So much to say about this lovely place. To Start; you get a first class check in experience. you are escorted to your Campsite and they don't leave you until your RV is backed in, and settled! This is our second trip here. The first trip was pure vacation and this trip is work-kamping. With Covid-19; I am working remote and we decided since we could work anywhere, why not go back to Moonshine Creek. I get excellent WIFI with AT&T. You can't say that for many remote , secluded and beautiful places like this. The Bathhouse is immaculate; I have stayed at 5 star resorts all over the world that are not as beautiful as their bathhouse. That matters to us ladies! We back up to the beautiful creek and listen to it day and night; so relaxing. Their environmental standards are supreme. The creek behind my site is crystal clear, we can see trout surfacing to catch insects. They have sanctuary spaces too that are peaceful and look like retreats we have seen in Turkey and Greece. They are working hard to keep the surroundings so natural and vibrant. We love the natural banks of greenery and the natural moss on the rocks to zero trash on the ground anywhere. Campers are made to feel like family as the Owners and their Staff are out and about checking in on us. A group had a little gathering at the Group gathering area near our site; the Owner Jim came by to tell us about it ahead and told us if there were any noise issues after 10pm to let him know. They really care about your experience to be peaceful and natural. (There were no issues!) Lastly I will repeat that the connectivity is great, so if you need a spot to get away to work remote in your RV for a while , come to Moonshine Creek. I am on video/zoom internet conference calls with The Netherlands, Denmark, India and all over Asia without any issues at all. My Colleagues are suprised to see me on video and keep asking me about that beautiful creek running behind me. :) Nature and Network capabilities make this spot a diamond in the rough. Call and book your spot if you can get one! I know they sell out constantly!

We ended up staying in this amazing spot for two months! Starting with professional, patient and such friendly employees, Moonshine creek campground offered more than we ever expected.
It is located and designed with care and love. Its location is amazing and the sound of the brook makes it extra special. Campfires are allowed, you can purchase firewood at the office.
We have an 8 year old girl, who I felt from day 1, was as happy with the place as we were. The campground offers plenty of fun times around the ‘pond areas’ as well as the creek. The office has a great selection of board games/movies/books for rainy days as well.
Bathrooms, which include nice size washers and dryers, have always been clean, with plenty of hot water.
Mr. Jim and Mrs. Dana have always responded to our questions and took care of our requests.

I thought hard about the negatives but honestly, there were none. These people know what they are doing!! I am looking forward to returning one day.

Karolina, It was a pleasure having your family at Moonshine Creek this spring. We enjoyed meeting all of you and I still have the bracelet that Faith and her friends made and were selling for a dollar. It always made me smile to see other women campers around the campground wearing them. Stay safe where ever your travels may take you and thanks again for coming to Moonshine Creek.

This is the second time I’ve camped in this location. The first time was two years ago in a tent. I enjoyed my campsite, the accommodations, the solace. I was impressed by the quiet atmosphere the area offered. Last week, my young daughter and I went to tent camp at Moonshine Creek. I booked our reservation and the owner upgraded us to a cabin for the same price because it was going to rain. I was thankful that he was looking out for us. I’ve read the negative reviews about this campground, and as far as I can tell, all of those bad things that were said were probably made by some pretty picky people who do not value anything but the pedestal on which they are perched. This campground is beautiful… I don’t camp in an RV, but all of the guests seemed content and were set up for comfort. The bathhouse is renovated, clean, and absolutely accommodating, including a laundromat. The grounds were manicured, the company store was stocked well, and the prices were right. I’m impressed by the amount of trees surrounding the campground, providing a wonderful canopy from the sun in the hot summer heat. The constant flow of the cold-water creek erases any sounds from neighbors and adds a natural air conditioning to the campground. You just have to visit to see what I’m talking about. I highly recommend this campground. It’s a wonderful experience, and I cannot wait to go back again.

Our granddaughter describes this campground as "whimsical" and it is always important to consider how young people see the world around them. This campground is tucked away in a beautiful forested private property with a stream running through it.

Our site #13 was RIGHT ON the stream with the sound of the babbling brook setting the mood for our week's stay. The owners Jim & Dana, were so friendly and helpful. Since the campsites are situated in strange - often tight - positions around the stream, each guest is escorted by camp staff and directed into the campsite, removing any stress that so often comes with backing into campsites.. We have never seen this kind of service anywhere, and we camp throughout each summer season.

