Located just 30 mi. south of Asheville where the foothills meet the Blue Ridge Mountains, the rest of the world melts away the moment you enter the long winding driveway and approach our elegant mountaintop escape, comfortably nestled on 12 peaceful acres. As you walk up the front steps, graciously framed in boxwood hedges, the cozy rockers on the Antebellum style porch are calling. Enter the open and airy living room with it's great stone fireplace, and you immediately feel at home. The Inn was originally built in 1926 by the Brotherhood of Southern Railroad as a summer retreat for members' families. Transformed into a B&B in 1981 it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, member of Select Registry as well as Chaine des Rotisseurs. Fine dining restaurant serving dinner Thurs-Sat. 16 rooms tastefully decorated in period pieces & antiques all with luxurious linens.

My husband surprised me with a weekend getaway here and I love it. We stayed in a cabin with a porch that has a wonderful view of the foothills. The owners are so welcoming. Close to many fun options for a Saturday. We picked kayaking the Green River. Eating at Newman’s is a must. The view and food are both amazing. A big thank you to Adam for squeezing us in at the restaurant since they were booked last night! We will be back!

We have stayed at the Orchard Inn several times in the past and always delight in seeing the improvements and new features that Marc and Marianne continue to add to the property between our visits. This year we were nervous travelers due to Covid, did not want to push hotel elevator buttons or dine inside at restaurants . Also, this was our first travel adventure and out-to-eat experience since February for our Georgia and Florida family members ranging from 77 to 2 years old. We picked the Orchard Inn because it was the safest place we could think of and we were not disappointed. The entire staff was masked, and great attention was paid to continuous disinfecting. Our meals were served to us outside on the front veranda and back porch with tables self-distanced. Add the Newman's fine dining cuisine and service, the views of the Blue Ridge foothills, family hikes to Pearson Falls and it was everything we expected and more. Covid or not, we will be back soon.

We were looking for a getaway from the heat and COVID fatigue of Florida. We found the perfect fit at the Orchard Inn. They have 2 suites unattached to the main house and we were able to book East for 4 nights. The main house is 100 yrs old and magnificent, with a wrap around front porch, with dining tables for social distancing, a large common area on the first floor including a library/reading room, and the dining room along the back facing the mountains, with a perfect view.
Marc, Marianne, and their son Adam are the proprietors. Super nice people who welcome you and make you feel like you are their only guests. The breakfasts are wonderful, and Marianne cooks up a special dish each morning. We will definitely return to this wonderful mountain hideaway.

We were scheduled to host 5 cabins of family on a river cruise in France= Covid cancel. cancelled also was our domestic cruise through New England same for a B&B in Highlands= Covid Hot spot.
Marc and Marianne offer a professional and gracious hospitable premium hotel stay in the mountains. We felt we had found the perfect place to Mark our grand anniversary.

The bed is firm, the sheets the softest, the rooms are spotless and outfitted to perfection. The staff is warm and welcoming and anxious to provide the best service possible
Spa service was a welcome addition to this break from home quarantine.
Cannot say enough positive things about this wonderful family and the service they offer.

My husband and I met my son and his family at this charming inn in October. Because of Covid we had to forego all our usual travels and enjoyment of dining out since March. We were very lucky to discover this lovely inn in the small town of Saluda, close to Asheville, the beautiful mountsins, and white water rafting on the Green River. To avoid congregating with people , we rented their largest cottage which was a charming home with kitchen ,fireplace, sleeping 8 . All our meals were enjoyed on the inn's porch , served by delightful and accommodating new friends. The food was not mountain fare but fine dining. Wd now look forward to returning for another long weekend to relax and enjoy such a friendly and luxury accomodation near so many enjoyable activities.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a delightful review! We are glad we met or exceeded your expectation and hope we have the opportunity to do so again in the near future. We are working hard to follow Covid procedures. Frankly, we are getting used to the high standards set by the CDC! Again, our thanks and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay.

The Orchard Inn is a step back to a simpler time. We rented one of the cottages on the property (The Holly) and thoroughly enjoyed the screened inn porch. The grounds of the Inn are lovingly cared for, and it was a treat to dine each morning on the terrace of the Inn and watch all the birds and butterflies. This is not a fancy, over the top place. It's just homey and welcoming. I highly recommend staying at one of the cottages.

My wife and I spent one night in the Keeping Room on the main floor of the house in early August and both of us enjoyed it immensely. Our room was spacious and comfortable and the bath and shower were also. The ambiance of the public areas is spacious but inviting. The immediate gardens, paths and vegetation were teeming with life (flowers, plants, trees, birds, etc.), while the more distant views of the valley and mountains were grand.
Orchard Inn's owners and their staff were delightfully warm and accomodating, yet not intrusive.
Breakfast was excellent, both in quality, timeliness and service. Our only regret was that we were there on a Monday evening and the much-acclaimed restaurant, Newman's, was not open. We look forward to returning soon and experiencing it as well.
We hope to bring our grown children with us on our next visit as words don't adequately describe the treasure that we discovered at the Orchard Inn and its surroundings.

Being from Florida, we were looking for a getaway in the NC mountains at the time the leaves were changing. We were lucky to find a four night vacancy at Orchard Inn, and lucky it was. From the moment we were welcomed by Adam, until we were bid farewell by Marc and Maryann, we felt like we were welcome guests in their home. We wanted to be separate and safe, so we stayed in the Mountain View East suite, next to the main building. The wrap around porch, on the hundred year old main house, was set up with tables for breakfast, which was uniquely prepared each morning, and fabulous.
This place was truly a fantastic find, and we plan to return.

Every detail was handle to make our stay exceptional. We would love to return and plan to do so. The common space in the Inn is so well appointed and yet it is not stuffy or pretentious. Just beautiful with fresh flower arrangements throughout the living area, plenty of reading material, gorgeous views with sunrise and we saw March's super moon from our bedroom and the patio as well as the living area. It is close by to the town yet we had plenty of wooded privacy and openness for roaming. The host were wonderful and breakfast was amazing. Thank you Marianne and Marc we will be back.

The lodge itself is far better to stay in than one of the little cabins. Why? Upon entering our cabin it smelled musty and the bathroom smelled like urine. It looked clean but SMELLED like cat pee - disgusting. The shower door wouldn’t stay closed and they give you bar of soap and say it’s for hair and body IT’S NOT! Bringing your own shampoo and conditioner to this place is an absolute must!
The bed was comfortable enough but done leave the fan on to try and alleviate the smell it ticks all night long! Food was good, and service was good.

No - we do not have tv's in any of the guest rooms, only in the Laurel Cottage. We have an entertainment room with a 60" hdtv and pool table in our finished basement. Our guests have continued to request we keep it this way, so we have.

The restaurant is indeed fabulous. It is a small room with a great view. It is quiet enough to have a conversation around the table. Rare for any restaurant today. The food is great as well as the service. We ate dinner and breakfast there. The breakfast is wonderful. You really must try the French toast.

Is it better to say to stay in main hotel building or manor house across the street
Answer from TrekG

There is no manor house, but there are 5 cottages you can stay in. We were fine in the main house, it was very quiet. The cottages seemed cute and were tucked away in different spots on the property.
