Had a lovely 3 night stay at this hotel. Struggling to understand where all the bad reviews are coming from! The room was basic but spacious and clean and we had a balcony with a pool view. We only opted for breakfast to be included in our stay, even as veggies we had plenty of choice and there were different options each day alongside the usual breakfast offerings. All the staff who we interacted with were polite and helpful. The only downside we really encountered was that the walls are paper thin and you can hear the other rooms around you. This wasn't a problem for us but I can imagine in the height of summer when bigger groups are holidaying it could get a bit noisy. Nothing a pair of ear plugs couldn't sort through!

Hotel very dated Food decent but cold Rooms not very clean Walls so thin you can hear your neighbours talking Hotel promotes senior group stays so many guests age 70+ Entertainment almost none, nothing to do with kids. Bar manager was lovely but his staff Claudio was extremely rude and unpleasant. He made us feel very uncomfortable and unsafe. He should be sacked immediately and never work in hospitality again. Hôtel deserves maximum 3 stars.

This was our first ever visit to the Royal Star and they say you never get a second chance to make a first impression. This is so true of this hotel. Calling this 4* is very wide of the mark. Maybe 40 years ago it was 4 star, as this place is stuck in a time lock and has been left wanting when it comes to the 21st century standards of the modern day traveller. It's Tired and dated as many other comments in thereviews have said. The demographic was predominantly retirement age ++However, for the first three days we was also a wash with youth who loved to be heard. The staff on reception were very professional and always ready to help us with any issues as was the case on the first night but, we'll come to that later. We booked all Inclusive so that we wouldn't have to worry about extras. That was our 1st mistake. The food is very limited and very samey absolutely no choice for vegans and very limited for vegetarians. Also it was always rammed and finding a table of four if you didn't time it right was a challenge. So after day two we mainly ate out in the local area. The drinks in the bar were also not very pleasant. Most of the drinks tasted like detergent had been left in the glasses. The entertainment on offer was pathetic and not for the English in the slightest. So again we found ourselves out and about which was not what we paid a lot extra a day for all inclusive. If I was you I would do bed only as the food and drinks are not up to a very good standard. Now for the rooms we asked for a room on the top floor so that cleaners would not be waking us scraping furniture around the room above. We got the complete opposite room 101 right above the hotel bar. The patio doors were also not very well sealed and we could hear ever car go past on the main road as if the doors were open. The next morning after barely any sleep we was moved to the fourth floor. The patio doors weren't much better and with people up and down corridors sleep became a luxury. This hotel has, bar non, THE thinnest walls ever. You can hear every little thing as if there was no wall there and the slide doors sound like they are open when they are closed they are so lacking in sound dampening materials. Every noise can be heard from above aswell. We could hear when a message had come through in next doors phone. Even the hairdryer sounded like it was in the same room. If we were ever to consider returning to this hotel I would have to be assured it had been gutted, sound proofed, and modernised. Not for us and sadly one of the worst hotels we've stayed in in Spain.

We came for a Christmas and New Year break. The "hot" food was generally cold throughout our stay. Christmas Day was almost a non event which was disappointing but the New Year’s Eve dinner was good. Sadly, it was the only meal during our stay where we could say this. On Boxing Day dozens of youngsters arrived for a water polo tournament. For three nights they ran amok totally out of control, climbing balconies, running and shouting outside, leaping in the pool, and shouting and running through corridors banging on our doors. All of this continued until 3am and 4am. When approached by a number of guests on our tour, the hotel staff were totally indifferent and indicated that there was nothing they could do. Really?? We had three nights of sheer hell, and some of the more senior guests were quite frightened. All of us were relieved to see them depart. At one point, a member of the cleaning staff ignored the sign on the door indicating we did not wish to be disturbed and just walked in without knocking to retrieve a questionaire whilst we were relaxing in our room. Absolutely unacceptable!! On our final night dozens more youngsters arrived for what appeared to be a football tournament. Not quite as out of control as the first contingent but still loud and disruptive until the early hours. Most of the guests on our tour felt as we did, that we were glad to leave. We were unanimous in the fact that we would not wish to do another Christmas and New Year break again at this hotel and most certainly would avoid it at all times in the future. Our only recommendation for this hotel is to avoid it at all costs.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We're glad to hear that our New Year’s Eve dinner met your expectations, offering a highlight during your stay. We aim to provide a variety of gastronomic experiences and we appreciate your recognition of this special event. We're sorry to hear about the disturbances you experienced. While we strive to ensure all guests have a pleasant stay, it seems we fell short in managing the behavior of certain groups. Please rest assured that we take every guest's comfort seriously, and we continuously review our policies to enhance our service. We also apologize for the intrusion by a member of our cleaning staff; this is certainly not typical of our service standards. Your privacy and comfort are paramount, and we will reinforce our training to ensure such incidents are not repeated. Lastly, we regret that the temperature of our meals did not meet your expectations, and we will look into this matter closely. We hope you will consider us again in the future for a chance to provide the quality stay you expect and deserve. Wishing you a Happy New Year!

