Recommend if you want an amazing experience of enjoying the serenity of the setting coupled with a top class staff, the Graylyn Estate is an escape from the madness of Covid. From the meeting space we used to the top class meals served, your every need was met quickly by the team at the Graylyn Estate. The architecture is gorgeous and the grounds offer you a visual heaven.
Another wonderful stay at Graylyn. Highest quality service in a comfortable and tranquil setting. The staff is attentive and the grounds and facility are amazing. We look forward to our return. Perfection!
I never go on vacation without including one of those nights spent here! I have been staying here on vacation since 2012! Covid put a temporary delay in my return, but this recent stay proved that nothing changed! The people at Graylyn are the sweetest and most helpful people you may ever find :-)!!! The property is beautiful and breathtaking.
Following a day of driving on the blue ridge parkway we were anxious to check in to the Graylyn. The beauty of the grounds and lobby didn’t disappoint. Our arrival in our room (217) however did. Having booked a second floor antique room, we were surprised by its size, decor and considerable lack of appointments. The bathroom was outdated and reminiscent of a 1960s dorm, with plumbing caps hanging off the walls and a cracked countertop. Upon calling the front desk we were assured that we were in the correct room category. Shortly after arrival we went to the front desk to ask questions about dinner and where in the hotel we could find a cocktail. While waiting in line we were approached by hotel staff and coldly asked if we were actually guests. I was floored, having never been approached so rudely by a member of hotel staff. Upon recovering, we inquired where we could find a cocktail and if it was possible to have room service deliver food to the patio rather than sit inside for dinner (due to Covid.) He shared that he would find out and let us know. The bartender was chilly at best and seemed bothered that we were the reason he had to stand up and wait on someone vs watching the basketball game. After spending time walking the grounds we returned to the front desk to find out the answer to our question. We were told that it was a possibility and to place an order from our room using the menu that was part of the welcome material and have it delivered to the patio. Having completed dressing for dinner, we called back to the front desk to place our order. We inquired what the fish of the day was and were told salmon... no description of accompaniments or preparation. We were then told we had the wrong menu in our room. Finally, the service turned and the front desk shared that a staff member would take our order on the patio. Damien K. waited on us and was the only bright spot in our entire interaction with hotel staff. Though we wondered if he was a regular member of the waitstaff, he provided wonderful and personal service. The food for dinner included dry and rubbery mozzarella on the top layer of the caprese salad and overcooked salmon. The vegetarian gnocchi however, was very well prepared. I expected considerably more from this property, which is far from four star, both in the quality of our room and hospitality, but Damien accommodating our desire to eat outside saved our stay... if you are booking this property, avoid room 217.…
Extremely beautiful property and scenery on top of a great room and service. If you want to feel very very special then this is the place for you. The Graylyn offers so much and its also very close to Reynolda which is another great area! This stay is so unique and will be like nothing you have experienced before. It feels like you are transported to a new world and an old time.
