I stayed in the Alligator on the Saturday before my son's wedding at Rocky Mount Mills on Sunday. I knew the place would be small, but the photos are a bit deceiving as it is smaller than it looks. Also, the steps up to the loft bedroom are not as they seem in the photos either. They measure about 14-15inches and are very steep. I climbed up enough to see the bed and came back down as my knee couldn't take the climb (I have short legs & a bum knee). Besides, even at my short height, one would have to crawl on the floor to the bed once you got to the top of the stairs as there is no room to stand as an adult. I brought my 3 young grandchildren to stay the night with me. Gave the girls, 9 & 8 the loft while my 8yr old grandson slept on the makeshift bed-from-the-sofa with me. By the way, there are no instructions to show you how to create the bed. There are two pullouts that have thick, sturdy wooden supports that meet in the middle so the bottom is solid. It's just that it's not even with the "couch" part by about 4in. So my grandson slept on the couch side and I slept sitting up in one corner curled up on top of a pillow where the drop was. It was very uncomfortable, but we made do with what we had. There was a small microwave, a very large, deep kitchen sink & a college size fridge, but that was it. The toilet really is a regular size toilet, however, the shower that looks like a nice size in the photos, is actually a stand and spin shower with nothing to put your foot on should you need to shave a leg or two! Hard to bend over unless you're only 100lbs or less! All in all, we had a good time. The little ones got loud a few times, but I kept telling them the walls are real thin and our neighbors could hear us. On a better note, Bryan, the manager was kind enough to let me into my tiny home a bit earlier so I could have time to freshen up and get settled before going over to the Mills for the rehearsal. He was going to allow me to check out a bit later on Sunday but that didn't work because once I got over to the Bridal Suite to have hair and makeup done, I wasn't allowed to leave the room as it was very humid & warm outside and would have ruined all the work those girls did! So, the tiny homes are good for a night or maybe two, however, claustrophobia would set in after that. Tiny homes are on a gravel drive with firepits & chairs in between every other couple homes. Unload then park across the street in the lot. Not that far.

Oh dear goodness what a great experience! My Boyfriend and I have been following the creators/builders of some of the Tiny Houses and took a detour on our way home to stay in one for just one night. It did not disappoint! They are surprisingly large in person and with very nice amenities! The grounds were gorgeous and had a bunch of relaxing options outside. And Bryan!! He was AMAZING!! Made sure we were all settled in, that everything was to our liking, and that we had the best of the area available to us! I HIGHLY recommend this place and look forward to visiting them again....and at that point, we'll be sure to visit every one of their breweries! I included the Google Maps screen because it doesn't love the address...but now ya'll may have a reference if needed! For reference in the pics, he is 6'5"....and that was exactly the height of the shower for reference :-)

Stayed recently at River And Twine with my wife. We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay. You feel completely separated from the busy world with a camping vibe but when it is time for bed you have all the luxuries of a hotel in a compact space. At night we sat around the large fire pit chatting with other guests. When we headed inside for the evening it was completely quiet. No noise from the outside was noticeable. We stayed in the “Chowan”. The bed was comfortable and the space in the lower level was plenty big enough for the two of us. What really makes River and Twine great is everything is within walking distance. There are five breweries, three restaurants, one bottle shop, a beer garden, two outdoor stages, and an indoor event space all on the property of the Rocky Mount Mills. You can leave you car parked. The breweries frequently have live music, so you can grab a beer, listen to some tunes, and when you are ready make the 2 minute walk back to your tiny home. There is also a five mile long greenway along the Tar River you can explore. You can grab a hotel anywhere. If you are in Rocky Mount, do River and Twine instead. It is a great experience.
