We stayed here for one evening after a bike trip. It seemed like an appealing idea due to the pandemic and my husband and I wanted to experience a tiny home. The units are exactly as they look on the website, but look closely at the steps to the sleeping loft and the TINY bathroom. We were impressed by the cleanliness and the inviting and attractive outdoor environment. Unloading/loading is permitted on the site, but parking is across the street in the RM Mills lot, which is very close. As mentioned in other reviews, dining is not an issue since River and Twine is attached to the Rocky Mount Mills which has multiple dining options (we ate at Tap 1918 which was very enjoyable). One reviewer mentioned that they used the barbque, which we did not need and did not look for. However, be aware that guests wanting to use the barbque would need to bring everything- plates, utensils, cooking items, etc. There was nothing in the unit except a roll of paper towels.

The loft bed's mattress was comfortable and on the floor. There is no headroom at all. An adult would need to bend all the way over once up in the loft. When sitting up in bed, I scraped my head on the celing (I am 5'3"). The steps are very steep, which was an issue due to my arthritic knees. I would not consider attempting them in the middle of the night in the dark- a disaster waiting to happen.

All in all, we are glad we experienced a tiny home hotel experience, but don't think we would book another visit any time soon.

Stayed one night in January, in The Albemarle. Everything was perfect -- the details of the tiny house, the amenities (fluffy towels, soaps, coffee and hot cocoa), the bed (super comfy). Each house also has a record player with records as well as books, all from local shops. Neil Young's After the Goldrush remains one of the best albums ever! Super quiet and within walking distance of Rocky Mount Mills and its breweries and coffee shops.

Great place to decompress and enjoy Rocky Mount.
I’ve always wanted to check out a tiny house so I jumped at this chance while on business. The tiny house is indeed tiny! and made for one person or two very thin, good friends that don’t mind sharing a tight space, crawling into bed or bumping into each other at every turn. I liked the place and appreciated the solitude. It could use some deep cleaning and dusting as well as new pillows and sofa covers.

Having seen tiny houses on TV and read about them, we've always wanted to stay in one just out of curiosity. We booked a room on a Thursday night and it was kind of eerie since I think we were the only people staying in the entire compound -- we didn't see a soul until the next morning. It was unique but we probably won't do it again. The steps up to the loft bed are really steep, there is one sink (no bathroom sink), and we had a few mosquitoes with us. It was nice that they included a map to Rocky Mount Mills along with menus and a coupon for coffee. There were outdoor fire pits but not really available for use in early September (they were also waterlogged). Contactless check-in was interesting since they emailed us a punchcode for our unit's lock and we never had to pick up a key. There was a Keurig and some coffee pods but it would have been nice to have other options like tea. I'm sure many people will enjoy this but having done it once, that's about good for us.

All the basic necessities you need! If you’re not too big, it should be comfortable. My wife and I are 5’6” and 5’2” and I’m shape. We were attending a friends wedding in Nashville, and they had this lodging option in their wedding website. We both thought it was a great opportunity to try tiny homes! It was good for a first try, just to see if we would like it.
It has wifi, satellite tv, nice countertops, fridge, microwave, hair dryer, lots of little drawers for storage! The bed has little head clearance but here is where it’s best if you’re not too tall. Also the shower has a low height clearance as well, if you raise your hands you’ll hit the top. But that’s what a tiny house is! This is what you signed up for, the experience! Yes the stairs are steep, and it had to be to make the design work, I get that. We had to try the electronic pad lock a few times before it opened but glad it finally did. It’s also walking distance to lots of great restaurants and bars! Try this if you haven’t been in a tiny home before!

We stayed one night in the Roanoke. Our best friends stayed in the Tar. Grant it, they are tiny houses so our head space was a little tight, slanted roof style. However, the "A frame" style has more room in the loft. The houses are very tastefully decorated and supplied. Each house has a record player....nice touch. We also loved the convenience of being on the campus of Rocky Mount Mills. What a wonderful re-purpose of old space. Lots of places to eat, breweries and entertainment. Fun spot.

We spent one night there and it was great! The upstairs bed was nice but the couch to bed conversion on the main floor wasn’t. Small kids probably wouldn’t mind the main floor bed but it’s terrible for adults or older teenagers. All in all, a great experience! The check in experience was great. They send you a code for the electronic entry and that’s all you need to do. It was very clean and quiet. It was just a few minutes off of I-95 so very convenient.

Wonderful cozy experience on a 4th of July weekend! We had seen this getaway on our local PBS station and made it a point to make a reservation and we were not disappointed in the least. We stayed in the “The Little” as it had this cute cabin like porch. The space has been thought out where every inch is utilized. Although one would need to remember to duck their head when getting up in the middle of the night and carefully climb down the stairs, we felt like kids in a tree house. Although it was too hot to make s’mores, we used the handy microwave to melt the chocolate and marshmallows onto the graham crackers and it tasted even better. This was a perfect spot to visit the small town of Halifax where the original attempt of freedom was made from England before Declaration of Independence. We visited our favorite Smith’s Red and White for breakfast. The staff at River and Twine was inviting and friendly. The easy access to the Cabin was wonderful and quick.

Attended a wedding at The Power House in Rocky Mount, which is located at The Mill, and the tiny house village is basically across a large parking lot. A group of us decided to stay at the tiny houses so we could be together, yet not at a basic hotel. The tiny house was OK. I can now mark it off my bucket list but I really have no desire to stay again. While cute, it was not very warm even with the heat on (stayed in Feb), the blanket was missing for the sofa turned bed at the bottom (glad I had packed my one), and there was DOG hair all over the actual sofa. Yes, you put sheets over the cushions, but still it was all over and I felt like I was sleeping with a pet. Also, at the fire pit in the back there is NO LIGHTING at all. There are lots of rocks and it is very dangerous. I understand that lighting could distract from some of the ambiance but it is not safe. It started to pour while we were there and people had to scramble to their houses. One of the guys stepped backwards, fell, and hit his nose rather had on a large rock. However, with all being said, it could be perhaps considered fun if you are there in better, warmer weather and if you just want to give something different a try. The other good part is that you can go to the various breweries (if they are open) and just walk to your tiny house.

We found this place in Rocky Mount, NC and it is terrific! Clean, well-appointed, and very thoughtfully designed. It's a great place for couples (I wouldn't try to put more than two people in each 'room'), on a dead-end, quiet street. It's also very near (within walking distance) two very good restaurants, but also has a microwave and coffee maker if you do carry out. I would say one has to feel comfortable climbing a steep ladder to the loft where the bed is located (although one could use the pull-out bed on the main floor). All in all, a very good value for a short stay.
