Wife and I wanted to go to an event nearby. Found this gem on Facebook. It was beautiful and the staff was amazing. The roads leading to it are curvy and scary for someone like me with a fear of heights, but it was worth the anxiety. We will be back and next time I’m bringing my fishing poles. I wish I could post pics but they’re all on my wife’s phone.
A friend of mine and I went up to Springmaid Mountain Resort for a weekend trip. It was beautiful. There were walking trails and an opportunity to go horseback riding. It even snowed on our weekend which was a great experience!
This is a rally beautiful property. We are members of a sister property and found this place through an e mail promo. First, I recommend calling for your reservation and getting a good description of what you are renting. The cabins are all in great locations. The two in the campground and the one on the hill pretty much require driving to all the amenities. The campground (also a ways up the hill) has newly renovated bathrooms and showers and the sites are clean. Be sure to ask if there is a fire ring and picnic table at your choice of site. I do not recommend site #11 as it is super small. The ponds are all amazing. The fishing was great. The river is just a sweet spot evein if you don't fly fish, as is the waterfall. If you forget something the Walmart is 10 minutes away, as is Spruce Pine with a great little take out place: Tropical Cafe, and Elevation Jewler - this guy has an amzing gemstone collection!! And some super nice folks have a mini-golf course and thrift shop on highway 226 as well.…
Stayed in the bunk house and one of the efficiencies. Love the upgrades, beautiful place to rest and unwind. We enjoyed the hikes to the waterfalls. Some went more than once to them. Very beautiful. The men enjoyed trout fishing in the lake and pond fishing in front of the efficient cabins. The kitchen in the bunk house is spacious and well stocked. We enjoyed horseback riding on the trails and in the ring. Some of the children enjoyed swimming in the pond. My church plans to attend next year.
This is our third time staying here. The first two times was in the cabins. They was just what my family needed. A great get away from all the electronics and back to nature. We took a hike up to the water fall and let our 3 daughters play in the water. This time we used the campground. We loved it even though it rained most of the weekend. The bathrooms has been recently remodeled and looks great. We let our girls ride the horses. James was a great guide and funny too. We will definitely be back!!
Sherry at Springmaid could not have been more helpful. The manager let us change our horseback riding date around very easily when weather was questionable. Kaitlin was the horseback riding guide and my daughter and husband really enjoyed the trail. The trail ride was adventurous with very well cared for horses. It was nice to see such healthy horses and I counted at least 17 at one point on the grounds. The area is clean for the animals too. My only suggestion would be to add more fish to the stocked ponds. However- we still had an excellent day. Access to the river was nice.
We had a great time at Springmaid Mountain resort in April. We enjoy hiking the waterfall trail that runs along the river. The property is large and the accommodations are spread out so that it doesn't feel crowded even when other people are around. We did several trail rides on horseback during our visit and enjoyed those very much! The scenery is excellent!
Stayed at Springmaid Mountain in February. Very reasonable rates for a two bedroom. We also had two baths (just one shower). Very clean and spacious. Fully equipped kitchen. Small charcoal grill outside which was good because we ended up cooking all of our meals there because the choice of places to eat in town were very limited. We brought wood to make a fire but the fire pit was was a ways from our cabin so we really didn't get to enjoy it for the amount of time that we spent making the fire in the first place. We loved the horse stables on the property. We had no problem booking a trail ride. The guide was great and the horses were very well behaved! The location is very convenient to many trails. We chose Linville Falls which was about a 30 minute drive. Beware of going in February as many places are closed for the winter like Little Switzerland and all of the gem mining places and welcome stations. Only gave it 4 stars because, through no fault of the resort, there really is no mountain view or vista and not very many resort type amenities. But its a lovely, clean and quiet place that is super budget and dog friendly.…
Great accommodations! The house was very clean with adequate towels, etc. plenty of firewood available for the double fireplace. The view from the porch was awesome, overlooking the horse pasture and mountains.
My 10year old daughter and I came here for a special getaway weekend. This was just the perfect spot! The staff was so friendly. The cabin was clean and cozy and the property was beautiful. Our horseback trail ride was great! We look forward to coming back with friends and family again!
