We did not stay at Mataranka Homestead went swimming in the spring found it very clean and pleasant. It is a nice short walk through the palms very scenic. Could not smell or see any flying foxes This would be a great spot to stop its very peaceful. I would have liked to have a caravan and stayed for a...

This is a "must visit" place. The thermal pool is situated right beside the Homestead Resort and is easily accessible from the camp ground. Public can visit via the Homestead Resort. The pool is fed from a continuous spring warmed to about 34 degC. The pool has comfortable surrounds to enable swimmers to leave towel etc and access the pool....

We stayed here on a recommendation and we were only planning on staying one night. We ended up staying for 3 nights. We found the facilities basic but good. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful, they would go out of their way to help where they could. $26 a night for an unpowered site for 2 adults in a...

Very disappointed with room quality. Needs a total renovation of cabins, should not be available for use in current condition. Even sheets and bed covers are pre-1990. Tiling is broken and sharp edges dangerous. Air conditioning copes but so old wonder on it's safety. Staff great, food good, hot springs lovely. Cabin accommodation not up to health standards.

I have never stayed in such a dirty place. They say you can drink the water.... but then they say that the minerals in the water make the sink / toilet this colour.... very interesting. Needs a good reno & a good clean! I do not know how people are allowed to stay in such filth. I think these attached...

The word "homestead" brought to mind a certain image. No homestead here... Just a large ramshakle building with reception/souvenirs/supplies and an extremely large outdoor seating area for the bar/food joint. As vegetarians, the food was mediocre to say the least (so often the case) but surely pasta with tomatoe sauce isn't too much of an ask. Instead it was salad...

We didn't stay here, but used some of the facilities when we were visiting the Thermal Pool. The caravan park looked comfortable and pleasant. We were able to use the toilets while we were there and they weren't modern but were clean. We browsed around the bar and kiosk and it seemed like a comfortable place to hang out. Food...

The hot springs here are beautiful and worth seeing and spending sometime at. Accommodation is clean but basic. Rooms are small but have everything you need. Food was also basic but good size portions. For ease of access to the thermal pools and the cleanliness I would stay again.

So after a long drive out of darwin via the kakado National Park we parked up at the mataranka Homestead because we were told to experience the hot Springs so we did. The hot springs were fantastic in the middle of the Bush, very very nice and relaxing. The unit we had was,for the price, extremely average and needed a lot of...
