Detailed Reviews
Near the end of our 12 day visit to the Carolinas, we had the good fortune of spending two nights at the most extraordinary B&B. This fully restored 100-year old mansion in the historic district compared favorably to the fine hotels we stayed at in Charlotte, Charleston and Ashville. The room was large, beautifully appointed and comfortable. Mary made delicious English breakfasts each morning and both hosts were very knowledgeable about Salisbury and went out of their way to help us discover the city and old family roots. Our stay at Across the Pond was truly a 5-star experience at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend this B&B for the quality, service and value. We will be back! Rick & Denise Baker

We spent one night with my sister and BIL at this wonderful B&B as a part of our Christmas gift to them. Our stay was just about perfect… Communication with host Mary was excellent before with thorough description of check in and parking, and we found both Mary and Graham to be gracious hosts in what is a beautifully restored historic home. Rooms were beautiful and comfortable, bed was very comfy. The bath linens were extraordinary…thickest fluffiest towels ever!! Recommendations for dinner were spot on, chats about the history of Salisbury were informative. We even had wine and nibbles served that evening. (Most delicious pickles and hot pepper jelly!!) There was a white noise machine provided to assist in getting the best night’s sleep. Breakfast was delicious too. It was a wonderful stay in a beautiful place with charming hosts…couldn’t imagine a better place! Thank you, Mary and Andrew, for helping make our Christmas Adventure a memorable one!

We have been staying in b&b's off and on since 1979. Our experience is not vast, but we have some perspective. On a Friday evening we arrived at the Across the Pond facility and were greated by the owners. Very warmly. Some of the inns are now rather "corporate", but not this one. The owners do it all. The house is nothing short of spectacular, over 100 years old and lovingly restored and kept up. Our suite was immaculately clean and more than we expected. The owners joined us for a glass of wine. Better yet, the inn is on a stately quiet street that's within walking distance of the central business district and numerous restaurants. What could I say about this stay except it was one of the best lodging experiences ever for us.

This lovely Bed and Breakfast is run by Mary and Andy. They designed this old house into a beautiful home with so much charm. They make you feel so welcoming and at home. The Matisse room was so comfortable and relaxing. It was stocked with everything you needed for a wonderful stay. The rooms are so clean. The white noise machine was great addition. During their " Happy Hour" we talked so much we almost missed our dinner reservation. Breakfast was delicious. wished we could have stayed longer and visited more of the town. I will recommend this wonderful Bed and Breakfast to everyone!!

From the personal phone call from Mary a couple days before our arrival inquiring what we like to eat for breakfast, to the tour of the library with over 3000 books & the artwork, the cleanliness & feeling like we were family! We highly recommend especially if you like local history.
I'm vegan & Mary her dear friend made vegan pancakes with blueberries that were scrumptious! They also served my sweetheart & another guest sausage & eggs followed up with a homemade desert that I can't recall the name of.
We didn't want to leave! We will be going back!

My wife and I had stayed here for a quick Anniversary getaway and this lovely house couldn't have been more perfect.
When we arrived the owners explained to us that they were having AC troubles (home ownership at its greatest lol) and had already made arrangements for us to use which was so nice, we truly felt that Mary and Andy, the owners, cared and went above and beyond to show it.
The afternoon tea & beverages was a great experience and the Little Shop of Horrors musical that evening did not disappoint. Salisbury is such a quaint and lovely town, we had no idea and have lived less than 45 minutes away. Our breakfast the next morning was delicious.
Our trip was the perfect getaway so forget the hotels and chains and do yourself a favor and stay here at Across the Pond Bed and Breakfast. You will not be disappointed.

We were here for a relaxing weekend getaway and could not have been more thrilled! The home was immaculate and interesting, from the books to the furnishings, to the architecture. The hosts were gracious, welcoming, interesting and just delightful to talk to and get to know. The breakfasts, sweet treats and beverages were delicious. The location was just a few blocks from the historic downtown area which had many small and unique shops and restaurants. Everything was perfect and could not have been better. We will return!

We enjoyed our stay very much. Our hosts were friendly and gracious. We arrived by train, and they offered to pick us up and return us to the station after check out. Upon arrival we were amazed at the beauty of this restored home. It was pristine and welcoming. We were given a tour of the common areas, which were bright and comfortable. Throughout our stay, our hosts were available to answer questions and direct us as needed. Each day we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast and a 5pm reception with beverages. Our room was clean and quite beautiful, fully stocked with all of our needs. We highly recommend a stay and we hope to return one day.

We spent the week-end at Across the Pond B & B, and it was wonderful! The room was well appointed, and the mattress was very comfortable. The hosts, Andrew and Mary, were welcoming and made us feel like we were family. The English breakfasts were spot on! The location is is within walking distance to the main street. Don't pass up this B&B, it's the best!

Our stay at Across the Pond was absolutely perfect. If anyone is unsure about a Bed and Breakfast experience, this house and the humans who run it will change your mind. The rooms were private with private modern bathrooms, fantastic WiFi and spotless and clean. Truly comfortable and great sleep without intrusion.
The breakfast was a welcome surprise. Andy and Mary have an artful hand when it comes to simultaneously providing attentive care and privacy. Simply put, they're kind, smart and cool. The opposite ot snobbery.
You won't regret your stay. Can't wait to visit our new friends again.
