My husband and I came to Southport for the first time to celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary. We stayed in Gracie’s room which has its own outside private entrance and porch. The room was perfect for us , we enjoyed sitting on the porch and spent a couple of hours each day relaxing at the pool. The inn’s grounds are immaculate and the owners are so kind! The continental breakfast was fine for us although we did go out for a full breakfast one morning. We could not have asked for a more relaxing time at the inn or in Southport! We will definitley be back!
Captain Newton's Inn is amazing. Laurie is a wonderful host. The rooms are spacious and extremely clean. The Inn is in a perfect location, a one minute walk to all the shops and a 2 minute walk to the water and 5 waterfront restaurants. They have a beautiful outdoor pool, a continental breakfast and happy hour! A must stay while in Southport.
The Innkeepers, Lisa and Hugh, offer generous hospitality in a lovely historic home. The inn is warm and inviting, complete with porches and a backyard pool for relaxing. I especially enjoyed the bicycles for sightseeing around the village. The inn is only a block from the Riverwalk, which allows for convenient access to beautiful sunrises and sunsets across the water. Restaurants, shopping, museums, and entertainment are just around the corner. A walking tour through the tree-lined historic neighborhoods gives a glimpse into what a quieter style of living can do for the soul. Lisa can recommend tips for site-seeing, shopping, and dining. All the special touches at the inn make this a destination spot worthy of experiencing again and again. Just lovely!
Such a beautiful place and so convenient. We were able to walk all around Southport from the inn. Very friendly owners. Delicious breakfast and wine/cheese in the afternoons. We loved the upstairs front porch.
We really enjoyed our weekend stay at Captain Newton's Inn. The house was comfortable, quaint and well decorated. The owners were very cordial and attentive to your needs. We would definitely recommend Captain Newton's Inn for your stay in Southport.
Excellent accommodations. Would not hesitate to revisit Captain Newton's Inn. The owners are very pleasant and welcoming. The location is perfect. We are looking forward to visiting again soon and often.
The Inn went beyond our expectations. Hugh and Lisa were gracious host. They opened their home to us providing many outstanding extra amenties. Afternoon wine and cheese boards. Daily soft drinks and other beverages with light snacks. Use of bicycles, pool, beach towels, and coolers. Morning breakfast was always nice with the option of eating inside or out by the pool. They were very knowledgeable about the area and we appreciated all the advice of things to do. We stayed in Captain Newton's room with a great view of downtown and a bit if the waterfront. You cannot get a better location in Historical Southport with all of your additional extras than here at the Captain Newton's Inn. We did find ourselves in a quandary once during our trip and Hugh and Lisa came through for us then. We have the upmost respect for them and will return for another visit. …
My wife and I were looking for a quick getaway. We were not disappointed with Captain Newton’s! The owners, Lisa and Hugh have never met a stranger. They made us feel like we had been longtime friends from the moment we first met them.As for the Inn itself, a beautiful old restored home with an incredible pool and hot tub and garden area surrounding it. If you didn’t know you were in Southport North Carolina, you think you were in the Florida Keys. We can’t wait to return!
I had a beautiful stay for 6 nights at Captain Newton’s Inn. Lisa and her husband were so thoughtful and accommodating. Continental breakfast with wonderful pastries. In the afternoon cheese, crackers, nuts and wine. Also water, and soft drinks available. The bed linens were so nice. I loved having the separate sitting room as well as the various sitting areas in the B&B. The pool is nice on those hot days. While in Southport we visited the waterfront, Oak Island, and Caswell Beach. We walked the town, along the waterfront and shopped. We ate lunch and/or dinner at Fishy Fishy Cafe, Frying Pan, Oliver’s, and Blue Cow Grille. We had dessert at Oliver’s. We did eat breakfast two days out at The Locals, and Saucy Southerner. We also had coffee shakes at Port City Java. For a beautiful sunset you want to walk to the gazebo on Brunswick Street and visit the various locations where the Safe Haven was filmed. Other movies and tv shows were filmed here and the information with a map can be found at Fort Johnston Southport Museum. One of the days my sister and I walked 10 miles. Since my sister could not stay the full week, my husband spent the rest of the week with me. There are so many things still to be seen here that I didn’t go to during my stay such as taking a ferry to Bald Head Island or the other beaches. I would stay here again and I will be back to visit Southport. Such a friendly, peaceful, safe place…
My husband and I stayed in the Indian Oak room for 2 nights back in April and I am finally getting around to writing a review. We absolutely loved the Inn and the owners were exceptional hosts! The inn is very beautiful and the setting is truly peaceful. We loved lounging by the pool during the day and then walking around downtown in the evening. The location is awesome! Park your car and you are set for the rest of your stay! The shops are lovely and there is a lot of variety. We ate at a number of places but Fishy Fishy, The Provision Company and the Moore Street Oyster Bar are favorites! We can't wait to return to the perfect Inn in the perfect town!
