We enjoyed our stay very much. The gardens make it feel secluded, and the separate entrance at a lower level makes it feel private. The kitchenette and lovely appointments show exceptional care and preparation. The breakfast is varied and delicious, served at a requested time. Very nice proprietors!
Lovely accommodations in a storybook setting. The suite is charming, private, and beautifully appointed. We seek out B&Bs in out travels and this one is outstanding and a wonderful value. Sherry is warm and gracious without hovering--important to us. I write this from the comfort of the sitting area as I watch flocks of birds visiting the feeder outside the bay window, reluctant to pack the car and leave. The suite is immaculate, kitchen area is quite adequate and well equipped. The bathroom is "cozy", but serves well and the towels are soft and thick. A delight place to enjoy a mountain retreat.
The Charles Street Garden Suite is a great alternative to a hotel. The suite has a small kitchenette and a nice sitting area. The sitting area is in front of a large bay window that looks out into a garden with lots of birds. There is also a small covered porch outside the door where you can enjoy the garden. Sherry, one of the owners, is a great hostess. She provides breakfast in the suite at whichever time you select. One day I had French toast, another day it was scrambled eggs, and the third day was pancakes. Each breakfast was served with fresh fruit and OJ. Sherry makes sure that she is not intrusive but is available to provide whatever is needed to make your stay comfortable. I mentioned that the suite is quirky, and that's because the back half (bathroom area and kitchenette) has no windows. The windows are on the sides and front because the suite is on the lower level of the owners' home. The parking space is also a little tight and difficult to find when you first arrive. The rate for this suite is very reasonable, and the quirkiness is charming. You can also walk to the tiny downtown area for dinner or shopping. I enjoyed my stay and would stay here again if I am in the area.…
The owners of the Charles St. are very welcoming and manage a very well appointed bed and breakfast. I highly recommend staying here. The only quirk is that they only take cash or checks, but that does help keep costs down. The breakfast provided was absolutely wonderful. They brought down French Toast and bacon with fresh squeezed orange juice. The gardens are very nice to walk through and offer a broad selection of local flowers and plants. Plan to stay the next time in the area.
The Hoovers took us in for one night on very short notice, so we were appreciative before arriving. Upon arriving, we were then also delighted. Though the weather was quite cold, their suite was cozy and comfortable and the owners are terrific hosts. Walter greeted us and was full of information about the town and surrounding area, and Sherry made a lovely breakfast for us the following morning. It was a quick trip, but we were able to relax and enjoy Saluda during our stay. Even in winter, their garden is a sight to see--as is the beautiful, historic church next door. We hope to return in the spring and look forward to staying here again.
