Very nice getaway in the smoky mountains. Far enough off the beaten path that there is peacefulness yet close enough that it is 10 minutes away from the nearest town. Has all the amenities of a travel park (power, water, and sewer) but in the setting of a national park campground. Friendly staff, and the owner has a great sense of humor! I highly recommend this campground to anyone who wants a getaway in the smoky mountains of western North Carolina. We will definitely be back.
We are fulltime RVers and have stayed at too many campgrounds to count. But this was definitely the best campground we have ever stayed at. We stayed here for nearly 6 weeks and had a wonderful experience. First of all, the campground itself is simply stunning. It is located just 2 miles off the Blue Ridge Parkway. The grounds, including all common areas, are meticulously taken care of and extremely clean. We had a site along the creek and absolutely loved it. It was spacious and we loved falling asleep to the sound of rushing water at night. **For families with kids: Kids can not play in the creek at the campsite, there is an area further down that is designated for this. (This is actually very helpful to have this rule/designation since the creek is pretty fast-moving at the area where the RV sites are.)** Secondly, the owners and workampers were wonderful and very accommodating during our stay. They are knowledgable about hikes and things to do in the area. The camp store is well-stocked. Make sure to bring your kiddos in for a free lollipop. :) Lastly, my husband really wanted me to add that the firewood they have for sale is the best we've ever purchased. Often times we find firewood at stores and campgrounds is not adequately dried out, but this firewood was and burned really well. 5 year old wants to add: "All the people at Moonshine Creek are really nice and we love the campground." We would (and already have) recommend it to others in a heartbeat!…
Best campground for a quiet mountain getaway. They have a huge bathhouse, all tile and granite countertops. Clean and nice, with laundry facilities. The creek goes right thru the middle of the campground so you can hear it and enjoy it day or night. Owners are great. This was our second year coming back to them, and it will not be our last trip here I'm sure. They closed Nov. 1st for the winter but will re-open in the spring. Great location between Waynesville and Sylva in the Balsam community at 3200' elevation cool and beautiful they a have rv sites, tent sites and camping cabins. Check it out , you won't be sorry.
An exceptionally beautiful campground and extremely gracious staff! We were thrilled with the ecofriendly design of the campground. The owners are extremely conscientious regarding the environmental impact on theirs or surrounding properties. We stayed in the campground’s “villa”, which is a two-bedroom, one-bath apartment with a living room and full kitchen. It also featured rocking chairs and had a private fire ring area accessed by way of a cute covered bridge. The apartment was super clean, too. 100% satisfied with our stay!
My husband and I had the opportunity to visit Moonshine Creek Campground, and we were not disappointed. Extremely relaxing, even with the rain. I think the one thing that set it off for us, was what I called the "Babbling Brook right by our campsite. We went up there to totally decompress, and that is what we did. I was also impressed by the bathroom facilities, extremely clean. Until next time, The Harris's Charlotte, NC
