The property and service were superlative. We visited for a wedding that was held on the property and were very pleased with the comfort and convenience. The gardens and upkeep are lovely and everyone enjoyed their stay. Food was very good and we had not one criticism of this property.

Review collected in partnership with Relais & Chateaux
Ideally we would rate it 3.5. It’s nice and comfortable and the grounds are pretty. But the facilities are dated and service is mediocre. Not what you would expect at a Relais & Chateaux property. It’s not a true luxury property but it is clean and nice and pet friendly. The best part is the soufflé at the restaurant.

Stayed here two nights to celebrate our anniversary. The setting is wonderfully relaxing and interesting, and the inn and restaurant are beautiful, in keeping with what one would expect of a Relais & Chateaux property. It must be gorgeous in spring and summer! We were given an upgrade upon arrival to a suite in the newer section of the inn, which was a nice touch for our anniversary. In our room, we found a congratulatory note from management with a $15 gift card to use at the restaurants or shops. However, the first part of the note said "happy birthday," and the second part of the note said "happy anniversary." In our room, we also found a mouse! It scampered back and forth through the bedroom a few times, then disappeared into the gap where the closet pocket door slides. We were not frightened or upset, and we did not see it again. The next morning, we informed the front desk. They apologized and said they would alert housekeeping. We expected to perhaps be contacted by upper management later in the day, as it is highly unusual to see a rodent in your room in a hotel of this caliber. But we did not hear from them. Upon departure, we completed the comment card in the room, making mention of the mouse. Again, we thought we might get an email or call from the hotel in the days after we arrived home, but nothing. On other notes, breakfasts were delightful and delicious. One morning, though, our waitress forgot to give us a menu, so we sat waiting for about 20 minutes before the two wait staff realized neither of them had taken our order. We were not in a hurry, so this was not a big deal. But it was another example of lack of attention to detail. Dinner in the restaurant was lovely. Service was excellent. Each dish was amazingly artful in presentation, but some of the dishes lacked in flavor. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the place to others. But the inn and restaurant were not as stellar as we expected. It's all in the details at this level.

We’ve stayed and dined at the Inn on multiple occasions and haven’t been disappointed yet. Noticed they’d moved the Belted Goat Restaurant and expanded the clothing/other things store into the old space. They will bring newspapers papers to your room in the am. I’m aware that fewer and fewer people read newspapers. Unfortunately, they don’t have the Wall Street Journal. The coffee in the morning (in the garden room near the restaurant) is also a welcome touch! I’d recommend getting dinner reservations well in advance, especially in Saturdays.

I was over the moon with this place! Employees are fabulous, rooms are perfect, food is outstanding, and the shops... oh the shops are to die for. Cute with unique items all with a library to pick some reads for your stay and some nice restaurants for quick or sit down dinners. I cannot wait to get back to see the oreos!
