Wow, it was great, very spacious and clean. Had the old time look, which is something that they have kept up and...

The owners, Jim and Mary, go above and beyond the norm to make you feel at home. Everything about the place has the personal touches we like to see when we travel. Whether you're in the Smokey Mountains for the awesome motorcycle roads(our trip this time), the train ride in Bryson City(last year) or trying to get rich at the...

I was traveling west to east through North Carolina with my wife and granddaughter. I had planned to bypass this area of North Carolina but side trips and shopping wore me down as the day grew shorter. A quick look at the GPS for nearby hotels told me that Gear Head Inn was near. Very nice small locally owned Motel. Clean, comfortable and quiet, but could use some updating. Owners very friendly and responsive. Located close to all the attractions near Cherokee. Rates are generally cheaper than the local Chains.

Our girls weekend changed in route so we had to regroup on the fly. We found this hotel on line. Mary & Jim had one room left and they held it for us till we got there. By that time we were soaking wet but we settled in and waited out the rain. When we came back later that evening...

Mary and Jim were excellent hosts. Direction to places, towels to wipe off the dew in the morning, camp fires in the evening. Rooms were large and clean. Had all the amenities you would need. Excellent place to room and leave on the bike each day. If you are planning a trip to the Smokey Mts., I would highly recommend Gear...
