Was eating here twice. Its an amazing and cosy place to eat. The food is really great, authentic and extremely low priced. The staff is really good to provide advise and speaks perfect english. We had 30 people eating a family style 3 course lunch and they served us perfectly. Making it the most amazing 70-year celebration with 3 generations together in this very special place. And again prices was extremely good. 3 courses plus wine, beer and cocktail for less than 20€.

Although I have been to Makrigialos many times and visited Artemis to visit friends or have seal, this is the first time I have stayed. The room 502 was newly refurbished. Plain and practical. The beds, one big double and single were comfortable and everything was new in the shower room. View was spectacular, you could see right around the bay. WiFi was good in the restaurant area but less so in our room. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The on site restaurant served really good food and it was reasonably priced. I would happily recommend this place to others.

We spent two weeks staying at Artemis in July/August 2018. The accommodation is fantastic, clean, very comfortable and amazing value for money. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the food is equally amazing. We really can not fault our stay in any way and have booked again already for neck year. Can't wait and the countdown has begun!

The Artemis Hotel is a lovely hotel situated by the water. The staff are very friendly and very efficient. They have a great café downstairs which serves coffees, ice creams and large meals. I was very impressed by our room and will probably be staying here next year.

Took a spontaneous overnight stay here after leaving the charter hotel a few days. Best decision! Small lovely hotel in a great location, right on the beach. The rooms were simple but big and very clean. Think most of the rooms have seaview. Had a wonderful stay and would love to come back! Can also add that we were served our trip's best lunches two days in a row here. The chef picked a few dishes out of the menu and served us. So good!

I can't rave enough about the hotel and the lovely family that runs it. If I was reading me, I'd be skeptical, so I'm trying to be as factual as possible. But that won't stop me from highly recommending a stay here. We wanted a personable, small and simple hôtel away from crowds yet near beaches and good food, and we were desperate to do nothing but lounge quietly in a nice place. Well we more than got our wishes. The hotel is cosy, and very, very pretty. Their beachfront is a few steps away from their restaurant, and there are plenty of recliners. The room was more than adequate for our needs, very clean, with lots of room and a gorgeous view. The beds, always one of our major concerns, were very good, if a bit on the small side. There are restaurants within walking distance, but the hôtel's restaurant has good food as well. Esthetically, you can't beat this setting. Everywhere you look, you want to take a photo. As for the family that runs the place, I can't be generous enough with my praise. We had a wonderful rapport with Maria, the daughter who was home for the summer helping out. You couldn't find a more pleasant, helpful person. The family took over the hotel a few years ago, and they try to update and improve some aspect of the place and its functions each year. They are doing a really good job, and make their guests feel very much at home. A word about the south coast of Crête: although all the guide books tell you that elsewhere you'll find more beautiful anything blahdiblah, and it may be true, the south coast indeed has a rockier coastline, but it's that much more interesting to find a little crick. For snorklers, it's far more interesting than a long stretch of sand. Also, the hospitality we encountered in the tavernes and restaurants in the area os Makrys Gialos left us overwhelmed. The people were so friendly! The food was excellent absolutely everywhere, except for one place that was in a touristy area that clearly benefitted enough from passers-by to not have to prove themselves.

We stayed for two weeks at Artemis Hotel and it was a great experience. First of all, the rooms and the whole area are very clean, fact that was very important for us. The kitchenware in our room looks like it was new. The view from the balcony is extraordinary: when you step from the room onto the balcony it feels like entering another world! You have the sandy beach, the palm trees in front of the hotel, the beautiful golf of Makry Gialos stretching in front of you and of course the Lybian See. The hotel offers a great culinary experience. The cook - Yiannis, thank You again! - is very good in his job. Everything we ordered tasted great. We also ate at other locations in the area, and all offer good food, but at Artemis it was the best. I can't recommend only one dish, because they all were very good: escargot, octopus, dorade, kalamari, sardines, gemista, etc. The hotel owners are very kind and friendly and their young daughter - Maria - is fantastic: You can talk about everything with her, from political philosophy to the life in Crete. The location is also very good, directly on the beach, at the remote and quite side of the Makry Gialos golf. You can walk along the beach until the port, where the shops and taverns are. Every friday there is a local market in the area, with fresh fruits and vegetables. From this location You can take trips to Vai, Ierapetra, Elounda and much more. And last, but not least, the wifi works very good. So, I highly recommend this hotel for a summer vacation.

This is a hotel that is at a nice location and has nice beach, in front of it. The price is nice and the rooms are not fancy but clean and relatively spacious. A problem I encountered in this hotel is that the service at the restaurant was very unorganized. Two times my order was forgotten and the rest of the times clients that came after me would received their order much earlier than me (without cooking time being the reason). This is somewhat frustrating, but nevertheless, the food is good. Bar and food service is provided on the beach. The personnel is helpful and polite and works hard. Perhaps the reason for the above that the restaurant is understaffed for the number of clients it has.

Good place to relaxing, and spend time. Rooms are old, but its comfortable. When you close the door every time, there is very dark, because its not glasses but wooden. View is very nice. I think, for price its good.
