We rented condo #31. End unit with great views of the Pamlico Sound and a hot tub to enjoy those sunsets. The condo had everything that we needed for our stay. It is not too far from the busier end of the island, and walking distance to Rodanthe Pier. We did not use the pool this stay as we either fished the entire week or were in the hot tub, but there were families there that did enjoy the use of the pool. My only critique here is that the condo receive a top to bottom cleaning, from picture frames to wood trim. Other than that, we highly recommend this condo.

First the good. The location was awesome, nice big space with lots of room to spread out. Nice big kitchen with just about all you need. Great outdoor deck with a hot tub and gas grill and beautiful sunsets over the sound.
Now the not so good. The floors were very dirty and gritty upon arrival, to the point my bare feet were black after walking around for 10 minutes. We found a dead bug and what looked like dried cat puke on the master bedroom floor (out in the open) found a maxi pad under one bed and dust/dirt under living room tables. Mostly hardwood-ish floors and the needed to be swept and mopped. They did come out and do so the next day when we requested. Also there were ants in the master bathroom and a request for ant traps went unanswered. Communication was good up until the day before check out when I asked about ant traps for the master bedroom. I’m not sure why our message about the ants in the master bathroom went unanswered when I sent a message via Airbnb and also to the text phone contact # we were given.
Also the beds had toppers on them that were a bit worn and the Bed in the master bedroom had wood frame around it and it stuck out and we whacked our shins on it more than once!
Hot tub on deck was overheating but when we reported it to first flight they sent someone out right away to fix it.
Bedroom door in the queen bedroom would get stuck half open/shut due to warped floor.
Oh and a few nights we went outside after dark with a flashlight and saw lots of cockroaches which I believe may be pretty normal in that part of the Outer Banks?
Lastly the shared pool was really nice but it closed at dusk each night and there were no lights in or around the pool.
So a little more wear and tear than what you see on the pictures but the location was really nice in quiet Rodanthe. Not a whole lot to do around there but that’s kind of what we were looking for a nice peaceful away from the crowd location!

This place is awesome! In June, the sunsets are on the sound side, so you will most likely, weather permitting, experience a wonderful sunset every evening.
The bedrooms are very nice, each with their own TV and bathroom. The kitchen is very nice with granite countertops and all modern appliances. The balcony is huge with lounging chairs and a hot tub included.
We enjoyed watching the kiteboarding on the sound from our balcony and all the jet skis zooming around. The Good Winds Restaurant next door to the condo was excellent and sunset dinners are fantastic there.
We had an issue with a TV in one of the bedrooms. I texted Anna from First Flight Rentals and she was on top if it. She contacted the condo owner and it was replaced the very next day. Now that is some fantastic service!!
Our family highly recommends this resort and will be back again either in the fall or next summer. maybe even both!

We liked the space and amenities in our condo, Surf Shack, and the kitchen was stocked very well. The unit was not as clean as I would like upon arrival. The elevator actually had a hole for our floor that you had to stick your finger in, a major hazard. After a few days the hole was covered with electrical tape and so there no drop off on our floor anymore.
The pool area was generally clean, but there are only three chairs!! That was a big disappointment. Also, we were on our porch and all of the sudden water was pouring over the balcony from above. There must be a better way to manage the water on the porches because it clearly has caused major damage to the wood on the outside of the building. Which leads me to my last point, the outside of the building looks terrible. Everything looks rotted and needs to be fixed.
We like the location and the beach is great but the above was a bit of a drag.

We have stayed here for 11 summers, and when we arrived, . the refrigerator was dying. Reported it and immediately we were brought large coolers and ice, and 24 hours later Michael was wheeling in a brand new refrigerator. We were so impressed. If you are missing items when you arrive, they knock on your door within hours with replacements. Excellent customer service!

we really enjoyed staying here. The kids set crab traps and fished. They had the best time. The condo is really nice. Plenty of room for 5 of us. Says it sleeps 8 that might be crowded. Very clean and decorated really well.

I reserved a condo at the property for a week in Sept. 2011. They happily took the entire amount for the stay two weeks before we were scheduled to check in. Hurricane Irene washed away part of Rt. 12 rendering the property inaccessible. After several phone calls to the company were not returned, I eventually reached Nick the sales rep. He informed me that Waves Village would not be refunding my money and would be keeping the entire amount. I am in disbelief that they think this is acceptable.
I have reserved several properties over the years and have never had an experience like this. I am in the process of filing a suit to recoup my money. Stay elsewhere. This is a bad business.

