After a long day driving, I stopped for a night at the Hampton Inn on Winstead Avenue in Rocky Mount, NC. The room appeared to be clean, because you could smell the cleanser. I checked into room 106 around 8:00 pm, showered and fell asleep. Around 3:30 am, a constant noise woke me up and I thought it was a mouse in the room. I turned on the light and found what looked like chewed up paper on the floor. I soon realized that their was a water leak from the room above and the ceiling was falling. Quickly dressed to leave the room, because I could see white dust floating in the room. I told the woman at the front desk and she went to the room to confirm for herself. She saw exactly what I showed her on video and pics. She told me my room was free, that there was nothing else she could do and that no one was there to fix it. She checked me out of the hotel and sent me on my way. Now, I'm back on the highway driving while still tired because I didn't get a good night sleep, but at least I wasn't in a room breathing in the white dust and having the ceiling falling in on me. During this ever so stressful time. We wanted to return to our Northern home from our winter retreat in Florida. We were frightened about staying anywhere and catching the virus...no masks, gloves for pumping gas only. Djimon was the most pleasant, competent person we could ever meet after driving 15 hours from Naples, Florida. He himself was on a double shift and due back in the afternoon. He could not have been kinder and put our two couples across the hall to share snacks and sandwiches we packed for the road trip. With theuncertainty of the virus and our concern for family who are front line health care providers, we were blessed to meet the calming reassurance of this young man. As the buffet in the lobby was closed, a brown bag breakfast was provided as we left in the morning. We have always been impressed with Hampton Inn's quality for price point and we were pleased to see that hadn't changed amidst this crisis. Another reason for brand loyalty.…
This place is grim. The floor in the hall was dark and unclean. The room reeked of cleaning chemicals (which means at least they tried!). The bathroom was dirty and the toilet seat was up. Had a man forgotten to put it down ( so it had been used?). The decor was 1950’s formal ugly. The worst was the bed was mushy and there was only shampoo and lotion. No conditioner. We asked for it. The o duty guy said’ “There’s a drug store down the street.” The pool is closed but an eyesore and the area is filthy. The refrigerator was dirty inside and out. The fan in the bathroom screams and it works when the single light it on. The outlet in the bath was filthy. Caulking was nasty. Breakfast was a sham and horrible. Cheesy roll. Oranges. The smallest yogurt container ever. We always stay at Hampton Inns. This place ruins every single Hampton Inn’s reputation. SHAME. No photos. My iPhone might throw up. …
Very clean met CoVID standards. We really enjoyed spending our overnight on our road trip from PA to Hilton Head. Staff observed all guíeles and has done their best making you feel safe. Hotel is brand new!
Just a few points: Roach on the wall No conditioner for the Mrs. Partially used shampoo and body lotion. Otherwise ok. I did have a good nigh’s sleep. Room is older and there is no real way for 2 people to charge phones overnight unless you carry an extension cord.(I do)
