Had an opportunity to visit Orchard Inn and dine at Newman's Restaurant. The ambiance was lovely with a fire crackling in the fireplace and twinkling lights all around the room. Our server (Lynn) was attentive, knowledgeable and professional. The 4 course meal was amazing! I had a salad, house-made fettuccine, melt in your mouth need tenderloin, and panacotta for dessert. (Wish I had gotten the scallop ceviche vs fettuccine, just because it was so pretty). Everything was hot, fresh and elegantly plated. Sorry I didn't take any pictures! Highly recommend for a special meal with good friends.
My husband and I stayed two nights for my birthday getaway in a cabin, and ordered a cake. From the time we got there until we reluctantly left, we were treated like royalty. The view from the dining room or the front porch was to die for. Mountains, flowers, birds...just gorgeous. The breakfast items each were perfect. We stay in B&Bs and Inns a lot especially in Maine, and can honestly say these were the best breakfasts we'd been treated to. The cabin looked from the outside like a quaint mountain cabin, inside was all mod cons. When we were introduced to the two boxers and told that they would guide us on the nature walk, we laughed. It was not a joke. They stood at the top of the Inn stairs and waited patiently for us, guided us to the path entrance, and then gently showed us the way. We tipped them in head pets. The very nearby Pearson's Falls was the highlight of our trip. After returning the dogs explained to me that I was not to loll on the porch swing but go on the nature walk again. I called to my husband who was at the gazebo and we enjoyed a little trek through the woods. By the way, these dogs understand "no" and just leave! We made a fuss over them. The little town of Saluda is also nearby and provided yummy pizza. Our only complaint is that we lived in the area for years without discovering this gem. Perfection.…
My spouse and I recently enjoyed a stay here. The Inn is beautiful, with a number of cabins also on the property. Upon arrival, Katie was very welcoming and gave us a tour. The Boxwood cabin was great, with a remodeled bathroom, and a nice screed in back porch. The cabin also has a gas fireplace. Breakfast was delicious, and our server Mary was very pleasant. Saluda and nearby Tryon have a lot of antique stores, and other interesting things to visit. One thing to note: if you want to eat in the restaurant at the Inn make a reservation early. Even though we were registered guests there to celebrate my birthday, we could not get a table.
This was our 3rd trip to Orchard Inn, now almost 100 years old, and it maintains its’ high ranking and esteem on our eyes. My wife and I stayed in the Keeping Room down stairs and it is very nice, with quite appropriate appointments. We ate at Newman’s, their in house restaurant and it is also 5 star. There is complementary coffee, soft drinks and tea offered at all times. The staff is very nice and we enjoy our visits very much.
I would give them 10 stars if I could! LOCATION The inn is located in charming Saluda close to the downtown shops and only 10 minutes from Hendersonville. Easy to get to from the highway INN The inn itself is gorgeous! Walking towards the inn on the beautifully landscaped walkway lands you on a large farmhouse porch with swings and plenty of sitting areas just awaiting a cool mountain breeze to wisp by you. The inn has a beautiful, grand fireplace and several sitting areas, including a library where many guests were enjoying relaxing. Downstairs felt like its own little pub area with TV watching area and pool table, which we used. The well behaved boxer, Clayton, meets you at the door and followed us to our car to "help" us unload. Very sweet and friendly pup! Very cozy and homey vibe! THE ROOM Farmhouse feel and bed was 10/10 on comfort. It was GREAT sleep and so cozy. Bathroom was a little small but large pedestal sink allowed for plenty of room for toiletries, makeup, etc. DINING The ambiance and dining experience made our experience very magical. Breakfast was superb - fruit yogurt, danishes, eggs, sausage, and yummy sunflower toast. We sat out on the porch veranda and I cannot begin to describe how glorious it was. Trickling water sounds, wide mountain views, and cozy dining table. SERVICE Everyone is so friendly and hospitable. Adam gave us a tour of the inn and was so nice and charming. Overall, wonderful experience! Make sure to check out the birds off the back of the house.…
When we arrived, we were first greeted by one of the owners and two adorable boxers. Right then we knew this was going to be a unique and fun stay! The inn itself has a ton of character and has this "frozen in time" feel while still having everything you'd expect in a modern B&B. The breakfast was absolutely outstanding in every sense of the word. The hosts are very friendly and have all kinds of tips both locally and even if you're planning a trip to Europe. We loved the town of Saluda and all the hiking opportunities nearby just as much as we loved coming back to the inn to sit on the porch or reading one of the books they have in the living room. The only bummer was that we didn't stay when Newman's Restaurant was open for dinner, as we hear it's exquisite. Next time!
This was our first stay at this charming inn. Despite rainy and cold weather, our stay was delightful. The mountain setting is beautiful and the well -attended bird feeders entertaining. Every staff member was friendly, cheerful and accommodating. Breakfasts were delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Dinner at Newman’s was spectacular with an exceptional wine list. This is a simple country inn done right. Immaculate cleanliness, well appointed and cozy. Highly recommend for relaxation and comfort. Inn keepers (Marianne) and staff know how to do this right! Definitely plan on revisiting in summer months to see the grounds and surrounding areas in full bloom!
This is our third stay at the Orchard Inn. We travel all the way from Chicago to this special destination. Marc and Marianne know how to make you feel welcome. We rented a house on the grounds with friends this October after previously staying in rooms in the main building. There is no better place to put aside one's cares about the world or anything else for a few days and to recharge our emotional batteries. The beautiful surroundings, the luscious meals, the warmth of the innkeepers and the relaxing ambience all make us want to return ( as we will). So bring some good books and walking shoes and don't forget to visit Saluda or Asheville. In Saluda we recommend the bakery and the Purple Onion, where hopefully music has returned. We all need a place like this now ,more than ever.…
My wife and I spent a few days at the Orchard Inn last week. It was 5 stars from the moment we walked in the front door. The staff was superb. They greeted us with warm smiles everytime we saw them. The food at breakfast and dinner was world class. We ate in a beautiful dining area looking out at the mountains. The first morning our table looked out over some bird feeders and they had a card on the table to show us what birds were there. The rooms were awesome. We stayed in the Holly cabin. The bed was amazing ( and beds on the road usually are not). Everything was the most comfortable ever ( the bed, the sheets, the comforter, the pillows etc. We enjoyed sitting in front of our fireplace, sitting out on our screened in porch, or sitting in the steam/sauna shower in our room. We had great wifi, but no TV which was a blessing. We had quite a library in the room, but also a great library in the main building with loads of books to choose from. There was a massive TV room in the main building with board games, pool table and many things to do . There were hiking trails, etc. You could be active, or just take time to truly rest and relax. There was original art and photos beautifully displayed. The Spa was also wonderful. We enjoyed a couples massage. Saluda was also wonderful....everyone was so friendly and everywhere we went, we felt at home. The Orchard Inn made this the best vacation we have had in a long time. We are definitely going back. We want to try it out at least every season and probably more often that that. A beautiful facility and the best staff we have encountered in a long time. We were treated like old friends or family...not just guests.…
This was our fist venture for an extended trip since Covid. We chose to return to Orchard Inn and were pleased to stay in Mountainview West. The view from the balcony was amazing with the fall colors still prevalent. Better yet, was the food, service and dining experience. Dinner at Newman's is not to be missed. We look forward to our next visit to Orchard Inn.
