Dirty, No one has cleaned or mopped floors in some time. Ants all over kitchen. Spiders every where. No air conditioning. Unlocked basement, old bar per kids. Kids ran wild. It was cheat $70. dollars per night per couple. We cooked our own food that we brought in. So hot and humid.

Recently rented some rooms here for memorial day. We loved the homey feel of the inn, industrial kitchen and individual touches to all of the bedrooms. Most had Victorian upright bathtubs, giant windows and a cozy feel; it was a relaxing place to stay and I would recommend it to anyone willing to put up with a few splinters/quirks and... More

This place seems like a bargain until you figure out if there is no air conditioning, and the water pressure is so bad that the faucet stops working when you flush the toilet. And, while there is Wi-Fi, it is spotty, and not available in many rooms. Pros Rustic, Spacious. Large kitchen. Cons: No air conditioning . Since there is... More

We are sorry this guest did not enjoy the stay. We post several places on our website and VRBO that the property does not have air conditioning. It is also printed on paperwork that guests receive with their lease agreement. It is very important to us that our potential guests to be fully informed before they make the decision to... More

Have stayed here many times. Perfect for large groups needing lots of rooms large kitchen sitting rooms dining room and of course the big front porch. If there were fans provided in hot summer it would be nice but it is nice even if you get sweaty.

We rented the inn for a family wedding weekend in June and found it to be a perfect place for the families and friends of the bride and groom to gather, celebrate and get to know each other. The kitchen is large and well equipped and the front and side porches are natural gathering spots. The inn comfortably slept almost... More

Eight or nine years ago, I heard from two separate Charleston friends about their visits to a great inn in Saluda, N.C. We checked it out and have been coming here at least once a year--sometimes twice-- since then. The inn is a perfect place to get together with friends for a long weekend. We gather for cocktails on the... More

Twenty-nine extended family members celebrated birthdays of the oldest (92) and youngest (3) on the first weekend of April. We have rented homes in SC and GA trying to stay within five-six hours for everyone scattered in four states. We prefer one house finding that late nights/early morning meetings in the kitchen produce the best interaction among family members that... More

For the past three years my wife and I have hosted four day gatherings at the Saluda Inn. Each time we bring from 20-38 people, and generally use all the bedrooms. We rent the entire facility with the exception of the wine cellar in the walk-out basement. Our last visit was March, 2013. Our guest have ranged in age (20's... More

Our extended family rented the entire property for Thanksgiving 2012. In other words, our family of 21 rented the Inn as a "vacation home" for the holiday. This would not be a typical B&B experience and thus is not a B&B review. However, some aspects of this review would be applicable to the B&B experience. There is definitely a "laid... More

We had a group of 8 couples with a couple of young adult children and one toddler grandchild. Our stay was right after Labor Day and the weather was very nice. The inn is more of a house rental but that's exactly what we wanted. A great time, we enjoyed the kitchen, the wine cellar, Saluda itself. We were able... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A rustic retreat. We are walking distance to a small historic town with 2 parks, several restaurants, shops and friendly people. The property does not have air condition - but has ceiling fans and screened windows. We have wireless. There is a TV but very little reception - can be used with other portable devices for watching movies. This is a mountain retreat that was built 150 years ago. The doors creek and the hardwood floors squeak. Our repeat customers enjoy these nuances. There is a rope swing the kids love and shuffle board court. We also have added a bocce ball court. Our Kitchen is great for large groups. The property is mostly shaded by mature landscaping and large trees. Our porch offers a sunny and shady side. We also have a great fire pit for those chilly evenings. We live next door and are available 24 hours a day. When we are not rented to large groups, we happily rent individual rooms. If you want to get away to the simple life - this is the place for you. ... more   less