We stayed at Waves Village Resort from May 11-18th. This is our 3rd time at this resort and 2nd time in the same unit - Surf Shack - middle unit on 2nd floor.Previous to this visit, we booked directly with Waves Village. This year, we needed to book through a rental company - First Flight Rentals.
We checked in at the Kitty Hawk Kite store right next door to the condo. The Assistant Manager showed us to our unit. He could not get the key to open the doors. After about 10 minutes, he finallly went and got the Manager who got the door opened.
Unit is well appointed with spectacular views of the sound. There is a hot tub There is a large pool right outside. However, we were told the pool was opened and was not opened at all during our visit. They were "waiting for an inspection" to take place. This was one of the reasons we liked this resort was for the pool. We noticed quite a bit of sand on the floor and found a broom to sweep it up. I used a paper towel on one of the spots on the floor and after one swipe, it was black. We swept up 2 full dustpans full of sand that were all over the floor of the living area. Between sweeping with a broom, then vacuuming, we finally felt the floor wasn't full of sand. However, I don't plan to spend well over an hour cleaning a condo that is supposed to be cleaned prior to arrival. One of the lights in the bedroom was burnt out and almost all of the lamps in the dining chandelier were burnt out. We told the assistant manager about this and he said he would bring replacements - but we never received them. The toilet seat in the master bathroom was also cracked through (ouch). Also told the assistant manager about this - but never saw him again. The frying pans were horrible. They were so scratched and half of the finish was peeling off - we were afraid to use them. Some of the dishes that were in the cabinets were definitely not clean. There were only a few small bowls provided - nothing large enough to even make a salad. We enjoy cooking on vacation, but ate out a lot this time since there weren't enough pans to cook with. There is a gas grill on the deck, but that would have taken another hour or two of cleaning to make it usable.
The past two times we rented at this resort - everything was spotless and the units were well-equipped and maintained. When we had a minor problem with the unit, the manager was there right away to fix it. I don't think the new management company checks these units periodically for wear and tear and cleanliness. I sent an email to them about all of our problems and received no response. That just affirms the fact that they really don't care about their customers. I really didn't expect any kind of compensation, just would have appreciated an acknowledgement of my email.
These condos are in a great location - close to a lot of restaurants, right on the sound, short walk to the beach and spectacular sunsets. There is so much potential - but, obviously, poor management. We were so disappointed this time that I doubt that we will return.

This is a beautiful property. But it is terribly managed. When I arrived I was told the elevator was broken. Now I understand that things break and hurricanes happen here in North Carolina. But I should've been notified before I arrived. I was on the third floor and it was quite difficult to bring our luggage and groceries upstairs. Then I called the management and said that I couldn't get on their Wi-Fi. I was told they were having someone come in to fix it the next day. To make a long story short we never did have Wi-Fi the entire week. And a little research told me that waves resort has not had Wi-Fi for a long time. Again things happen but just be honest with your guests. When we arrived the handle to our sliding glass door was broken. And I mean broken in pieces. We couldn't lock that door and it was very difficult to open and close. They did fix the handle towards the end of our stay but the door still didn't lock. These condos are not cheap. I feel I should've been told about all of these things before my arrival. All this would be bad enough. But I have attempted to contact them several times with several emails and I have had no response at all!! No return phone call no return email. If waves resort cannot offer all the amenities that they advertised then their guests are entitled to a partial refund. It's just that simple. I think it's terrible and very unprofessional to not respond to any of my complaints. So I decided to post them here. I paid a large rental fee for that property. I paid for Wi-Fi that I never got the entire week and I paid for an elevator that never worked. I was unable to lock one of the doors in my condo. Oh and I almost forgot we also found roaches and roach droppings in the kitchen. This is a beautiful place and I love the Outer Banks but this property is not well-maintained. But most disappointing of all was no response to any of my attempts to complain or speak to these people. DON'T STAY HERE!!!!!

We stayed here September 2012 - first week of offseason. Originally booked Sunset on the Sound house but upon arrival we were shifted to Downwinder due to the last family breaking the tub. No big deal.
As for the rooms, the pictures on the website actually do their justice (rarely able to say that). The rooms were clean upon arrival. Great layout. Big open space and design. The rooms were nice and fittingly furnished. Perfect for family or friends. We brought our 2 labradors and traveled with my parents. Never felt crowded. The view of the sound was great but I still prefer having ocean view or ocean front.
The drawback for me is the location of the condo but I knew this before hand. We wanted to try a new spot and we though Rodanthe was great because it was centrally located; but we found ourselves wanting to go North more than staying put or going south. We love OBX and try to do a trip a year and stay in Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, or Nags Head area. Rodanthe is a small quiet town and has little on the ends of things that we like to do. We had to drive north to get the taste of our normal experiences and drive south for Hatteras (which is a day trip we do at least once each visit).
We like to constantly do something and keep busy during our vacations, so this did not 100% fit our style. The location is perfect for those who want to catch some rays, watch beautiful sunsets, kite board (which looks awesome and you'll have plenty of it right from your sun deck), or like the "small-town feel." Ultimately I would chose to stay here again because of the spectacular accommodations and the benefits of being able to take mans best friend; they need vacations and the pooches love the beach too.
