The Brookstown Inn was built in 1837. The Inn has the charm and ambiance of old-world architecture with all the conveniences of a modern conference facility. Its hallmarks of exposed brick walls and wooden beams enhance its Early American decor and help you escape to the charm of yesteryear. We are within a short walk of the restored 1766 Moravian village of Old Salem and convenient to the Winston-Salem business district, North Carolina School of the Arts, the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Arts (SECCA), Winston Salem State University, Wake Forest University, and Salem College. The property is also only a short distance from Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and Forsyth Memorial Hospital.

This place is a little gem. You get to step back in time...but with modern amenities. The staff was welcoming and wonderful and we even met the hotel cat, Sally. We would absolutely stay here again.

For our one-night stay, I was debating between this hotel and the Kimpton in town. I chose this one for the unique historical character and amenities such as the happy hour and breakfast. Although our stay was good, in hindsight, I wish I'd gone the other way. The room was spacious, but lacked a certain... ambience? The exposed brick walls were unique, but the furniture and especially the bed were extremely old and outdated. I'm someone who likes a softer mattress, but this one lacked any support whatsoever. I slept terribly and woke up with a sore back. Also, our King suite overlooked a parking lot that had bright, glaring security lights on all night (thank goodness for my sleep mask). The wine reception was in a basement room with no windows. We appreciated the free wine and cheese/crackers, but the quality was poor. Sort of the same vibe at breakfast (a serve-yourself buffet), but the food was a tad better. I will say that the service was top notch and the hotel felt almost overstaffed, which is unheard of in a post-covid world! With a modern makeover and lighting overhaul, this could be much better stay. As it stands, it feels a bit like visiting your Grandma's house.

Great breakfast. Eating areas were very quaint and comfortable. Milk and home made cookies were a nice touch and really good. Bed was extremely comfortable. Bathroom was very clean but would have preferred a walk in shower instead of a garden tub. Front desk employees were very friendly and helpful. Check in and out was fast and easy. We ate at an Italian restaurant right across the street. The chicken cacciatore was the best we have ever had. My wife and I visited Old Town Salem and would recommend staying at The Brookstown Inn for a nice trip

Super comfortable, not overcrowded, easily accessible, delicious food, and close to Old Salem--it was pleasant to stand in the lobby and read about the history of the mill, the family, and the workers. Even within the rooms, you could look around and notice the structure of the mill, yet they did a wonderful job turning it into a place to stay and relax.

It was a overnight stay on the way home. The venue was so beautiful! Our room was clean and roomy. The website pictures are accurate. We visited the lounge for happy hour and got a free beer/crackers. The free full breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend. We will come back and book Brookstown to visit our family.

In my travels, I'm not a long distance driver. So, I stop midway. A few years ago I found Winston-Salem, and in exploring, I found this gem, Brookstown Inn. It's now maybe 2-years later, and always enjoy my stay. Staff very friendly, rooms clean and have character, great breakfast in morning, and can't forget about the Resident Cat.

Highly recommend- you won’t be disappointed. We had a temperature problem in our room and they upgraded us to an incredible suite! Impressive service. Evening served wine/cheese and excellent Italian restaurant across the street. Convenient location to Old Salem and really anything in W-S.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful! The hotel was very nicely decorated and had a mini museum in the entryway regarding the history of the mill. The hotel was very quiet and there is a good bakery and coffee shops nearby. The room was very nice, but I couldn't position the TV to view it very well. Also, there was a bit of clanking noise in the pipes or something until around 12. It may have been someone using water or the elevator? But after that all was quiet all night even though I was next to the elevator. I would highly recommend this hotel overall!

Thank you for staying with us! We appreciate you taking the time to write a review. I apologize for the loud noise. It may have been the elevator or possibly the piping from someone using water? I'll have maintenance investigate this issue. Otherwise, it sounds like you had a nice time and this didn't keep you up. We all wish you well and I hope you have a terrific rest of your day!
