I was visiting my daughter in Winston-Salem and I wanted to stay somewhere comfortable for me. I'm very picky when it comes to staying places that are not my home. The reviews I read on this place were amazing so we decided to stay there. The Brookstown was very easy to find and as soon as I walked in I knew the experience was going to be different. People were so friendly and everything looked clean and orderly. We were told about a wine and cheese hour in the afternoon as well as cookies and milk at bedtime but didn't really have the time to do either because of our short stay. It was wonderful to know that those amenities were available to everyone. Our room was large and completely clean. We had a brick wall on one wall and I wish I could have taken pictures of it but I didn't and I regret that now cuz I could have posted them here. Everything was just really nice. I would say the only drawback was that the bed was slightly softer than what I was used to but I can't really complain about that because everything else was perfection. We also didn't have breakfast but there is a complimentary breakfast there so the next time I stay there I will definitely try it. I highly recommend this establishment. It was very comfortable and not overly pricey for what you got.…
The facility was not only quaint but sparkling clean. The staff was attentive and most helpful. We were traveling from out of state to a wedding in Winston Salem. I was intrigued having read about the inn while researching the area and elected to spend one night before continuing on. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Greeted by a cat on arrival. Wine and charcuterie served in the lobby after checking in (around 6 pm). Milk and cookies before bed. Breakfast buffet upon waking up. Extra soft beds. Super friendly staff. Clean and spacious room (and bathroom). What else can you ask for when traveling? Definitely recommend this place!
Though we only stayed one night, we will definitely be back! From the minute we pulled in, we were thrilled with our decision to stay here. Beautiful historic building, helpful front desk, large, spacious and fully equipped room. It was a step back in time and a museum visit all wrapped into a lovely little visit.
This is a super cool historic hotel in downtown Winston Salem. We had a Queen suite which was unique and very spacious. We only stayed one night. The free breakfast was incredible and had hot eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy, bagels, cereal, fruit, coffee, milk, juice & more! The courtyard was gorgeous! The rooms are dated (which you expect with an historic hotel) but clean. Staff was friendly and accommodating! They have milk and cookies at night 8-9pm and wine and cheese between 6-7pm. A great experience for my husband’s birthday
Highly recommend, whether for a stay or for hosting an event! This is the second stay for us, and the first for hosting our book signing event (Romance in the Carolinas). The staff are amazing and the rooms incredible! We look forward to more stays in the future as well as hosting our next event!
This is a return visit to the Brookstown Inn. Our room was very nice, located in H wing. The front desk was very cordial and helpful they get a 5). The hot breakfast included eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy. Any many other cold selections. The evening wine and cheese lacked variety that was served pre-pandemic; hosts were great. The grounds could use some cleaning and reported our ac vent clearly needed cleaning. The desk host followed up with us the next day; unfortunately it was not attended to by maintenance during our 2 day stay. Hopefully, it was cleaned before the next guests. We will return, it is still a lovely place to stay with good amenities and unique buildings. The staff made the stay most enjoyable.
Extremely clean venue with an incredibly helpful and polite staff and charming atmosphere with so much to look at. There was lots of space in the room with comfy beds and chairs. Wonderful hot breakfast. Loved the wine and cheese in the evening. We stayed one night here on two separate occasions in two different rooms and we loved it.
This was my first stay and was very impressed. Converted from an old cotton mill, Brookstown Inn does not disappoint. From the kind greeting, early check-in, wine & cheese, and milk & cookies Brookstown Inn was exceptional. The buffet style breakfast will rival any restaurant. Plenty of great restaurants within walking distance and is less than a mile from downtown and the Winston Salem Bash minor league baseball stadium.
I had the pleasure of staying here for four days during my conference downtown. The staff was super helpful and polite. The hotel itself is one of the coolest places I've stayed if you are into history and folklore. Breakfast in the morning, wine in evening, milk and cookies before bed and possibly and visit from a wondering ghost. Who could go wrong. Thank you and I hope to stay there again on future visits to Winston-Salem.
