Jeffrey and Breanna the innkeeper are amazing. Attentive without being overbearing and a wealth of information on the area. The inn is funky and cool. It is loaded with all types of whimsical items many from the innkeepers travels, it is cozy and comfortable. Our room was large and comfortable and clean. It it very close to downtown so getting out and about was easy. The breakfast was cooked to order, excellent and filling. This is not a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hotel but a Mom & Pop classic B&B, with details personalized to make you feel like you are staying at a friend’s place. The location is minutes from the BR Parkway, after 45 years the neighborhood has built up around this ranch style hotel, but it’s nestled in a beautiful valley with a roaring creek, fire pit, and the NC mountains make this place just relaxing and inviting. We will definitely go back on our next trip to the area. 👍👍

The pictures on the website do not accurately portray the actual condition of the lodge or rooms. The rooms are very old dated, thin towels and poorly equipped. The neighborhood that you drive through to reach the lodge is not good. The room was clean. The woman who owns the lodge is very pleasant. However, I would not return here on future visits to the area

Response from Jeffrey Delannoy, Owner at Grandview Lodge

Joan, We at the Grandview Lodge are disappointed that you didn't enjoy your one night stay here. We do not agree with you about the photos portraying an inaccurate picture of what our lodge offers. The lodge was built in 1865. We try to find a balance between a classic rustic style and an eclectic artsy style. We are not the Hilton, nor are we the W hotel. We are also a third of the price. We offer an affordable stay with a great "Farm to Table" breakfast and offer a safe sanctuary during these times of Covid 19, while most other hotels in the USA are not even offering breakfast. The neighborhood that you drive through is part of the old mill town that existed here for years... working class people, no crime. Our neighborhood consists of school teachers, police, sheriffs, and Western Carolina professors and the blue ridge parkway is in our back yard.

Hubby and I spent 2 nights here and enjoyed it tremendously. The history of the Lodge is incredible, and innkeepers Jeff & Natalie are hospitality experts. I travel a lot for business and when I travel with family, I want character, charm, and experience. Grandview exceeded our expectations, from start to finish. Notables: 1. Breakfast. WOW. Based upon our recommendation, another couple decided to not check out early because the breakfast was worth staying an extra hour. Upon our departure, we noted a nearby restaurant with a long queue in the parking lot and we appreciated Jeff’s culinary skills all the more. 2. There are 2 rooms located on the 2nd flr which are accessed with a narrow set of stairs. If accessibility is an issue, be sure to choose a room on the 1st flr. 3. Masks were present and guests wore them as well. We appreciated all of the extra steps for safety and sanitation. 4. Fridge. Our room didn’t have a fridge but you can ask to store items in a fridge for you. 5. Covered porch was a delight for breakfast, or simply enjoying the evening in a rocking chair. 6. Library/games were accessible to guests and there were some great selections available! 7. Downtown Waynesville was picturesque with great restaurant choices and some fun little shops, including Mast General Store. We especially loved Lake Junaluska, which was incredibly peaceful, with an abundance of beautiful swans, cute ducks, and a majestic eagle circling the lake in the morning. Not to be missed. Highly recommended!!!!

If you have had enough of ordinary motel experiences and want something better, this is it. Great hospitality, attention to details, and a world-class breakfast every day! Spent the evening around the firepit, and enjoyed friendly conversation with other travelers while social distancing. The lodge is in a residential setting and offers a wonderful alternative to the usual commercial feel. There are just a few rooms, so don't tell everyone about it, just your favorite friends.