In all the places we have enjoyed camping, we must say, Moonshine Creek Campground has made our Top 10 list of most beautiful campgrounds. Staying here is like being hugged by mountains and trees, and then sung to sleep by sound of the stream.

We have yet to see a bathhouse as clean and grand as what we saw at Moonshine Creek. The laundry room is pristine as well.

The location of the campground is perfectly located for day trips to Waynesville, Asheville, for drives along the Blue Ridge Parkway with its overlooks to take in vistas of endless mountain ranges, and to tour the Great Smoky Mountains State Park.

We will surely be returning to this idyllic setting in the future.

This is the best privately owned campground I believe I've ever been to. There's a pretty creek running through the center with most campsites on the creek and all the facilities are modern but have a rustic appearance. Everything seems to have been done in a very environmentally friendly manner with wooded areas that have been untouched. The couple that owns it are very friendly and helpful and they have managed to maintain an environment that does not breed mosquitoes a wonderful place to stay.

This is an excellent campground! It’s really woodsy and the creek is fabulous. Especially nice are the tent sites. They seem to have some of the most scenic spots.

The Sanctuary area is awesome and the tent sites are right on the creek. It is for those with no pets or kids and is limited to 2 people per site. It’s a quiet zone. There is one tent cabin and 4 tent sites with water and electric. You CAN park at your sites. We weren’t sure before if it was a walk in area. The bathhouse for this area has two toilets and two showers. Each is completely private. There are outlets and sinks in all four. There is also a very nice sink and counter on the end for dishwashing. It’s all in excellent condition. Very nice picnic tables too. They were easy to wipe off.

Sites S1-3 have an awning/ shelter. S4 does not but is much larger. S4 is higher up so you look down on the creek. It is more off by itself. S1 even has access to a 2nd picnic table close to the creek. It is the smallest as far as tent space.

We would love to visit again!

Campground is a beautiful hidden gem tucked away in the mountains of North Carolina. Lots of shade, lovely bubbling creek running through the entire campground. Owners have done a great job accommodating lots of guests but still giving you that serene feeling of being tucked away in the forest. Jim has done a great job of being eco friendly in caring for the plants, trees and creek. As well as restoring the native trees and flowers native to the Appalachian mountains. We have been there to camp twice from different states and have already booked again for next year. Jim is also super helpful getting you backed in to your spot perfectly! You can always count on Dana to answer any questions on booking promptly, very helpful!

This is such a beautiful campground. Very well run and maintained. We had a site right next to the creek and it was so wonderful and relaxing. The bath house is spotless, It is better than any other public facility that I have been in within a campground. The staff was very helpful in assisting me get in and out of my site with my camper, as it was a little tight. There is an area where the larger campers/RVs are that is very crowded. I probably wouldn't have liked that as much, but our site was great. We will definitely be back!

Not just clean — sparkling. Not just quiet —peaceful & beautiful & restful.
Safe, secure, and friendly.
The creek is lovely as is every single site. Tremendous tree canopy and shade at every site. You’re not on top of your neighbors! Sites are level and perfectly maintained.
Bath & laundry are STUNNING with tile floors, granite countertops, and custom showers.
Close to all the shopping you need to have, but don’t want next-door.
All non-native plants at Moonshine Creek have been removed, so the native plants are back, supporting a healthy population of salamanders and newts.
Walking is encouraged, with groomed gravel paths to follow and explore.
Dogs are welcome!
The BEST camping and RV park anywhere — and we’ve been all over!
A wonderful base to explore western North Carolina and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

We can’t say enough great things about this campground and feel very fortunate to have gotten a site for just a few days earlier this week as they book fast. Coming from steamy, humid eastern Virginia, I was looking for a classic mountain getaway surrounded by nature. Moonshine Creek was perfect. Nothing better than the sound of the creek right outside our window.

They have ample sites for RVs/campers/tents of all sizes and many have unique features, like steps down to your creekside fire pit. It is apparent that thoughtful planning went into the landscaping to maintain as much foliage as possible, with bushes and trees around sites to provide privacy and nice touches like a few benches in the creek to sit on. Bathrooms/Laundry are immaculate. Nice owner who will escort and guide you into your site. Our 35’ fifth wheel fit perfectly against the stream. Costs vary based on size and time.

Susan thanks for your nice review of Moonshine Creek Campground so happy we were able to find a site for you right on the creek. Jim has put careful planning into the planting of new trees and bushes at the campground to blend with all the natural foliage and we don't take down trees just work around them. The natural beauty is why campers come and love it! We really appreciate you coming and now that you found us hope to see you back soon.
