Meadowsweet is an 1895 farmhouse that has been lovingly restored and updated. The grounds include multiple gardens, many places to sit and meditate, a mountain stream and pond. We are in process of building a walking trail on the property across the road.Garden room has a double bed, sitting, books to peruse and TV to view dud's. The pioneer room is a mini-suite with queen bed.Cable or DVD is available. Rose Room has queen bed and cable TV. All of the house is available for guests to use. There are two front porches and a gazebo as well to use as weather permits. We are 1/4 mile from a lovely golf course and 3 miles from the quaint town of West Jefferson. Coffee, tea or chocolate and biscotti is available early. Chocolate and aperitif is available in all rooms.

Best booking in a whim we have ever done!!! We stayed in the Wizard of Oz cabin and couldn’t have had a better experience. The decor was spot on, clean, and very cozy.

The walking g trail is Wizard of Oz themed and very cute. The stream is gorgeous and the dogs loved playing in the water.

Everywhere you look there are flowers and plants. Small details appear at every turn that let you know the owners care and are proud of their little Inn.

No, this is not a 5 star hotel. There is a full size futon and not a pillow top king size bed. There is no way to use a hair dryer. There is no kitchen, per se. The shower is outside and if you can’t figure out the water heater - it’s absolutely Arctic!

However, we had the best time playing monopoly on the little wrap around porch until late at night watching fireflies dance. The stars are incredible and our Al fresco dinner couldn’t have tasted more delicious. The futon was perfect for snuggles as we drifted off to sleep to the sound of wildlife and crickets. Even in July, it was a little chilly with the windows open, but the cabin was stocked with plenty of blankets. In the morning, Campfire percolator coffee, scrambled eggs and campfire biscuits enjoyed as the sun shone over the treetops. A cool shower (the water heater does work!) in the open air was beyond relaxing.

The hosts were exceptional! We walked the property and fed the fish. Heard about the history of the house and area. I cannot say enough amazing things about this little gem of a place to stay.

Unplug, unwind, and enjoy. Perfection.

There is a reason for all the accolades for this B&B – it is a wonderful place to stay. Relaxing and quaint, this place is in rural northwestern North Carolina, in the mountains. The owners, Debbie and Ken, are gracious hosts who are great conversationalists. Each morning, Debbie cooked a delicious breakfast--many of the foods are local, and the jams from their garden and trees (pears). They have both lived interesting lives, so there was much to talk about, to hear of their life adventures. The B&B is as comfortable as returning home to your grandparents’ house, as there is a settled feeling to being there. It is very clean. There are two large porches (main floor and second floor), which were relaxing, as they overlooked the countryside. We rented three rooms—all reasonably priced. Everyone enjoyed their room. It was such a great experience – one of the best B&Bs I’ve ever stayed at. We hated leaving, but we plan to return.

This is a beautiful B&B with interesting rooms and lovely common areas and grounds. There is a garden, orchard, numerous places to congregate outside and beautiful views everywhere.

The hostess, Debra is very accommodating and made the experience even more fun. I would highly recommend this location to anyone visiting the area.

Great location, beautiful home, hospitable owners, great breakfast, comfy room, beautiful scenery... Thank you to Debra and Ken for a wonderful visit! Inn is located just out of town so you can enjoy the beautiful views of the mountains, Christmas tree farms, and nature without being too far from other attractions. Inn is filled with family antiques and memorabilia...great for history nerds like me! Breakfasts are included and delicious. We hiked Mt Jefferson and visited other trails along the parkway for a nice midweek escape!

Hosts Debra and Ken accommodated a 42-person family reunion with grace and charm. Food and accommodations are excellent. Charm abounds, both indoors and outdoors. Watch the fish jump in the pond. Relax by the stream. Walk the flower and vegetable gardens. Everywhere you look, you see something beautiful. If if could move in, I would.
While this is an honest review, for full disclosure, please know I am related to Debra and Ken.

This little Inn was a big disappointment for several reasons. First, the Inn has no air conditioning in the rooms, so do not come in the summer months. Secondly, our room was very small and in the morning there was water dripping from the ceiling in both the bedroom & bathroom. Third, breakfast was not anything like I would expect at a bed & breakfast inn. Cold cereal, some bagels, homemade bread, orange juice & coffee. That's it.

It was $100 per night with a two night minimum on the weekend and it's not worth it. I will not ever stay here or let anyone I know stay here.

It is unfortunate that this July 4th was one of the hottest on record. Meadowsweet does not have air conditioning and rarly needs it. We do have lots of fans and the good new is, its in the mountains and always cools at night. We had a water leak that was hard to detect and we thought we had repaired it. We felt very badly about this and it is certainly repaired now. It is a fact of any house or business that things happen like this. We would have been happy to offer a discount to the customer because of the inconvenience. We do strive to regularly miantain our Inn and serve our customers well. We are sorry that it was an unhappy stay Meadowsweet Gardens Inn

Having stayed in many B&Bs across the country and in Europe, we have lots of context to compare. Meadowsweet Gardens Inn certainly deserves to rate among the best! The rooms are comfortable. The host, Ken, was friendly and very interesting (Deb was out of town) and prepared an excellent breakfast each morning of our stay. The house itself is fun to explore and fully available to the guests. But the best thing about this lovely Inn is outside. The place is literally surrounded by gorgeous gardens, inviting sitting areas, and great views. We already look forward to a return visit.

We are building our retirement home in the area and decided to spend a night here while checking on the house progress. Deb and Ken were very welcoming, as well as Greystone the cat! We loved the history of the Inn, the gardens, the breakfast the whimsical yard art, plus tips on places to visit in the area! We cannot wait to move to Ashe county!

This was our second time staying at Meadowsweet Gardens. The first time around we found it by chance. This time by choice! Wouldn't stay anywhere else while visiting the artsy NC mountain town of West Jefferson! Deb & Ken make us feel like family and their B&B is as cozy as they come. Our favorite is the Rose Room. Romantic and cozy! Our breakfast was freshly cooked with wholesome ingredients and the special touch of a fellow foodie. Kind of a bread pudding casserole with fresh stewed apples from their trees and fresh whipping cream..THE YUM! And yummy Chicken sausage with a little kick. Can't wait till breakfast😊Come visit it won't dissapoint...Also surround by serene gardens..a pond...porches..and plenty of serenity. Also Deb and Ken are a delight just to chat with. It kinda feels like family!
