We stayed at this hotel with another couple in our recent St Lawrence River trip. This hotel offered an interesting historical setting. The rooms were huge, compared to most other hotels. We had a great dinner at the hotel, and the four of us agreed that we had the best chowder among many of the countries we visited.

Careful when booking here. Bed was clean and comfortable. Bathroom too. Staff pleasant. That's it. Read the other reviews. I travelled alone and was provided a room in the adjoining wind, La Serre. Hmmm. Very old tired carpet. I refused to walk barefoot anywhere on the room. "Renovation" very sloppy and outlets spare. They accommodate for this by stringing extension cords around the room. What a fire hazard. My air conditioner was plugged into an outlet that was on the other side of the wall (another room which I couldn't access, read on) and the air conditioner was "installed" in a window and the gaps filled in with plywood. None of the windows opened, the curtains hardly covered the windows so I put a light sweater over the gap for privacy as the room with a "view" was right near the entrance. Breakfast was adequate. Would have been good really if their stove wasn't so hot or the chef paid better attention to the cooking. I was there for three days and every meal was overdone, not burned really but very brown. Oh when I checked the room's spare door thinking it was a closet it opened up into the reception area and the lock was on the other side of the door (they forget to lock it to keep ME out of the reception area but ANYONE could have walked in on ME! They assured me only the employees went in that area but still... I barricaded my side with the arm chairs that were in the room. This site is considered to be of historic significance but overall it looks rather tired and some careless maintenance. It doesn't appear to have been maintained with keeping any historic value but I could be wrong. And it is rather pricey for what is offered. I wouldn't stay there again.

This was arranged as part of a package as we were travelling around Canada. To start with the lady kept on insisting there was three of us staying when there was only two. Not a good start. The room we were given was dreadful, it felt that we had been put in the servants quarters overlooking the carpark. The beds were rock hard and the chairs in the room smelt awful. The electrics were dreadful and would not have been acceptable by UK standards. As for the wifi, what a joke. It worked for about 5 mins and no longer. When it came to breakfast, I have certain food allergies and most food on the menu I was unable to eat and asked for cereal which was declined. I had some pancakes which were all burnt to a cinder. Lesson to be learnt- don't make waves and they won't mess around with your food. On the upside, the evening meal was superb and it was different staff in the restaurant in the evening.

I contacted this B&B back in May looking for somewhere different to stay other than a hotel. We were doing a road trip to Gaspe Bay and I found this place on the web and it looked charming in the pictures. Rooms all uniquely decorated and individually named. I requested two rooms as my top picks but was told they weren't available but another room with a view and air conditioning was available. I took it and confirmed with credit card and had email confirmation from the owner/manager. After a 5 1/2 hour car drive, we arrived at the the B&B to find it locked but they would return soon. They did and the lady who checked us in spoke very little English and it seemed there was some confusion about which room we had. She called the manager and then took us to our room at the back of the property, no view and a table fan to keep us cool on a 35 C degree day. We examined the room and decided that this was not what we had reserved and not what we had driven all day to sleep in. We went back to the main desk and another lady was there and we told her we were not satisfied with our accommodation. Had to call the owner again and this time I spoke with him and told him I was very annoyed at being treated this way, etc. In the end, they gave us a lovely room (that I was told was not available), the Romantique room. It had a portable air conditioner in it that had not been turned on all day. We turned it on and after an hour still no cool air. Several people came to look at it saying that it should work, it would take time, etc. Never did. We requested a fan and they had nothing to spare. In the end they had to take a fan from the kitchen staff so we would not suffocate. We did survive the night. Also, the TV had to be unplugged and plugged in again everytime we turned it off and restarted it. We ate in their dining room which was very good for dinner and breakfast the next morning was also very good. Good choices, eggs benedict, omelets, etc. In the end they adjusted our nightly rate since we had no air conditioning. A little disorganized with their bookings and we did not appreciate them trying to pull something over on us. Overall I would recommend but make sure you get confirmation in writing.

The bed and breakfast is older and needs some TLC as can be seen on the front of the building. Inside it is old world charm with a reception and dining area for guests. Upstairs are the bedrooms. We had a suite- two bedrooms, one of which had a sitting area and there was a large full bathroom. The bed was nothing special but soft. There was a full breakfast included with the stay. The choices were not to my liking but I managed to have some food at each breakfast. I was impressed with the table setting of white linens, silver flatware and tableware. Dinner was served in the evening but we ate elsewhere. The host was also the owner, manager and cook. It was a convenient location with lots of room but having seen other accommodations in Gaspe I might chose another place to stay.