After reading some of the reviews for this hotel I was definitely expecting the worst however on arriving at the hotel we were pleasantly surprised. We stayed in room 101, our room was basic but clean, we had a corner balcony with a view of both the pool and up into the hills which was nice. The beds were firm but still comfortable. The room was cleaned everyday along with fresh sheets and towels. Breakfast was undoubtedly the best meal, lots to choose from, cooked breakfast/ croissants & pastries/ even pancakes and churros on some days. Lunch was nice depending on your tastes but always plenty of meats and salad to choose from. Chips and pasta are available everyday too. Dinner was also nice with lots of choice. I especially enjoyed the burger and fajita night. The effort this hotel puts into their food is fantastic, especially the desserts for Halloween - (see pics) well done chefs! Burgers, hotdogs and sandwiches are available everyday at the snack bar between meal times. All the staff were polite and helpful. All the main areas were clean bright and air conditioned. The choice of cocktails included in the all inclusive are fantastic. The entertainment was good - we especially enjoyed bingo and the Disney show. The hotel organised lots of Halloween activities for the children including trick or treating round the hotel and pumpkin carving. The pool area was clean and we never struggled to get a sun bed. The hotel has 4 different pools including one on the roof which Is cool! The hotel is in a good location, around 10 minute walk to the beach and town centre. The indoor pool and spa area is lovely, free of charge, you just have to book in and you have a 45 minute slot. The only cons of this hotel for us were that the restaurant got extremely busy in the evenings, one night in particular we couldn’t stand up from our table without getting stuck in a que. Another thing being rather than wristbands for the all inclusive, you get cards which you have to give to the bar staff to receive your cup and then return your cups at the end and get your cards back. This lead to us queuing in long ques at the bar some nights just to give our cups in and get our cards so we could go to bed. The entertainment is on until around midnight and it was quite loud in our room but luckily we didn’t have many early nights. All in all we had a fantastic weeks stay! Thankyou h.top, we will definitely return.

Decent, clean and fairly comfortable all inclusive hotel, with good and varied food. Yes, the dining hall was crowded for most meals, and the mainly Spanish, French and Belgian guests have no queue culture, but that's part of the game. The swimming pool appeared not to be heated, at least not much. I got a favourable price through allinc.no , but paid nearly as much for the transfer from / to Barcelona Airport as I paid for the stay + flights. I stayed here 1 week, and had no trouble.

Hotel and rooms were clean and staff were lovely. Food was awful, always cold. The dining area was awful. Lots of people packed in, people barging about, walking right in front of people who are clearly queing . This hotel is clearly focused on French and Spanish visitors. I wouldnt recommend this hotel.

Serious safety incident
We stayed at this hotel through a package deal with Just Go Holiday. However on our first night we were effected by a horrible ordeal. We believe our drinks were tampered with whilst in the bar and subsequently we later found out that we had been robbed of our money. It was reported to reception immediately the next morning when we realised. At first they did seem sympathetic. We went to the police station,it took 3 attempts to report it to them. However the hotel then disengaged from us and to this day we have no idea if the police a long with the hotel checked the CCTV? Both the hotel and police weren't supportive or even interested. We felt very upset about the whole experience. I'm not suggesting that this would happen again. However the lack of support was shocking. Whether the hotel choose to respond to this is neither here nor there as they should of responded better when it happened. Moving forward id just like to try and forget about this incident. The hotel in general is very dated and areas of the room need attention, so not a 4 star in my opinion

My experience of this hotel was much more positive than most of the reviews on here. I agree it's not 4 stars but based on what I paid , I am happy. The room was cleaned every day with fresh towels supplied. The pool was lovely, plenty of available loungers. The spa area was relaxing to use. We were pool facing, entertainment tended to finish around midnight so we weren't bothered by noise and with the balcony door closed we heard little noise from the road. I found the beds firm but still slept well. The location was great for us with friendly bars and restaurants around. I would stay here again.

I went on an all inclusive package, the room was not ready for up to 2/3 hrs, there was no wi-fi in the room, the light in the bathroom was flickering, the shower valve was constantly coming out. Despite being all inclusive, I was told I had to pay for every little thing outside meal times (snacks, drinks,etc.). Food trays were uncovered, plates were not very clean and the majority of the food looked like it had been there for the entire day - a few days into my holiday, I had paella at lunch in the hotel and a few hours later was in the A&E with severe food poisoning, the only help I received from the hotel was the possibility of being seen by a doctor but was advised that he could take up to 45minutes, by then I was severely dehydrated, vomiting and short of breath so I called an ambulance. Since then a month has passed and after being hospitalised for 3 days on my return to the UK I am still far from being fully recovered, investigations are still ongoing. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and considering my present health issues I would strongly advise everyone to be really careful about what they eat in the hotel, it may turn out to be a holiday from hell.
