Detailed Reviews
Outstanding food and service. The breakfast, restaurant, staff and grounds were amazing. The room was very clean and has potential. The bathrooms were very dated, something from the early 90s and desperately need to be updated. I enjoyed our stay but at $550 per night in the middle of winter, I expected the rooms to be comparable to the Umstead or a 4/5 star resort. I would consider coming back again if an update was done to the room or the prices were $300.

My husband and I love to get away to Fearrington for an overnight stay with friends. The grounds are immaculate and beautiful. The restaurant is top notch. It's prix fixe though so plan accordingly--it's A LOT of food. But incredibly well prepared and thoughtful. The spa is amazing and the rooms (if you get a good one) is just lovely. Heated floors and towel racks make it special. Extra large tubs for a good soak is also nice.

This was a perfect anniversary stay. My husband enjoyed the walking trails, as much as I enjoyed the shopping at the lovely shops! With the Fearrington Village shops so convenient to getting a small snack or meal, with either a cup of cappuccino or a glass of wine, everything is located for all to enjoy.

We returned to the Fearrington House with fond memories from a stay 5 years ago. A deluxe room was selected, and all was ready when we arrived. The room location was great on the main level and close to all amenities. Once inside our memories were shattered as all was very dull and needed to be updated. It was very cheaply furnished for an Inn of that reputation and a price of nearly $600. with taxes. The worst was the bathroom equipped with small add on pieces to hold personal items with an area for the commode that was only wide enough to sit down on a very low commode with a loose seat. A scatter rug with no rubber backing was on the floor and easily moved around. My husbands shower was only moderately warm. The dinner at the Inn dining room was very good and should be for $375., took 3 hours, and dress rules were less than dress casual with a hoodie on one quest and a golf shirt on another. The restaurant was quite cold so I got the extra blanket from the closet . When it was opened there was a long black hair on it from a prior guest with was quite nasty in my opinion. I reported it in the AM and was told they were sorry. Breakfast was included in the room and served in the Inn dining area which was a lovely space with sunny windows. Wait staff was very pleasant and attending. The guest next to us ordered eggs Benedict which is also my choice. He returned his as overdone just as mine came very under cooked. Biscuits and muffins were dry. The grounds of the Fearrington House were very pretty with lovely gardens, and the shops were well stocked. The hit for entertainment was an outside music event with wine and pizza available. Unfortunately they ran out of pizza BEFORE all were served. It was an expensive get away and far less than had been the experience in the past! Two waters, NO apples and a small bag of chips for 2 guests in the welcome bag!

I needed a place to stay and relax for a few days while on a long car trip. I think I found the absolute best location for my stay.
The Fearrington House is unique, it is a planned town/community built aside a working farm. Beautiful green grass and white fences draw you to the middle of the town which is tree lined and beautifully landscaped.
My rooms were on the 2nd floor just across from the plantation house and in its immediate grounds. I had breakfast each morning in the dining room in the plantation house and a dinner in the bar lounge in the same building.
Service was excellent in all aspects of my stay including check in and out and all meals.
The rooms were very clean and the bed very comfortable. The towels were fanastic as was the bathroom and shower. A good mix between the old look but contemporary necessities. The heated towel rack came in very handy.
The rest of the business end of the village contained a few stores, a book store, a unique market/restaurant and a spa.
So many ways to walk around the village, the lake, the walking paths and the homes on the property.
Certainly a wonderful place to live. Not far from Falls Church and Durham.
I highly recommend a stay here.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Fearrington House Inn to celebrate our anniversary. We particularly enjoyed our meals at the Belted Goat, live music and the beautiful scenery including the cows, sheep, donkey and chickens. Breakfast was top notch! Unfortunately the men's bathroom was in need of attention.

Located on a pristine property and cute little village, The Fearrington House Inn offers first-class accommodations. We had a well-appointed, room on a top floor with a high ceiling, sitting area, large bathroom and comfy king-size bed. We also enjoyed the sun room's fire and seating area. There is another 'family room' with an outside patio that leads into a large outside area.

This is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful place. The gardens are gorgeous and the rooms are well appointed. It is an easy drive to both UNC and Duke. My only complaints are that it was a little pricey for the location (but Relais & Chateaux always is) and a surly staff member, Rosie, who was exceptionally rude when I asked for a 30 minute extension on check out. Ask for a room that looks out on the garden. Unfortunately, we had a room that looked out in the air conditioners!

The Fearrington experience is wonderful and includes lots of individualized attention and delicious food. The rooms are a bit tired and need updating. Plumbing fixtures are old and in need of replacement. A coffee/rea station and a refrigerator should be standard. Dinner was delicious, but was four very large courses. A smaller option would be very welcome.

I’ve stayed at this lovely inn several times and always come back when I have business in Chapel Hill. Today I must add that not only is this a lovely place to stay and eat, they are also excellent in customer service. My flight today was delayed indefinitely so I called to cancel my hotel reservation. Even though it was late afternoon the day I was supposed to arrive, the Inn readily cancelled my room with no penalty or protest. That really made my day after a long, frustrating wait at the airport.
